Raven's Ke25 Corolla Memorial Rebuild - Now Parting Out
seabiscuit replied to Raven's topic in Rollaclub Rides
Great read, Raven! The car is going to look tops :bash: I love the look of the KE25's. I love the look of a lot of Corolla's! :bash: Wish I had lots of money to buy one of each :bash: Also, I haven't seen one of these in the thread so here it is: :jamie: Keep up the great work. Next time I check this thread, I hope there's a picture with smoke billowing out of the rear guards and a thumbs up sticking out of the driver window! Vinnie -
This happened to me when my KE70 got stolen - the only thing damaged was the ignition, car steering lock and plastics surrounding it. My $20 was still in the ashtray, glovebox wasn't opened, sunglasses, etc. were still there, although unfortunately my schoolbag was stolen :D The cops told me that it wasn't unusual for a car to be undamaged as most car thieves only steal it for a lift to, and occasionally back, from town! Still is a prick of a thing to happen when your car gets stolen. :D Oh yeah, and best thing to scare off thieves is an alarm (a really loud one). My friend put TWO house alarm sirens under the dash. The noise is ear-splitting 5-10m from the car, so even if the thief gets in the car, they'll pretty much die of blood loss from the ears :y:

Glad... The stock rims on the back made it look cheap! Need some pics of your ride with all four rims. How did the TE71 panel trial fit go? I'm interested to know. ps. Who wouldn't love a KE70? Shame on whoever does!

I <3 KE70's :( Very nice, Falken. I vote meshies! |blink|

The Purple Car was driven to school today and I had an unlimited amount of interest in the car. Everyone was coming over and commenting on the "fatness/toughness/coolness" etc. of the car, with plenty of stares from onlookers while driving the tough sounding and looking Purple Car. Now that I've had a decent, but not thorough look at the Purple Car, I've determined what I'm going to do with it... It's going to sit in my front driveway for a few months before I can get together some cash to do some panel work. Then, I will try my best to take EVERYTHING apart and clean, recondition and re-paint it as I want to do a really good job of restoring it to good condition. Once the panel work is done, I will focus on bringing the interior to a very clean, original-looking standard. After the interior is completed, I will work on the mechanics of the car and possibly build up a strong 5k motor with a good suspension and brake setup so it will be a real fun car to cruise in! I have found several problematic rust spots. Under the front of the car, under the engine bay there are quite a few holes and badly wounded spots. There is a "decent" sized rust spot on the driver-side front pillar, on the bottom of the tailgate where moisture has built up, under the right hand rear seat back rest hinge, the back of the rear right wheel arch and a few other areas I'd say! I hope the panel work isn't going to cost too much :( I wish it were like my rust-free (not even surface rusted) Red Car. This is going to be one long, enjoyable project! |blink|

Here is the link to my Gallery to look at the pictures of the Purple Rolla. Please comment on the thread, rather than in the gallery, please. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?a...m&album=100 I'm not sure on how to get a number of decent sized pictures on threads without using up all of my "attachment space". I saved the images as 1024x768 sized JPEG's, which is a good size. I'm not too keen on image-hosting websites, since they sometimes go down. What's the best way to get photo's up for decent viewing? Also, let me know what you think of the car. I'm very interested in ways I can change it or make it better! Thank you for looking! Vinnie

UPDATE: Well, folks... The Purple Car has made it back to Canberra. I was very happy with the performance of the car on the 8 hour drive home. The 3k purrs like a dog. :D Exhaust: The exhaust is a 2" or 2.5" from the middle muffler with a Hot Dog in the middle - sounds beasty as! Motor: Standard 1.2 litre 3k motor in very good running condition. Not sure on the mileage it has done because of the 5 digit odometer. Suspension: Stock suspension in the front with cut springs and leaf springs/Monroe shocks (standard?) in the rear. Brakes: Drums on the back and standard? discs on the front. It had a LOT of air in the brake lines and had to put your foot down to stop it on the way home. Interior: Very clean looking front seats. Passenger is overrated and drivers is decent although a collapsed side and a few unnoticeable splits. The rear seat is a little damaged on the top from stretching and things resting on it and a few on the back rest, but will clean up alright. The dash pad has a couple splits in it unfortunately, but the front of the dash is fairly clean and tidy apart from a corner broken off of the ashtray. The door trims on the front are pretty good, mainly because they don't have speaker holes cut in them, although there are a couple tears and cuts just next to the back rest of the seat, which aren't real easy to spot without the door being open. The rear door trims are decent and will clean up nicely. The boot/rear of the car is a little tacky because it had "shag" :jamie: pile in the back, which was glued on with some gel-grip. Body: The body of the car is a little disappointing. There are small, but fixable rust spots all over the place, such as on the driver-side front pillar, on the bottom of the tailgate, a little underneath the front of the car and small places here and there on panels. There is also a fair few little dents, all over, which spoil the look of it when close up. The bumpers are also (both) a little bent and twisted up. Wheels: I'm in love with the rims on the car. They just match perfectly! Cheviot Hotwires 13x6's I believe, which look pretty tough on it, which still have decent rubber on them. (I will be putting these rims - if they fit - onto my Red Car, since I don't have any rubber on the red car tyres). It was also disappointing to find a stock spare tyre, rather than a Cheviot :D Overall, I'm pretty happy with the car for just over $500 and I hope to one day have it all straightened up and looking clean, with a tough little motor to give it a bit of bite. Pictures will be in the following post.

It sounds funny, but what is a "key-banger?" :)

I read a post from last year stating that we could get free tickets for the summernats if we participated in a Car Club display. Is it the same case this year? I'd be very interested in getting free tickets! When my wagon gets here, I'll see if I can give it a quick makeover to make it look pretty and it can participate :)

P-plater spec :P nice work! :) :D

Haha, I searched Delorean and YES, I am going back in time. Back to the future FTW :P I must use this quote when I get the opportunity. :D I was meant to write November :)

UPDATE: I called up the bloke I'm picking the car up off and he said he forgot to tell me that the car has a SPORTS EXHAUST! What a bargain! A custom paint, 13" cheviot hotwire rims, and a sports exhaust Corolla :D Ordered my permit from VIC Roads today for 3 days - just incase we break down on the way home :)

UPDATE: I have booked accomodation, have a full car of friends and a fresh tank of petrol ready for my long awaited 6+ hour trip to Pakenham in Melbourne this weekend (1st and 2nd of October) to pick up the Wagon. :D Will post up pics possibly on Monday afternoon. Till then, keep Corolling everybody :hmm:

I'd love that, Sam... Should make a new thread for it - "Quad shocks on KE3x front - How-to guide" - or something like that :D Nice wagon. I bought one for $500 too! Cheers, Vinnie.

Hey hey! I'm a new RollaClub member and am from Kambah! I have a red KE70 that drives frequently around tuggeranong/southside areas. If you've seen this car, it has probably either been sideways, had its bonnet up on the side of the road, or surrounded by a cloud of dust :y: If you see me doing naughties in this car, please don't call the cops on me. I'm on my last warning! hahahah :lolcry: I've also just bought myself a KE36 wagon, which I plan to do up. Would also love to meet up at a RollaClub meet if they still happen in the big bad 'Berra. Seabiscuit! (Vinnie)

