  1. injectors don't get a 'signal' they are earth switched. youve checked for spark have you replaced the plug on no.4? or at least tried a different plug. have you washed your engine bay at all? to check for injector pulse u need a noid light. Have u pulled the plugs and inspected them? i personally had a missfire issue. Turns out when i washed my engine bay number 4 sparkplug tube filled with water and made the plug go rusty. Replaced the spark plug and all was fine. same thing can happen if its full of oil if the seals are leaking.
  2. yeah i can. be bit cheaper too. but.. i want to use the car for drag racing. plus daily life. Auto is the only way to go. Will be changing a bunch of things while its off the road. send driveshaft off for balancing. Make upper diff arm adjustable to i can fine tune the pinion angle. make a new centre bearing x member to be firmer and allow twin exhaust. and obviously go twin exhaust.
  3. aaaand trans dead again. this time not the pump. this time its went bang shifting into second. now has no gears whatsoever. so off to MV automatince for a stage 2 shift kit. a different stall converter and all the other fruit they can do. reckons he can build it to handle 800hp ish. Wallet is gonnna kill but i'm over fixing transmissions
  4. thanks man. I'm pretty happy with how the rear is sitting now. a smidge lower would be nice but that'll mean custom springs and i don't want it THAT much. front i may drop a lil more since i can get a lower spring easy. Fronts are same as za fairlane lol. i'll post a pic next week of the new rear springs in and the front wheels on.
  5. small updates. Got sick of smashing bumpstops all the time in the rear. OEM springs are just knackered. So i bought pedders heavy duty standard height and this happened. came up a good 2" or so. looks spastic. But i thought since i plan to run a smaller wheel with a much bigger tyre it might end up looking ok. so i got myself some 15" cragars. the front have an issue though. since the brake upgrade the design of the wheel wont allow it to bolt up without a 20mm spacer. so this is the problem i'm left with. so the fronts have been sent off to be modified. they are being given as much positive offset as can safely be done. Now this will hopefully suck the wheel into the guard a fair way allowing me to possibly go a lower spring again up front. and here is the rears. i am stoked with the change in ride and handling going the bigger tyre and the much firmer rear springs. but its too high. i have since gone the pedders lowered spring in the back bringing it back down to the height it was at before but its still a much firmer more stable ride. I'm still waiting on my custom front swaybar. been 7 weeks since ordering. Also got a bosskit to suit my woodgrain wheel. Much nicer feel now.
  6. wish i had those fabrication skills. lathe work i just love it and would love to learn it
  7. that window mod is badass. never seen it. ive got universal kit in my crown. works ok. i reckon i'll give this a crack tho. cleaner install and looks like itd be alot stronger
  8. bumperettes are pretty cool. gonna get em filed and re chromed?
  9. fuel system looks really really nice.
  10. yeah right lol. my crowns are plenty enough for the moment. maybe in another 4 yrs or so i might look at another ke cooler mounts look good.
  11. better starting point would be nice but the rarity means i can't be too picky. Missus wanted a 'CUSTOM' no matter what. i have ears down to a possibly entire roof cut. will be a nicer job to switch out the whole roof rather than patching this one up.
  12. haha yeah. we'll be acid dipping alot of it but now way will i get the body done. the roof will literally fall off. Looking at possibly doing an entire roof swap on it. these things are pretty cool. Bench seats. Rear side fold dickie seat. Electric rear window with side open gate. this will be getting ground up resto with 1jzgte+auto retaining the column shift. Hilux rear end brake upgrades etc.
  13. sooooooooooooooo new project.. gonna be a long haul this one. but the missus has said its time for a car for her. roof is bad. will be a build thread starting on this in the next couple months. gonna be epic. oh and its a 1969 ms57 crown custom wagon.
  14. i like this build very much!! Almost makes me want to build another KE. Miss my old ones.
  15. yeah!! lets go!!
  16. i feel the pain. my 1uz has been a real dick. at least you can get live data to see whats happening to provide clues.
  17. no. the metal conditioner (deoxidine) will remove the surface rust.
  18. love it. Tps are sensitive fckers. i enjoy reading this technical stuff
  19. get yourself some metal conditioner. (Deoxidine) follow instructions. prime right away. the use cavity wax/fish oil
  20. couple of pics. Here is the steering column section that got modded. The pin was 20mm further up. after this pic the excess was cut off. the new converter. the old trans pump lil chunks missing Latest dyno readout. 2800 stall. shift kitted auto. Stock ecu. AFM UNPLUGGED and a vid http://vid448.photobucket.com/albums/qq205/bain0037/crown%201uz/20160618_084147.mp4
  21. helps we have contents insurance and 2 other cars all insured as well.
  22. killer job as always. this car just keeps evolving
  23. my crown is insured for 15k thru shannons. has ALL my mods listed which is rather extensive. only $530 a year with automatic salvage rights. also as a daily driver. Pretty good i reckon.
  24. Car is back on the road. the steering is amazing compared to the way it was. Old box was 5 turns lock to lock. now its only 3 turns. much easier to control now when its cutting loose. Trans feels great. the stall converter really woke the car up. if you have a uz powered car its gotta be best bang for buck mod. needless to say i'm in need of new rear tyres after one night out trawling.
  25. So lots of bits being upgraded and improved. Transmission oil pump has been rebushed and sealed. Also had the bush staked so it can't move again. We are thinking its heat thats doing it since its happened twice after being a dickhead doing burnouts and ringies etc. Also bought a 2800 stall. has all the fruit you can put in a stock converter. strengthened fins HD lock up clutch etc. UZS131 steering box has been a major pain. bolts to chassis but not to column. having to have the column modified. Worth it i beleive as the box is superior in design. Toyota crown RAG joints... took a while to find as there isnt any listings. Turns out holden gemini is the same. so i now have a urethane one. Should improve the steering feel immensely. especially considering my rubber one was completely FUBAR Also found my pitman arm was stuffed. Sent that off to be refurbished. got it back next day good as new. When i overhauled the suspension initially you couldnt buy them new. apparently now you can but id be dubious as to the fit as there is a couple different ones to suit the model. Also got myself a line locker so i can stop frying my rear brakes. Got all my bits together now just gotta put her back together and she'll be a different beast all over again.
