  1. It wasn't a complete race track or massive skid pan or test track like on the show Top Gear. It's no more than 40x40 metres. BUT, even with such a small track, we could get some pretty "hektyk" drifts going. Here is a couple of videos on the 5th-Gear Motorsports (Canberra) website. Skid Pan Video 1 Skid Pan Video 2 Like I said, you can see that the track is REALLY small, but you saw some of drifts you can pull off. You start with a BIG drift on the main corner, then you need to precisely aim into a smaller complex set of corners and then around the home straight hairpin and that's it.. About 25 seconds to do a lap. Still a huge amount of legal fun and excitement in your car. And remember, it's only for beginners or for a bit of legal fun. I'm waiting to get some pictures and videos of the day sent to me via email, so I can show off my first attempt at non-street drifting. ps. Would be a good gathering for Rollaclub members. If you book half a day for 10 or more people you get a free barbeque and professional quality DVD. That is, if there are more than 10 members in the Canberra region. :y:
  2. This morning I had one of the most exciting and fun experiences in my Corolla... THE funnest actually. I went to a skid pan in the Sutton Forest (outskirts of Queanbeyan - near Canberra), where we hired a track and a defensive/racing training driver for 4 and-a-half hours. We had 15 minute sessions with 2 cars in a group of 8 cars on the track for each session to practice our technique while having the instructor in the car if you choose to, who gives us advice on how to improve. It was a great learning experience for me and a few of the others that came along to the day as we all had an insight into the motor racing sport of drifting. Plus, we had a ripper of a time. For those people who are beginners or are wanting to get into drifting, I strongly recommend skid pan days for you and your mates to go along to. Or, if you're a lonely bugger and have no friends that are into drifting or cars, every month (or few?) there is a public day for people to meet up and have a chat with the trainers and have a go on the skid pan. Booking is essential! I did mine with 5th Gear Motorsports. You can google it. Pics and maybe vid will be up soon! Good luck everybody! Seabiscuit
  3. Update! The 3mm steel was difficult to cut with snips, so I used a hacksaw. But I got the strut in and out "easily" enough. Putting the clip back in when re-installed was a little difficult as the bracket wasn't perfectly straight. If you're not taking the strut completely out and are just getting it out of the way, you can also remove the brake calipers to give yourself a little extra slack on the lines, rather than cutting the bracket. Mission complete!
  4. I thought I'd have to do this. I didn't want to decimate it. Thanks very much! :(
  5. I'm putting some lowered springs in my KE70 and I need to get the front struts out to change the springs over. I've ran into a little problem and can't find a quick solution. On the strut, the small hole where the brake lines run through it, don't have a little slit to slide the lines out of (as I thought it would), and I don't want to undo the brake lines and have to bleed them when I put it back together. How can I get the strut out without playing around with the brake lines?
  6. Lots of people would be interested in this. You could possibly do the whole kit. Lip, spoiler, flares and all! Will look tough when it's finished! Well done on the work
  7. I see! Very valuable information right there :P
  8. Why is it that you shouldn't weld it fully? It looks "holy" with all of them uneven gaps! Love the colour by the way! Looks hot. But it definitely needs some hot-pink flames. :P .... and a RollaClub sticker.
  9. I wouldn't play around with the thermostat.. The recommended (standard) thermostat is what was made for the car as the thermostat lets water flow through the cooling system as soon as the engine is at its most efficient operating temperature. So if you put a different one in, it will start regulating the flow of coolant before or after the time it was intended to start doing so! A cheap aftermarket gauge would be the best option. Buy one from supercheap. I'd just install it under the dash near your knees or if you like fiddling around, try make it "fit in" with the other gauges on your dash and replace the stock gauge with it. I'm sure someone in your area from RollaClub wouldn't hesitate to give you a hand at installing it.