C'mon guys.. Copy and paste the template to your posts. Makes it a lot easier later on. Thanks for the responses so far, though. Keep it up. :lolcry: Here is a blank template!!!!!!!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Car: Modified/Unmodified: Rim Size: Rim Offset: Stud/Bolt Pattern: Tyre Size/Profile: Fitment Note: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRR.. I'd spent an hour+ and almost finished writing up this post, when Mozilla Firefox crashed, leaving me to rewrite the darn thing all over. :lolcry: ANYWAY! Okay, folks. I'm starting up a thread for everyone to post up the details about rim and tyre sizes on their Corolla's, so that we can make a "Rims and Tyres - A Buying Guide for RWD Corollas" database. What I'd like everyone to do is use the template below and post up information about their car and the rims and tyres that are on it, so I can create a database for reference purposes just to give buyers/researchers a basic idea of what rims/tyres will fit, what won't fit and how it will look on their Corolla. So once we get enough information on each of the cars, I'll make up a database and send it in to the admin and hopefully we can have our own helpful little database for a buyers guide to rims and tyres for RWD Corollas! Here is the template for posting your details (with examples). Please post up any other idea's for the template if I missed something or would be good information for first-time buyers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Car: 1977 KE30 4 Door Sedan Modified/Unmodified: Corona struts, lowered 2", Celica diff (OR) Standard. Rim Size: 17x7 inches Rim Offset: -3 Stud/Bolt Pattern: 4x100mm Tyre Size/Profile: 255/45/16 (255 = Tyre Width; 45 = Profile Size [percentage of tyre width]; 16 = Rim Diameter) Fitment Note: The wheels fit fantastic! They sit in the guards very well. They do not stick in too far, but do not stick out far enough to scrub, giving it a tough stance. Previously, however, the rims had tyres with a 65% profile and scrubbed when turning sharp and/or bumpy corners at speed! (please tell if guards are lipped/flared in any way) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a guide for those of you who aren't too familiar with what each of these are. Rim size is the size of the rim, measuring the diameter of the circle of the rim (straight across middle), and the width between each bead. (17 inches diameter, 7 inches wide) Rim offset, measured in millimeters, can be negative or positive, and is the distance from the hub-mounting surface to the rim's true centerline. A positive offset will mean that the rim sits further IN from the guards, rather than a negative offset, which will sit further OUT, towards the guards. Stud/Bolt Pattern is the amount of and spacing of the studs on the wheel hub (4 studs, 100 millimeters distance between each diagonally opposite stud) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If we could get a database for each of the Australian-released Corolla's, it will help out plenty of people out there looking to buy some new rims for their corolla! Here is a list below showing all of the Rear-Wheel Drive Corolla's released in Australia. PLEASE tell me if I missed anything and I'll edit post. First Generation Corollas KE10, KE15, KE16, KE18, KE17 Second Generation Corollas KE20, KE25, KE26, Third Generation Corollas KE30, KE35, KE36, KE38, KE50, KE55 Fourth Generation Corollas KE70 Fifth Generation Corollas AE86 Thanks for reading guys, hopefully we can get this database up ASAP to benefit all! :y:

I'd say that's right... 2" bigger in wheel diameter and 1" wider. So yes, 15x6.5's. BUT I'd have to have atleast 15x7's on the back. Need to be wide!! :lolcry: Haha.. "Yet"

Believe me, I don't want to do the car like this. Want it to be a LOT different. I just was messing around in Photoshop. I'm thinking of doing a nice blue colour; possibly similar to Teddy's '70, but where the orange stripes are, perhaps have it white to match with a white grille. :lolcry: I've been told (for Canberrans) that wheels can be 2 sizes larger than regular. With some thinner tyres it won't be a cop magnet. Although, i'd really like fats on the back. Looks cool. I spelt it right on the first one! I was in a hurry for work :y:

Haha!!! Just spent the last hour or so photoshopping the car to see how customizable it is :( Where I did the rims, they are the SSR Mesh rims that I have grown to like since seeing plenty of cars on the RollaClub with them and looking schmick. Although, with these ones, I accidentally inverted the color (from black) to this awesome bright-gold colour! I doubt anyone could make rims "glow" like this, but gold rims must look pretty cool anyway  . I don't really want the paint to look like this, but it still looks kinda cool in this one. The only thing I did, really is change the color and put some new rims on it, I guess! Tell me what you think! Haha :laff:
