  1. Check out this Japanese black and white KE10 corolla advert.
  2. That does sound about right. About the biggest engine you'll get in there is 2.2L NA or 1.8 turbo (roughly).
  3. Wow I like em’. They make me think of rockabilly X choppers. This looks like a fun project. If it doesn’t cost you too much and is relatively easy I would definitely consider a bike like this as a side project. My favorite bike from Orange County Choppers was the Indian they did. I think these bikes have similar style.
  4. I have standard ke11 3k and exhaust. I cut the exhaust off just after the diff so no muffler and it was perfect IMO. Cruse along at 5000rpm and back it of to hear a nice growl. It was border line too loud like driving past cops or starting it up at 5am but was never pulled up for it. I had to get a road worthy so I put a 2” straight through offset muffler on and it was too quiet. I replaced the little resonator with a straight pipe and it is pretty good but I liked it heaps better without a muffler.
  5. Yeah! Finally you made it. Wow it’s beautiful. Could be the coolest car on Rollaclub.
  6. I am after some springs I might be able to get from a vehicle at the wrecker that will stiffen the front of the ke11. I was a bit too keen to lower the car and I’ve cut the ke20 ones I’m using a bit too far so the control arms are pointing slightly up. So I thought if I have to get some more anyway perhaps there are some thicker ones out of a Falcon or something with 125mm overall diameter. I’ll just take the tape measure with me and just check random vehicles if I have to but if anyone know of a car that would be cool. Let me know if I’m thinking out of line with this idea. Surely a 6 cylinder vehicles springs would be thicker and used in a ke would stiffen it up? Original 12” wheels still on the car.
  7. Looks like your car needs to be lowerd. Then the ones you got on might even look alright.
  8. My 3k starter gets stuck too. It just had a mind of it’s own. Some times I would turn the key (cold or hot) and no crank. If you tap/bash the starter with shifter or something it would work sometimes. Took it apart and cleaned it. Brushes were pretty worn but I think ok (I can’t find replacements). Worked for a while but now same thing so I suppose I’ll through a new one in there or take it to an auto dude. Mine's a Denso.
  9. Ooops I thought you where asking about adjustable shocks (dampers). Don’t ask me why.
  10. Well if KE20/30/5X strut inserts fit into KE10 struts I suppose you could get some KE5X strut inserts to fit in you KE20 struts. I would like to find some adjustables for my KE10 struts if I can. I found some struts inserts on the Koni web site that are for 1975-79 Corollas (KE5X in Aus). Part No: 86-1991 Sport. Koni Suspension In the “Toyota Australia” section further down the list, the earliest Corolla is 1981-85 (KE70). The part number is the same: 86-1991 Sport. KE70 won’t fit coz they’re a bit bigger. I’m wandering if KE5X’s is other countries use different inserts to the ones in Aus. Anyone know? I might ring up a Koni supplier and ask for the shock piston diameter and strut tube OD for that part number.
  11. The original springs in the KE10 are pretty thin and the leaf takes up a percentage of the weight of the front. I’m using thicker coils so I don’t think the leaf is necessary. Yeah perhaps you should do your breaks before you mount the sway bar. I may have to drill new holes for the sway bar if the KE30 breaks don’t fit.
  12. Did the sway bar come with instructions? Mine did but they where a bit difficult to understand. I figured it out though, obviously.
  13. Why doesn’t it fit with Ke30 brakes? I hope to do that conversion on my car so it better bloody work.
  14. Does the W-58 fit straight to the engine? What bell housing is used?
  15. The car would have to weigh 905kg to put a CA18DET in. It goes buy cc (cubic capacity) to weight. Turbo engine is 1.5x its cc. Rotary is x2. In qld.
  16. How did you blow the fuse? Did you disconnect the battery before install? You might have a spare fuse under the dash in the fuse box.
  17. Yeah RCA’s just send a signal that’s not amplified. So don’t connect speakers straight to them. Get your self an amp with a low pass filter. Mono block amps are the way to go for subs I believe. Probably get a new one for 2 or 300 bucks maybe less.
  18. This may have been already covered but I thought I’d post my research on engine conversion legalities in Queensland. Here is the Queensland transport vehicle modification section of the web site: Vehicle modifications So I ring up an “Approved Person” and he tells me the formula for the maximum engine capacity allowed for a vehicle (with relevant safety equipment upgraded of coarse eg. breaks): I think this is in the under 1000kg vehicle category: Weight of vehicle x 3 = max cc’s allowed (ke10 = 710kg x3 = 2130cc). Rotary engine is equivalent to double its cc (12a = 1146cc x2 = 2292cc). Turbo engine is equivalent to 1.5 its cc (ca18det = 1809cc x1.5 = 2714cc). So if I have this all correct this would mean I can’t drop a N/A 12a in my ke10 or even a 5k turbo (a 4k turbo would be acceptable). The thing is I’m not totally satisfied with the extent of my research because crazier conversions are obviously plentiful. In the specific modifications section of the page it reads: "Modifications which are not covered by this booklet or the Approved Persons Scheme, or modifications which involve substantial structural changes to the body or chassis of a vehicle, require a written submission. A fee is payable for the evaluation of plans." I’m wandering if this means I can submit an application regarding my 12a into ke10 project. I’ll go get the application next week and continue my research but if anyone can set me straight or knows more on the subject I’m all ears.
  19. Yeah did some searching hard to find info. Sounds like T-50 needs mod’s to fit. Just thought if someone really wanted a 3k-r then a 4e-fe might be the next best thing.
  20. Yeah but being fwd doesn’t seem to stop people using 4age’s in rwd conversions
  21. Looks like the same rocker cover as the 4e-fte which is probably a very similar engine. 74 mm Bore, 77.4 mm Stroke (1300cc) and 135hp @ 6400rpm. Why don’t people drop these in old Corollas?
  22. Just looked at ya boot pick. Looks like you got the 4 gauge happening. I wouldn’t have thought adding gauges would make a dramatic difference. They only have small lights in them and if the lights are off I don’t think they would drain any power. You might have to check your wiring that no wires are touching metal (except earth wires of coarse). My friend’s car had a big problem with a bodge job wiring loom. Wires where hanging every where touching other wires and the metal under the dash. As a result the battery would lose charge over night. I’m not sure if that’s the best place to earth your amps either. A good solid earth is really important.
  23. Hay man. I have the same problem but when I went to a couple of different audio shops they told me to first upgrade my wiring, alternator and battery. I now use 4 gauge wire from battery to amp (by the looks of your system you should use at least that). Also got myself an Optima dry cell battery with high cranking amps which just about throws the engine out the bonnet when I turn the key. The lights don’t dim half as much as they did and I’m still yet to upgrade the alternator which when tested wasn’t producing any charge at idle I was reading some in-depth discussion between audio gurus on capacitors. Opinions differ and test results vary as to whether they are good, bad or do anything at all. My conclusion was that I’ll go without unless I learn otherwise. I wonder if the audio competition guys use capacitors or not. I think they just use multiple batteries in parallel.
  24. Hay guys, any help appreciated. I believe it’s possible to re-drill axles (and drums) to change stud pattern. Am I correct? Does any one know if my ke10 Borg Warner diff axles will slip straight into my ke10 jap diff? I hope someone knows so I don’t have to find out the hard way. TRD LSD! X series 5.6” B series 5.7” and you series 6”. The X series is the cheapest and most available one I can find. Any one know if there ok for 100 – 150hp. Also are the TRD LSDs re-buildable? If so the kits are probably as hard to find as the center.
  25. The blue car is perfect. You must be so proud! A little lower if anything. Love the jungle green, engine bay and flairs. I’d get the same KONIG rims for the KE20 to fill the guards. Then drop it like it’s hot. Drop it like it’s hot.
