  1. salvage - i would get a custom tailshalft made.... the stock one is just too small, and the unis will explode with any decent amount of power. Also agree regarding the S13 suspension. Although its possible to fit it... the geometry will be all out, and will totally mismatch with the rear suspension making for an unpredictable handling car. There are prefabbed engine mounts to fit CA18 into AE86 sprinter, which will be useable in your KE70 if you swap in an AE71 engine crossmember.
  2. van can - its just a thing against SMS shorthand typing. There is no point to it really. As for the quote of mine, well thats just a combination of typing too fast (I'm above 40wpm touch typing) and trying to emphasise the point that a thermostat is somewhat seriously required. and yes, we are being pendantic.... but this is the internets, being pedantic is a good waste of time and stretch of the old grey matter. Blinded - the buddy christ has been with me on most forums since about 2003. He will never leave.
  3. whats a "gud"?
  4. look... a pic of my BUDGET turbo smallport 4age (stock 4age with turbo added). Ran about 10-11psi... which made about 115kwkW.
  5. hey check it out... those are my pics :y: p.s. I'm awesome.
  6. as a track car.... it would be pretty good on the straights, and completely USELESS everywhere else (braking, cornering, etc) Burnout car, drag car - yeah awesome :y: Personally, if i were to really want a V8 corolla, i would use a 1UZ-FE as they are an all alloy engine and weigh about half what any of the boat achor yank tank V8s do. At least it would still be able to turn a corner without using the guard rail for assistance.
  7. You're going to have to learn this lesson when asking almost ANY shop attendant for parts. ..... DUMB DOWN YOUR REQUEST...... When you are asking for a part such as in the situation above, just tell them its for an AE82. It just saves a lot of headaches :y: Its like when i needed to get an output shaft seal for my W58 gearbox that was fitted to my RA28 celica. I just walked into toyota, and ask for a gearbox output shaft seal for an GA70 twin-turbo (cos thats the car it came from).
  8. the MOST BUDGET turbo 4age ive ever seen is the one i built, in an AE71. $600 - turbo, manifold and dump pipe $500 - greddy emanage $300 - 4AGZE ECU, injectors map sensor and other sensors $50 - bodget intercooler $300 - intercooler piping and exhaust hookup (connected to the existing 2" exhaust) $80 - air filter $400 - tuning == TOTAL $2230 ... and that was in a RWD, so it was a lot easier than FWD, and i did a LOT of work myself.
  9. i wouldnt waste my money, other than on a flywheel. Make the car handle better would be a better choice IMO.
  10. i prefer the W58 personally - they have really nice ratios and the 5th gear is an actual 5th gear (for highway cruising).
  11. the RWD 4age has the thermostat located in the rear half of the waterpump... whereas the FWD versions don't, they have the thermostat mounted in a remote thermostat housing which sits on top of the gearbox. Yuo NEEEEEED a thermostat. You could of course try and hunt down the unobtainium RWD water pump, housings and top radiator outlet.... but youd have better luck finding a complete forumla atlantic 4ag in your local wreckers. i should probably dig up those pics and rehost them one day too :)
  12. hmmmm... i am intrigued. I have a W55, but would prefer a W58. Of course i would also prefer the mid-position selector housing like i currently have fitted to the W55. Also, i am in sydney, so don't know if i can help you much :)
  13. yep definitely a difference between early model T50 and later model T50 boxes. I've fitted up T18 driveline in an AE71 (T18 gearbox, tailshaft and diff - originally from a 3T), and of course had to get the 4A-T50 bellhousing from the late model T50 box. There are definitely some differences, and the gaskets would most likely not match. Just clean all surfaces THOROUGHLY with degreaser first, and then turps - to make sure there is NO oil left. Then use gasket silicon stuff, but pick one that is recommended for gearboxs/gear oil, otherwise it wont last as long (gear oil is nsaty nasty stuff!). Hope that helps.
  14. you have too many cars Greg. You need to donate some this way :) I'll start with that MX13 :)
  15. its just a corolla... CUT AWAY :y: looks much better with flares.
  16. hi, i just got my Ls and a 1983 rolla LOL, its siC. LOL how cane i mayk it g0 hard3r nthat ndo siC sk1dz nshit? ? lol :y:
  17. There are a few different Hilux diffs around. RN2* = 1370mm width. RN4* = 1410mm >RN4* = wider again. ALL HILUX DIFFS ARE G-series.... except for newer model hiluxs, which use the even bigger A series diff. IIRC, the stock KE70/AE71 diff width is around 1400mm, so the early model RN2* hilux diff is too narrow. Furthermore, the RN2* diff is also extremely rare, and very sought after by RA2* celica owners. Also, fitting torsen LSD centre (such as tru-trac, etc) doesnt work well with the early model RN2* diffs, as you need to do a lot of modifying to make the torsen LSD centre fit. RN41 or similar RWD hilux diff is the one to go for, if you REALLY want a hilux diff. You should be able to fit a torsen LSD centre without any dramas, and the width is very close to the facory AE71/KE70 width. Personally - with just a CA18, i would recommend an F-series diff, from a Crown or Cressida. These are still quite strong, but a LOT lighter than a hilux diff (READ: unsprung weight is bad kiddies!)..... also, IS200 type-2 torsen LSD diffs bolt into F-series diffs apparently, so its easy to upgrade an F-series to LSD with a nice ratio (3.9 or 4.1). Getting a decent G-series egar ratio is harder, as most hiluxs run 4.3:1 ratios, which for a corolla is mentally short IMO. I hope that helps.
  18. yeah the 1JZ panel van is street driven, and ACT registered. He's a toymodder... and that car is VERY fast (its a well modified 1JZ) If any of you guys are thinking of coming to Dubbo for the Toyota Nationals next year, i seriously recommend that you stay at the Matilda Motor Inn. Basically the whole motel is taken up by Toynats entrants, so the place turns into a massive toyota social gathering for the whole weekend (friday thru to monday morning). I missed the nats this year, for the first time in a long time. I'll be back again next year for sure - its probably one of the biggest toyota social events of the year.
  19. the GZE is a damn good engine - don't discount it!
  20. lol... i knew i would stir up some deep seeded celica envy on these forums. IMO - RA28s crap on corollas. But thats my opinion, and is what i expressed with a little tongue in cheek in the quote from the original post in this thread. I've also driven a KE20 (3T-GTE) for about 3 months, which was in equally unpresentable condition to my RA28.... and i have to admit that i hardly got a second look, except when i accidentally released a skid. The RA28 on the other hand, despite its lack of good presentation, would REGULARLY get notes left on it saying "i want to buy your celica, pls call me...", and people offering to buy it. You'd also get the regular idiot who would comment "nice mustang" or "mad camaro dude"..... Greg - your 28 is awesome, however its partly the colour of it that lacks the attention drawing ability that some RA28s have. That is a good thing in my opinon, as you arent going to attract the WRONG attention with it. I know which one i would prefer out of your KE20 and RA28. RA28GT - no offense taken, but you did pic the worst picture of my celica to "demonstrate" your point. Also, you do sport the username "RA28GT", so you are really contradicting your own username with your opinion. :y:
  21. nah i already bought one. but thanks :y:
  22. lack of water temp sensor and/or air temp sensor wouldnt cause those kinds of fuel consumption numbers. You have a fuel leak.... its that simple. Check the ENTIRE fuel system.... its coming out somewhere!
  23. the string method is best.... but obscene's numbers sound about right.
  24. thats cos yamaha makes the "G" heads for Toyota. i was merely pointing out a matter of semantics regarding shim under bucket valve train. P.S. My celica is sold. Someone now find me a decent KE70 :)
  25. actaullly... the 18RG has shim UNDER bucket...... so there :P
