  1. Thats like dentists, $200 & SOMETHIN for less than half an hours work.
  2. Its going good thanks, can confirm 6000+rpm revability :jamie:
  3. You finally got a tacho! Will be good once all the new bits are in. Don't forget to put pics up of the new addition :)
  4. Just swap the odometer/speedo from your old dash to your tacho dash. Take the clear front off and there is like two screws on the back.
  5. As Felix says, valve clearances. Valves are probably open non stop. My 4K has a snapped head bolt and its fine. (Bought it like that) What you need is a set of feeler gauges, your manual, a flathead screwdriver and a 12mm ring spanner.
  6. Saw "QBN-80Y" today on a new Triton. Anyone who knows Queanbeyan will lol, not much to be proud of thats for sure.
  7. Haha yeah, cheap is good! :D Was thinking of rebuilding my old one anyway, and by rebuild I mean headgasket. Bodge yes, cheap yes. Bearings seem okay, but haven't finished pulling engine apart yet. Got camshaft out, can anyone say lumpy regrind?
  8. Yummy is correct.. Still ran quite well considering the coolant in number 3  Yep timing is all sorted, no its not detonating. Could be the big ends which are making it vibrate, does it especially when giving it a few revs. Rattling is constant. Snapped head bolt is in the one I got off you. Head is off my old engine. Nothing terminal but, goes good nuff. Thanks again :D
  9. Yeah few small problems. Snapped head bolt, No thermostat, Funny rattling noise (not the valve clearance), Bit of a vibration to the engine as well, think thats about it though, goes alright! I'll pull the old engine apart and maybe rebuild it. Inside of rocker cover
  10. Thanks for the engine Vince! In and running as of yesterday..
  11. I was going to do it on saturday so I have all day to do it. Have a class which starts at 1 in Belco so would be stretching it to get it done. Thanks for the offer though! :) Am keen to see this new rolla as well :)
  12. I don't think its crap, its just that a little more variety would be good. Nothing wrong with a dirty great burnout though thats for sure.
  13. Hell yes! You are a Legend with a capital L! Don't need anything cept engine itself. Would it be possible to dump the oil out? Cos I'll probably be putting it in the boot of the rolla. I'll bring tools and pull everything you want off, so you don't have to. Um, I'd like to swap engines on sat, what days and times are you free? I can pick it up prolly midday tues, wed morn/late arv or sat if thats good for you? And by 4 link arms I mean the bottom rear sussy arms.
  14. Yeah cool bring it along next time. Um you wouldn't happen to have 2 long 4 link arms spare would you? I've been keeping an eye out for tacho's too.. EDIT: I've realised that my engine is running on a water/petrol mix, so I think its only got a few days left. Rather than spending hundreds on a new head, I was hoping you might be willing to sell your 4K Seabiscuit? Quicker and easier and cheaper than replacing a head which I don't have, and you can have it back once/if I put the twincam in. Plus I'll throw in that sunroof if you want... Its a good deal, prease?
  15. Ah summernats, "hey look, a pushrod v8. Whoa, theres one with a blower!" Wonder what 2010 will be like with new organisers.
  16. I'll be there, was probably the best car event I went to last year!
  17. Yeah I went to the swap meet, didn't see the yellow Fairlane though. Didn't find anything, got wet and cold (damn ice), went back to my car and some bright spark had parked me in. ugh. Seabiscuit, pics needed of flat front. No tacho soz :jamie: Sloth, good luck with the 86, would like to see it on the next cruise!
  18. Yeah saw that ad. Might drive by on saturday after the swap meet. Also hopefully going to look at this AE71. I also have a few bits that I don't need if interested Seabiscuit. Like a playa sunroof.
  19. I vote yes! Must have good drunken story/adventure included.
  20. For the 4age conversion. The bloke I got the other conversion bits off is paranoid he'll break the g/box in his clubman, so he doesn't want to sell it.
  21. Didn't know you were there! That KE70 would have suited a tight track so well hey. Did you see the gun-metal grey KE70 in the carpark? Chopped bumpers, twincam, mmm..
  22. What parts did you want out of it? Because I'm thinking of buying an AE71 for its gearbox mainly, plus a few other little bits. Found a KE70 the same as mine the other day, orange CS, unreg, weeds growing up around it outside someones house.
  23. The rapid deceleration/fluctuations in speed of the compressor would put a lot of pressure on the turbine and the shaft would it not? Especially axial thrust on the shaft, which would cause premature bearing wear.
  24. Yeah the Cotter Cruise was rad! Thanks for organizing it Sammo and Vince! Looks like some nice cars came down from Sydney too. So is the swap meet over the two days? I'll keep saturday free if I can, and we should meet up early. Maybe half an hour before it opens? Maybe we should have a short cruise after as well
  25. "None of what I say is false, its all documented. By me, on my website." Bit of a nut.