  10. You won't make much selling it in parts either... The rims, however, would be worth more than the car as a set. If the ONLY thing defectable on it is the height of it, I'd just get some higher springs and cheap steelies, sell the wheels seperately and then sell the car as a whole. It's a pain to part out a car and when you have only half of a car left, no one will want it, except the scrappers. It might be worthwhile trying to get a RWC if you do it this way. It has only done 145,000 km's remember! You'd get atleast $500-700 minimum if it runs and drives well. Good luck with it, though... Them rims are kickass BTW  So is the number plate, haha! :P
  11. Woo! ACT - 1 I'm awesome :P
  12. Grrr... can't believe I missed the 'Nats  I like the Ke20 eze 10's :P
  13. So many good KE36 rear bars!!!!! *shakes fist* So many rare cars just wasting away. That 2000gt would have been worth a million dollars! Makes me want to punch babies! :)
  14. Damn that's a nice car! Can't wait till you get the quads in, get it lowered and put them new rims on! Cannons :) are try-hard stuff. REAL exhausts are the go.
  15. Very helpful. :) Not sure if I was measuring the right parts, but with rough measurements with a tape measure I'm pretty sure they're "ma61 2.8 gt celica/supra" as quoted in the table. Fun :lmao:
  16. Anyone interested in the rims BTW? Rims are excellent condition, but baldy tyres.
  17. I've confirmed that they are Starion rims and that the exhaust is sports (with a hole in the muffler), and I'm pretty sure they are aftermarket springs. I still haven't checked on the struts. Will research it a bit more. A bit too late. The whole body is a "little" dinted up now. Ie, we now have a "low-profile" roof and lots of other panels kicked in. At one point we were almost going to make it a convertible. I too was thinking of parting it out and making money, but we'd bought it to be a paddock basher and it basically got ruined the first day we had it. EDIT: I will possibly be parting it out (if anyone is interested) within a couple weeks. Post up what you're looking for and I'll give you a price depending its condition. All panels, which were basically rust free : DOH : are all dinged up now "sigh".
  18. Must try the struts and/or springs on daily ;) My friend just bought a Starion the other day. I'll compare the rims. Starion's are apparently rare as rocking horse shit in Australia! Haha, his turbo is about the size of a fist.
  19. I've just picked up a KE70 for $400, which is going to be my paddock basher. The guy I bought it off had no idea what was in it, but was told that it has sports exhaust and suspension as it was to be turned into a race car before the guy he got it off moved overseas. I'm 99% sure it has the sports exhaust (complete with a holy muffler). There's some "supra" struts that were in the boot. He says it gave it negative camber and made it handle well, but again, he said he had no idea really. It also has had a bit of Nolathane put in it. I don't think it has had a whole-car treatment of Nolathane, but I know it has a couple things here and there. I'm just not sure on the suspension, as my friends rekon they're just cut springs. But do stock (early) KE70 springs come in bright red? The shocks are buggered for one, but the springs seem pretty stiff. My stock Ke70 springs aren't red, so I'm pretty excited if they are aftermarket ones as I'll put them in my daily. Also unsure of the rims, which have "JWL" stamped on them. Questions are: 1. Are they aftermarket springs? 2. What struts are they? Worth anything? 3. What rims are they? Worth anything? Here's a few pics.
  20. $3000 for axles and springs!! Crikey sounds expensive. How much would you be looking at for a complete new trailer like this? Looking fantastic by the way ;)
  21. I want to go on a cruise :bash: We need some more Canberra action. Vote 1 RollaClub visits the Canberra region! Will anyone be in town for Summernats? Cos I won't! :y: Stupid stuff that I booked ages ago and paid for. GRR ;) I don't think I have any LEGAL fun in my Rolla. Put an xbox or playstation in your car. You can have fun in a car while being completely stationary!
  22. Paid for 1 calendar! Can't wait ;)
  23. YEA! I'm here. I'd be here a lot more also if there was a bit more action around. I hope my parts discussion thread makes some :y:
  24. I'll definitely be at the... ARGH! I just realised that I've made plans to go to Sydney to visit some friends then. I completely forgot about the nats! :y:  :bash: Pretty pissed off that I'm going to miss this years, but make sure you guys represent :y: Post up some pics if there are any phat Rolla's there!
  25. It is for me, since my Aisin (stock) carby has a broken secondary vacuum (AS I'VE BEEN TOLD) and 2nd jet isn't working, meaning half the fuel, and half the power. My friend had the same problem in his Sigma, which went pretty horrid, so he fixed it, and now it runs almost twice as good. So hopefully I'll be getting LOTS more fuel into my motor, giving me LOTS more power, making drifts a LOT more funner :P I liked that video of the KE70 before. Wish I knew where some cool roads like that were. :lmao:
