  1. yea but guys, the engine builder who shaved and cleaned up my head has already shaved the head down to 10.7:1 comp ratio, that was with me telling them most of those details! And they are a reputable engine shop called L W Parry, i do trust that they have done the head work correctly! He said he had information of all the piston cc etc.
  2. Ok my bad, i just re measured using verniers and the bore is 81mm, I guess that 0.5mm is not a big issue? The Genuine gasket is coming on Friday, it should be all good
  3. Hm ok ill get a 5K, even though my bore is larger We will see how it goes, I'm not too confident
  4. So what do you guys suggest for me to do? Go with the Genuine gasket? Or go with a custom one to suit a 82mm bore
  5. my 5k has a 4k cam in it also
  6. probably best to look on ae86drivingclub.com
  7. Nope but the brand is Bovic Automotive, why do you ask?
  8. I am using what I believe to be a flat top piston head, it doesnt have the protrusions, and the engine reconditioners i took it to, shaved it to suit a 10.7:1 comp ratio using the 4age pistons. I will have to go with a custom head gasket won't I?
  9. I am using a 5K one now, atm the pushrods and rocker gear arent bolted on and i still feel that hit. So i don't see how i can bend a valve? How do I know if my valve-piston clearance is correct and the cam is in the right spot? I havent touched the cam since I bought it off the guy who bought it off KE25 Racer, I havent even taken off the timing cover Ok i did some quick measurements, the bore is 82mm and the bore on the gasket is roughly 80, in areas a bit less
  10. I havent bolted the valve train back on, I have just bolted the head on without valve train and spark plugs, I am pretty sure the gasket is smaller than the bore. So do I go custom gasket for the 4AGE pistons or stick with a genuine toyota 5K one?
  11. Nothing else could be possibly jamming as when the head isnt bolted down it turns fine, only when it is torqued do i feel that resistance. I guess toyota 5K gasket is the next step
  12. Ok so I torqued the head back on without rocker gear and spark plugs, when I turn the engine backwards it didnt hit, but as i moved it forward i would feel a kind of hit as it reached TDC, i turned it a bit harder and was able to over come this spot. I'm pretty sure the gasket bores are too small, would the engine wear this down after a run in? or do i have to go with a custom headgasket?
  13. why is it not working?
  14. Ok at TDC the area that has the carbon build up on top of the piston as seen in the pics, protrudes about half a mm or less higher, most of the piston is flush though. I'm pretty sure its a 5k gasket however the firing rings are not perfect circles, would a genuine item be better in this area?
  15. The engine is out of the car and on the floor, I loosened the head bolts and it turned, so I took the head off to take a better look at it I put the gasket on dry but it seems to have come apart in a couple spots, would it be a good idea to get a new genuine gasket while i am at it? I think I will put the head back on without spark plugs and see if it turns then. Nothing seems wrong with the head Ok I now think my dizzy is kind of right, yes i have turned it clockwise a bit to line it up better This pic is of the headgasket and where it has split, I think it will be genuine toyota this time What you guys think?
  16. yea i really wasnt thinking, its really pissing me off lol plus i have a stupid uni exam tomorrow, ok well ill guess ill start by taking off the rocker gear and trying it again
  17. If I put on the head gasket dry am i able to reuse it when i take off the head? Maybe its the pistons hitting the gasket? as its got the slightly larger pistons?
  18. well i havent touched the camshaft since i got the engine so it should be fine, and i don't think the pistons would be touching as i have a flat top head with not that much compression, yes it did spin freely before the head was put on, should i take out the spark plugs? or should i just take off the head again, i don't see why it wouldnt be spinning...hmmm
  19. ok so when installing my dizzy, am i allowed to stick a screwdriver down the hole in the block to turn the slot that the dizzy fits into, so that the dizzy can fit? also what would be stopping the engine from rotating? e.g i attach a socket to the front pulley bolt and try turn it and it doesnt move? shouldnt it spin freely? i have installed the longer pushrods and it all seems sweet, nice and tight.
  20. lmao sounds like you were talking a little bit of shit in your first post  wouldnt a 4agze be the best option for more torque? rather than a high revving engine?
  21. 13 bucks each, wow where did you get those from? do they supply them off the shelf?
  22. lmao that was almost 6 months ago
  23. ohh yes i have read that before! totally didnt take notice, your a legend, yea it seems like they are the ones i need, so i ring up toyota and are like yep! we will have them in on monday, grr they might as well hire monkeys
  24. why do you need an upgrade?
  25. yea seems like i need longer hydro pushrods, toyota are such a pain though, no help at all, i think i might head over there and see whats in those manuals, would anyone have any ideas of what car models to tell them as they are no help otherwise ok so i went to toyota, on their databases all their 5ks seem to have solid lifters except for the new spacia, which seems to have hydraulic rocker gear, i have the part number but the thing is that it only had one part number, and it was the only hydro 5k we could find. would the dished piston 5k hydraulic pushrod be the one i need, as they have a taller head?
