  1. horey shit this is cool. keep at it i wanna see a finished product!
  2. OMG that dash!! just pure awesomeness
  3. got one of these on the way to me pretty stoked in finding one. My rear power panel. Earth bar. Power bar. Quick release battery terminals Once i make a decent battery tray it'll all be mounted nicely and covered by a fascia trim. Also have run 6ch of RCA leads. Electric window wiring Speaker cables. My central locking should arrive soon so i can run them as well. Trying to forward plan as much as possible. So for power windows i decided to go with a universal kit. These cars had the option but the regs will be 40 years old and possibly unreliable. And hard to find. its fairly neat and the switches cover the winder hole quite nicely.
  4. so still been working on it. had nearly 3 weeks where i didnt though. Running my own business and trying to build this car has taken its toll. Work got absolutely spastic and well really i can't say no to the work. Back at it now. So Parcel shelf deadened. under the fuel tank and sections of the tank deadened tank pickup also modified to allow wiring through Current state of the motor wiring.. ergh Here is my little bus bar type thing to distribute power up front
  5. The carpet is knox. The dash was done by brennon upholstery in lonsdale. Progress hasnt really slowed just everything is so tedious now. wiring mainly and exhausting exhaust.
  6. in/out fuel lines done for now i may/may not take it somewhere and have em redone to look a bit neater. for now i'm happy. and carpet has arrived.
  7. havent thought that far ahead hey tbh. woulda thought to just have em both linked up. Temp guage should tell u if its getting too hot. I reckon that a good idea could be to have a temp switch that shuts the motor down preventing damage.
  8. most definitely. The 1uz is a very hot running motor. The way i look at things is. New cars all have shrouds built into their thermo fans. who am i to argue with years and years of engineering. so yeah will be building a shroud.
  9. Few more exhaust pics. Clearances are all nice and tight and the the exhaust hardly moves with the hangers. Still have to weld it more on the car. then dismantle.. finish welding. Paint flanges and collector and the hotdog. refit. 3" tip.. this one is just a mock piece but gives an idea.
  10. Mate has been getting stuck into the loom (which is good) as exhaust is done and fuel system is very close aswell. Onto the ZORST! went with stainless. Twin 2" as the log manifolds end that size. into a single 2.5" wanted to do twin system but there is just a distinct lack if space. Cat converter. stainless 2.5" in/out 200cell Straight through LUKEY muffler. one section first 3rd kinda the rest. Also these twin 14" thermos rocked up fit quite nice on the radiator. will be making a shroud for these.
  11. been a while. been chipping away at it. for those that have built cars to this extent will know its all the small things that take up your time and money. so got the roof and floor finished off with the ping jing and acoustic liner. no photo of the floor as its filthy and needs a vacuum lol been toying with fitment of radiator support and the massive soarer radiator. We have top and bottom hoses sorted out now too mock up of the fender.. v8 was looking quite large in there before. once a guard goes on it looks small again. haha Here mocking up placement of the stock AFM and filter box for that OEM look. New hydraulic tensioner rocked up. it appears to be shorter than the stock one? any UZ gurus know anything bout this?
  12. more piccies.. Fender polished stoneguard on the bottom to match the sills. Stoneguard on the underside to seal it all up underside of inner fender body tarred got my dash back from the trimmer. it was all warped and cracked. for $300 i'm stoked with the outcome and scored myself a jzz30 ali radiator. just gotta mod the rad support to fit it up. hopefully i can just use stock jzz/uzz rad hoses now.
  13. u can use anything u like. Just try and use something that suits your needs and is the most cost effective. getting a falcon diff under a ke as opposed to the correct model hilux is going to differ by quite a large sum of money
  14. Feral 4k.. it takes time alot of time. ive been toying with motors and painting cars for 10 yrs its only the last 5 or so that its been stepped up. Take it easy have a go and slowly build your skills and tooling. Also i'm not alone. i have my spray shop business and a mate o mine has a shop he uses for personal fab and odd jobs.
  15. so heres some pics. front of motor pretty much done. front brake lines in. tidied up alot of loose ends bolting wise. motor looking rather large now haha. inlet manifold is just mocked as i'm awaiting the loom. but you can see how tight everything is.
  16. so last night. we got the rear main carrier a new seal back on. flex plate up. trans on. motor back in the car. driveshaft in. Also manifolds bolted down for good. one cam cover bolted down with new gasket and spark plug tube seals. Front of motor is 90 complete again. also fitted the front brake line back onto the chassis. Sump dent repaired and refitted as well. Tonight will consist of mounting the power steering pump. alt. aircon. remaining cam cover, spark plugs and leads, coils, starter, water cross over pipes leaving only the inlet manifold off as to run the loom it has to remain off. And i'm waiting on the loom atm. By end of business sunday i'm hooping to have the dash all fitted back together and the fuel system finished.
  17. bit more painted. and to get en idea of how tightly packed some of the motor bits are heres a pic of the crown manifolds and oil plate. plus the engine mount. will put up a pic tomorrow of the clearances all around the motor. shes tight.
  18. The colour has no name it is a custom mix
  19. Thanks mate. just a couple more. So last night we got dry ice. used that to remove remaining sound deadener from the floor. mate also made some sneaky bombs. loud bang for sure. then we started reassembling the motor. Pulled the crank pulley off replaced timing bearings front crank seal and cam seal and timing belt. only to find that the kit didnt have the hydraulic tensioner. which it was supposed to. but progress is progress. Also new water pump is on.
  20. Started laying the ping jing. Also on the roof. Also wil be laying their acoustic layer foam. Meant to be a luxury car so lets help it along abit. or maybe alot!! also got the booster, pedal box, and master cylinder bolted up. Booster is Surf and Master is Landcruiser motor on its mounts. awaiting rear main and loom
  21. so more updates. this colour changes so dramatically. each different time of day really alters its look. It'll be dark. then super light. then pastel looking then kinda olive/army. its pretty cool exactly what i thought itd be and was hoping for. suits the period of the car well while still having that modern flare. got some doors on. both tail lights and rear bar. rear bar ive straightened as much as i felt comfortable. really needs new ones.
  22. well starting to fit it back together. here it is polished and on the trailer ready to go meet its chassis In love so far.
  23. Slide86 id love to do a ke17 be a cool little project.
