  1. Aren't convertible Astra driving males all hairdressers?
  2. Yeah you're right, I do lose a fair bit with an auto, but there isn't much I can do about that so I'm just going to work with what I've got. Car is currently at the mechanics getting a cat back system on for now. He's also going to open up the pipe that goes from the standard manifold to the cat, to see if it'll help a bit. Got a compliment from him for buying something in such good condition. Looking into different front speaker combinations today too. Thinking 5.25" front splits and some 6" rear, with my slimline sub in the boot for a little bit of kick. Don't want anything sound comp capable, just enough to give my music some life.
  3. When payday comes, but pay is nowhere to be seen... Going to be asking questions if it isn't there in the morning.. I put in a solid amount of O/T plus working a public holiday.. Need it to bring the bank balance back to square one after this week with transfer of rego on new car, new insurance, phone bill and putting up a carsales ad.
  4. Sat down and added up all the service history. Around $3.500 in receipts just for routine maintenance. Going to look into putting LED lights in the instrument cluster, very dull at night. Don't want it to be 'in your face', just a little brighter. Next purchase on the list in a service manual so I can learn how to pull things apart without testing it out and breaking interior bits as I go.
  5. I know, it's auto, but this way my girlfriend, her mum and some of my family members can drive it too. Can't have it all my way, but being back in a Corolla is enough. Sorry to disappoint. It's a lovely car, and yeah I have seen the extractors on it and they look reasonably good, but some aftermarket items will surely up the torque a bit. Hey Ben, yeah I'll be organizing clear indicators for it soon enough. It does have the factory ones, but for a little more torque and while it's getting a major service done and a cat back system, I may as well go the whole hog. Enjoying the miserly fuel consumption too! Did a solid day of running around today and the needle only moved slightly :)
  6. Love it :) Such nice lines, the shape is very easy on the eye Low KM Very tidy Really well looked after car and it's quite a pleasure to pilot it. Goes around corners like they don't exist and for a 13/14 year old car, it accelerates smoothly and makes little fuss of any condition thrown at it. What I want to do is try my best to keep it neat and once the ute sells, slowly get around to the following: - Stereo (just need to remove from ute) - Headers and rear section of exhaust (no sports system, possibly 2" pipe, single muffler, small resi) - Wheels, but not until these tires are showing some age. - New shocks and low springs (only lows, just want a slightly better stance, again in time) It's so good to be back in the Corolla sanctum.
  7. So, by a stroke of luck, today I picked up my new Ae112r Conquest. Original 99,000km, owned by the same family for 10 years. The piles of service paperwork to go with it are almost the same size as the car! It's been pampered and garaged for most, if not all it's life. Completely stock standard. Drove beautifully on the way home from Port Melbourne. If it wasn't pouring with rain outside i'd have some pictures for you guys, but alas, no photos until I can get a chance.
  8. Managers who can't organise rosters.. Have 8 hour shift. No problem. Manager decides to take the four day weekend. DOESN'T organise for someone to relieve me from my shift. Didn't get a break in my 8 hour shift. Nobody else I could contact knew who was taking over. Eventually got someone to take over after the 9th hour. Definitely putting in for that O/T. If he complains, i'll give him something to complain about.
  9. On either Wednesday or Thursday i'll be picking up my 4th Corolla (2nd registered one), a lovely Ae112 with the bug-eye front end. Now, I don't know if I want to go to the effort of it or not, but I have been playing with the idea of converting it to the re-modeled front end that these cars came out with (1999 onward). I understand that i'll need a new pair of lights, a new front bar and a new bonnet (along with the associated looms for the lights). My question is this. Will I need to change the front guards too? IF I decide to do this, I'll be collecting parts slowly, bit by bit and get them all sprayed and installed professionally, to avoid a poor quality finish. However, I was just wondering how extensive the swap is. Who knows, I may just learn to love the front end on it now. Feedback appreciated guys, Thanks.
  10. Wasn't the cheapest, but I really didn't care. In the 6 price range. But I am happy to pay that for such extensive service history. The car was serviced, driven or not, every 3000km, give or take a hundred or so. It lives in the garage and is regularly washed and vacuumed. These people are pedantic. Just want to go pick it up already.
  11. WGMG. People who I am buying a car off have gone away for the Cup weekend and I can't go pick the car up for another week. First world problem, but still worthy of gear grinding.
  12. Buying a Corolla :D Blue AE112r Liftback, 99,000km, clean as a whistle. Only downside is I have to wait until Thursday for the owner to be back froim holiday before I can pick it up. Still makes me happy though ;)
  13. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/st-kilda/cars/2005-nissan-pulsar-sedan/1007374478# If the link doesn't work, it's a 2005 Pulsar Sedan with 120,000km and it looks super clean. Now, it's in my price range and it's a car that I wouldn't really be doing anything to besides just driving around and keeping neat. Value for money?
  14. Such an awesome picture! Good luck with the engine conversion mate, sure you are keen to get it sorted and driving again!
  15. Hunting for a genuinely well looked after car with decent mileage on it.. That makes my gears grind harder than a lap dancer
  16. Caffeine addiction has gone to a whole new level... Really need to cut back. Had 12 coffees today :S Didn't do a whole lot with the energy either. Plus I have to be up at 4am.. Ah shit. Another thing. Those people who put up an advert for a car for sale, and just don't take it down once the vehicle has sold. Rang up during the week about a few different cars on CarSales, all of which had already been sold, with one saying that it's been sold for over a month now. TAKE THE FREAKING ADVERT DOWN THEN....
  17. Sounds like music to my ears Really like where this car is going. Much else going to happen aesthetically?
  18. Been a real headache lately. Lucky for me, Dale at ACE in Croydon is a fantastic mechanic to deal with and has sorted the problem for me (we hope, will know tomorrow) would take any car to him and recommend him to anyone who needs a no bullshit mechanic. Car was having a shit of a time and was missing bad, only running on 3cyl until it was at operating temperature and even then it wasn't a lot better. Replaced DFI, Coils, Leads and Plugs (all three times each, in all separate combinations) as the initial replacement ones (Bosch) were no good. Had to keep giving the car over to Dale nearly every day (he didn't have a spare this week) and hope whatever they tried would crack the problem. What is even better is how little he charged me to have these all done. For new DFI, coils, plugs, leads and countless hours testing, retesting and retesting again, it came to parts cost only, so I was only up for about $280. Could be in the market in the new year for a different car.. We will see how money goes as i'll be moving out of home in January.
  19. Car looks a treat champ! Love where you are heading with it, this will get up and boogy with the new motor
  20. Love it! This car and what you've done to it is really swinging me back in the direction of a Corolla again. (having too many headaches with the crummydore). Was wondering if it's possible if you could put up a sound clip of the exhaust? Looks so good mate, keep it up!
  21. Goodluck mate! Chuck some vids up with your mounted camera when its all done and dusted :)
  22. New struts, link pin bushes and control arm bushes are going in Wednesday. Also a wheel alignment. Looking at sourcing an LSD soon for it, my single pegger is whining a bit much for my liking. When I find a decent second hand LSD, i'll also redo the uni joints. Was under the car during the week, found a decent section of exhaust between headers and cat that has been crushed (think it is the cause of my massive baffle at 3000rpm). Will look into some headers. EDIT: Also going to finally replace my non existent exhaust hangers at the gearbox... Been put together with one piece of wire lol... Managed to pick a nice dodgy car.. Then need to get the retaining clip for the auto trans lines, they're leaking because they aren't bolted down properly at the motor and are moving, causing a nice layer of crap to sit over the gearbox..
  23. Ordered new front struts for it recently and waiting on them to be delivered. Also going to order control arm bushes, castor bushes, tie rod end bushes and short stroke rear shocks soon when i get paid next. Going to organize some time with a flat driveway to attempt to put it all in on one day. Going to begin pretty early and try to do front and rear shocks (putting lower rear springs i have in too) and then the bushes while the front end is apart. Should take a good four hours or so, so long as there are no problems. Keen! :) Going to be replacing some interior pieces once that is all done and my bank account recovers slightly. Redoing carpet behind the seats and making my own roof lining. Also considering vinyl wrapping many plastic sections of my interior (all the plastic trim basically) as my new boss has huge piles of vinyl he wants to pass off. Will look nice hopefully!
  24. WGMG: Last two days at work the other driver just decides not to rock up... Just to piss me off..
