  1. That's my sort of car! just switch the AE bit for KE and 71 for 70 and they just the same....... besides the running gear....... *Note to self, get another car, build it for motorkhana stuff, hide it from the handbrake.......yeah* Overall, I like, but you can still strip heaps of weight out of it yet (and still have it looking like a car). Keep it up! :hmm:
  2. Please don't think I'm putting the shit into you here, I love dirt thrashing too........ But shift light @ 4000 RPM? WTF? ;) Or did you set it low for the pic? :hmm: KE70 Thrashers FTMFW! None better. :hmm: P.S. I love the chrome lips on the Steelie-cheese-cutters.......... Used to have a set on a '77 Corona wagon. Go for a full weight reduction! You don't need the dash, windows, doors, boot, bonnet, front quarters, lights, carpets, etc. Go Brutal! 1 seat (maybe 2 for passenger rides), steering wheel, pedals, shifter, speedo, "sideways switch"....... That's all you need. Oh, seatbelts kinda help....... And ratchet straps where the doors were. <----f@$king WIN! :hmm: Afterthought: Got pics/vids of dirt carving action? If yes, post 'em up!
  3. I vote option 2, quick stop and chat + photo ops, check fluids etc. Then go for the run through the hills....... I'm all for it, in the full sick auto 4K :hmm:  Still hinging on being a Sunday though......
  4. I'm in! :jamie: Oh, only if it's a sunday or monday......... Can we do sunday? I so want to take the new keto for a run......... Might even see if I can get a really decent camera for it too....... :hmm:
  5. If you figure it out mate, let me know, apparently 4 rego'd cars is too many.......
  6. ^^^^^ Fail *wonders if it's possible to bribe a pit inspector to get the KE20 road registered* :( Good find, nice little car, wish I could buy it...... But the handbrake would shoot me........ :)
  7. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!! If you ever decide to do an engine swap, I call shotgun on the 1J........ Those Chasers are the shit, good buy man....... :D
  8. Damn sight better than blocks of polystyrene, trust me........ Looking forward to seeing this thing go trail, will be a giggle at the very least........
  9. Which generation chaser is it? Luxo drift barge FTW!
  10. The question is: Is it legal to roll in and start tearing it up? I'm struggling my way around some legal issues with CPitDD, and will be speaking in detail to the fuzz soon to try and get some black and white answers...... (no, I'm not telling them when I plan to rip it up in a corolla, or where, or even that I'll be in a corolla, I'm asking them a hypothetical question and seeing what they say about it) Apologies NickZ, it seems that the firey I know (and myself) were quite wrong about the legality of this run, as such I'm taking steps to make this as above board as possible........ Hey Si, any chance of using one of those private fields you found? We can arrange legal indemnity forms to fill out so anyone who has an accident (however unlikely) can't sue anyone involved or the property owner........ Just a thought, giz a yell, yeah?
  11. Ok, just as a point of reference, I'm looking at the Castrol website now, and it suggests either: GTX3 - 15W 40 - This is for "demanding modern" engines, read: post 1995........ So, no. Magnatec - 10W 40 - This has "intelligent molecules" for "demanding driving conditions"........ Just no. GTX2 - 20W 50 - For "modern" engines, read: everything after 1990 requiring 20W 50......... So, no again, sort of. (right viscosity, wrong years. I wouldn't chance it) Everything suggested by their website I wouldn't use, so I sugggest this: GTX - 20W 50 - For "older" engines, the splash screen says pre 1984, but the tech data says pre 1990........ For the record, I'd use the GTX, but it IS up to you in the end. Happy shopping.......
  12. Castrol oils IMO, Castrol GTX *should* suit your engine, just off the top of my head, I think it's what I used to use in my old Keto's 4K. It's been a quite a while since then, so I can't remember clearly......... But go check out supercheaps oil listings and see what it recommends for the 4K. I've always used Castrol, and just won't turn back. But I'm stubborn, so try different things, see what you like best, but only use the correct viscosity oil, or risk engine damage in the long term. Keep us posted.......
  13. +1 Needs RATO methinks......... love to see the pilot try that in shanghai..........
  14. I made it 2 weeks then got booked, does that count? I follow van, I don't see 60 sign, I keep following van, I get done for speeding. :jamie: :y: dammit. My fault, I accept that, lesson learned, I no longer slipstream vans. :P
  15. You're only in danger if you happen to be walking on the footpath........... :P I don't know about anyone else, but I don't walk anywhere, I consider myself safe then....... :jamie: But seriously, Congrats Casey, and who's the sucker you've got riding shotgun?
  16. Does it help at all if it's NOT private land?
  17. Valid point, hence the "take it easy approach of the first day", flat stuff with minimum bumps for day one, and go harder from then on....... I do like the idea of roll cages though, happy to pay someone/supply beer to the person who can make one up for me........ Once we get into the serious stuff, I'll make rollbars mandatory, I know how dangerous it can get and don't want to see anyone get hurt, let alone killed. Dedicated thrashers FTW.
  18. Probably not for a while yet, me and Si need to go out there and scout out a BBQ area and motorkhana spot as well as find some other fun oportunities, plus I need to finish up the preparations on ORB MkII........ Random Q#1: Anyone got a spare KE70 manifold? Random Q#2: Anyone in the Launceston area handy with a welder? Plz PM me.......
  19. I know that technically there isn'tmuch corolla left here.......bit it IS moving........ :P
  20. I'll take the Caterham 7 and the blue prado <-----that can be my grocery-getter...... :P Seriously: very cool, I'd say "only in America" with that collection of cars, except your in Japan....... :y: But I am serious about the Sake-in-a-self-heating-can thing........
  21. No, didn't stop to put the doors back on...... :P Half were quite ruined from the manner in which they were removed. (They were jammed from the argument I had with the tree, so brute force prevailed) snagglepuss edited it in that way for a clean(ish) ending for the clip, he did a brilliant job with it, I contacted him last night @ about 4am and said "Hey man, can you make a clean mix of this footage..........Right now? Then host it on Youtube in the morning?" The ledgend that he is, he bloody did it too....... :) Yes, doors are over rated, they weigh you down, ratchet straps FTW. They were good at keeping me in the car the way they were positioned though. :bash: Safety is something everyone should consider when purchasing a new car.......... "Why doesn't this car have doors? Isn't that dangerous?" "Not at all, it saves weight, and these ratchet straps here are 'ANCAP 5 star specials', just don't stick your hands out" :bash: But seriously, next time it'll be a roll cage, harnesses, and huge air, and probably broken ribs....... Time off work! YAY!
  22. Sorry for the wait, Telstra is f@$king me over by messing with the exchanges around here, so uploading the Vid took much longer than anticipated...... BEHOLD! The madness that is me, Props to snagglepuss for editing/uploading the clip for me. :P Clicky Clicky :)
  23. Day, you won't be able to see much out there at night......... To make it easy, pick a day (just not a saturday, or this sunday) and I'll try and make it work......
  24. :P :) 7shades: I didn't doubt you, but the pics ARE freaky similar....... Kinda cool really.
  25. How In The f@$k Did you pick that? I just compared pics, and if you look at the roadkill *I mean, pedestrians* walking along the right hand side of the pic, it's identical.......
