  1. you can get a 4k for nothing these days but who knows what condition its in, there all old thrashed in most cases... if you know the history of your current motor, might be better off getting a hg full kit got mine for like $40 change the head gasket, as u tear it down other gasket like exhaust manifold, thermostat housing etc...will most likely crumble so the kit suppllies all of the gaskets... get the head pressure tested.. if its ok get it machined flat.. may cost between $100 to $150 i would change the thermostat and get the radiator flushed as well...
  2. maybe strip as much weight of it as posible .... but i suppose you probably already did that...
  3. good work she is going to be clean fresh looking ke35 keep it up....
  4. if its anything like my set up in the ae35 the clutch master from a ta22 has an adjustment fork in the cabin at the pedal..... if the clutch is grabbing high up and you want it to grab lower, you may need to loosen the screw or pin and spin the fork clockwise maybe 2 times, should grab closer to the floor. also try bleeding the system have someone hold the clutch in and from the slave undo the bleed screw might see bubbles if air in system and then fluid. tighten it then release the clutch pedal... might need to repeat this a few times. don't let the master run empty of brake fluid.
  5. anyone with this tacho pictured most likley when set on 6 is in fact suitable for 4 cylinder....seems like a few people on here have had this glitch...
  6. evan g did mention a resistor to me haha.... i had a tinker tonight and switched to the aparent 6 setting and now the tacho idles bang on 1000rpm and revs climb how k engine should....so in my case the tacho is shit may have been packaged as 4,6,8 but is reality 3,4,6.......
  7. must of been taken out previously... does it take a long time to heat up ?
  8. i just sussed out the online manual for my tacho on the trisco website http://www.trisco.com/manuals/LED%20TACHOMETER.pdf , and it shows it can select between 3,4,6 maybe in asia?... not 4,6,8 as the sticker on my tacho and instructions show...so maybe i got the one with wrong settings... ill will report back what i find when i switch it around....
  9. yeh the tach didnt come with any resistor as such.... i will try and set it a 8 see what happens otherwise get the resistor idea going... hopefully someone in here knows the right resistor to use...
  10. yes ill go ahead and try set it on 8... i was thinking it should half the signal doing that but thought id run it by here first... cheap as in $45 off evilbay... but it changes to 8 colors that works great haha..... to bad it don't read right!
  11. i installed a tacho in my ke 35.. its 52mm cheapy where the clock normally goes, its got settings on the back for 4,6,8 cylinder.... its all wired correctly and is set on 4 but appears to be reading double.......idle showing 2,000 rpm and as revs build goes all the way to 7,500rpm to easy.. don't think the 3k will see those revs lmao.... the tach signal ive taken from the - on the coil... been told need to put a resistor on the wire..is so how many ohms?? before i put the resistor on what will happen if i set the tacho at 6 or 8 will that potentially fix the issue? :jamie:
  12. any yr corolla of that era will be fine depends on what u like the look of, sedan or coupe or Wagon? just go for the one with a descent body the less rust the better, mechanicals can be repaired easily....

  15. good pics guys good turn out..... id be down for the king lake cruise.;)
  16. the 3k hasnt had a hard life being auto, it was pretty clean inside when dismantled..... havent compression tested it.. but it feels slower than usual lol havent had a real good run as its not registered. kickdown to first feels funny revs hard no tacho lmao the front end lights worked out good wanted it to look like it was meant to be there not those massive spotties i see on some cars..
  17. Decided it was time to start a rides thread!! Background on cars- Ive had the black ke35 since new in my family and will never part with it, it started as a british green 2 speed auto 3k. Through the yrs it had a colour change to black then engine upgrade to 4k+k50... when i blew the hg in the good ol 4k. now its powered by a 4age smallport as pictured... The white ke35 i bought recently cheap, was going to be my parts car but i couldnt do it haha. she is virtually rust free and original 3k+2 speed auto+ stock hubcaps! Besides a new mp3 deck & speakers i just installed. Engine had a blown hg and radiator which have been repaired big thanks to Evan G from the forums for coming around and helping me repair it and get it running. Just got some shots Enjoy
  18. my ke35 3k-h has this set up as pictured above.....some kind of breather as evan g mentioned....
  19. no probs mate.....as for plans get the grinder on the front springs and some lowerings blocks for the rear standard height corollas are strange haha jk
  20. Bundoora seem to be more laid back .... i agree... my bro took his car there its a toyota chaser and they just check the vin & engine number.... the engine number on the 1j is stamped on the block in a awkward location we couldnt even really see it, the assesor was like yep i see it! she did walk around the car and checked the tyres..... mind you his car has coilovers and sits low as well as wheel spacers up front and a full stainless canon exhaust....i was surprised at how easy it was.... :)
