  1. He lives in greece, I don't think there are many bogans wrecking corollas around there lmao
  2. Ok now that it is set at TDC and I have made a mark on the pulley, do I take out the dizzy and put it in according to the diagram in the corolla manual? In the manual it seems as if the dizzy cap clips line up with the front corner of the engine and the rotor button kind of lines up with the 1st spark plug, does this make sense? Or is there a different way to get the dizzy right? Here is a pic of the dizzy at TDC atm. philbey, I am sure that the notch isn't there, although there did seem to be a tiny hole on the outside edge where my liquid paper mark was made, but nothing like a notch that I have seen on other pulleys.
  3. Ok so do I now make a mark on the pulley at zero?
  4. Ok here are some pics of my pulley, there are no visible notches on it on either side, which is really strange. If my valve train shows TDC, do I then mark it on the pulley? Also what is this on the rock mean, does it mean that both 4th valves are closed?
  5. I just spoke to the guys who fixed my carby the last time, and they said if the car doesnt start when you pour petrol down the carby then its not the carbs problem. Its either ignition timing or valve timing. And seeing as my ignition timing is right, i guess its the valve timing?
  6. I am not sure how to set advance, I do that by turning the dizzy? The pulley does not have any notch in it. I set it to TDC by looking at the valve movement, and then have the rotor button pointing towards the first piston and then turning the dizzy till it lines up with the 1st lead.
  7. Ok timing is all sweet now, the engine sounds as if it is about to start but doesn't I think the carb might need to be modified to suit the 5k? It ran well on the 4K. Would Start you bastard work better than pouring petrol down it?
  8. Hm I really can't seem to figure it out, how do I know if piston 1 is on its compression stroke?
  9. Ok so its all pretty much together now, when I go to start it, it backfires out of the carb and I can't seem to work out the problem, in what order do the leads go? is it 1,2,3,4 in a clockwise direction? It gets fuel but after a while it spurts out of the top of the carb from a small hole, i guess this is because my timing is wrong and it is not burning the excess fuel?
  10. Ok should I grease inside the shifter ball? Or does oil go into this from the GB?
  11. Maybe I will give it a squeeze with some pliers just to be safe
  12. Whats the number between the spark plug holes
  13. Ok the sump plug issue is sorted, it turns out i have a Spacia sump with a 12mm sump plug, I picked up the clevis for the clutch cable but I'm not sure how the split pin holds it to the cable? Anyone with a KE70 done this before?
  14. pushrods are my favourite
  15. What size sump plugs do you guys with 5K's run?
  16. I went to a fastener shop and bought some bolts that fit into the holes, so that should be ok for now, the sump plug pretty much has no thread on it at all, so I will be heading to Toyota on Monday to buy a new one and test if the sump itself is threaded too, Is anyone else's 5K using a 14mm sump plug?
  17. I have a new problem now, the sump plug is threaded, I will have to get a new one, I think it threaded because I did not use the washer, hopefully the sump is not threaded too.
  18. Hahahaha yea I like thinking about shit before I do it, In the past I have done things the cheap nasty way but now that I am a bit older I can see the value in research and how it can also help others. I don't mind if one of the mods changes the title to that, or even swaps it into the build section. Also I get trade price at Toyota, so if anyone in the Sydney area would like some cheaper parts let me know. The best part about this engine is that I haven't even come close to fitting the Mikuni quad throttle body setup! That will be interesting. But I have decided to keep with the Holley for the moment and see the potential I can get from it.
  19. Yep I just realised that, the problem was that the KE55 cable does not use a removable end so I have now ordered in one of those as well!
  20. Oh fair enough! I ordered a shifter gasket, the lil cup bush and a boot (the first boot that covers the shifter ball bit). Cost me 28 bucks, which is ok. Another problem, I ordered a KE70 Clutch Cable as I was previously using a KE55 aftermarket item, It came in today but it didn't come with the part that attaches to the gearbox fork? Although it does seem a million times better than the KE55 one I was using.
  21. tracker? as in you want it for circuit racing? or drift? because they both use different setups
  22. Thats a bit of a vague post man, what do you want the car to do will determine your setup
  23. Are there any other replaceable parts that I can buy for the shifter? The first boot is broken, Does the black top half of the shifter unscrew from the lower half so the boots can be removed?
  24. Awsome, I bought some Toyota 20w50 to try out, also I was cleaning up my shifter and was wondering if its possible to replace the plastic cup on the end of the shifter? Does this just pop off?
  25. id be worried about how tuff your rolla is with the rust in the boot :y:
