  1. I think its a waste of life
  2. Yea this would be helpful, because I am pretty sure this K50 is not going to last long! Is NZ the best place to get them from?
  3. Sweet as, thanks should I go with a 15w50 oil, I am pretty sure the bottom end has only been run a few times, any recommendations?
  4. What about the green plug on the gb?
  5. Hey guys I have got my engine and gearbox in the car atm, but am confused about the K50 wiring, it seems the K40 plug on my 70 loom is different to the K50 white plug, also I am confused as too which wires go to which sensors on the engine. I have some pics to help explain. These are the 3 plugs that go to the box The plugs on the K50 The plugs and a random wire on the other end These are the sensors I have on the engine Also which side do the wires run?
  6. lmao @ grind
  7. Edit: It was in FAQ
  8. Anything can be done, depends what you want to race in
  9. This car isn't going to help you get out of trouble, these corollas are like the biggest P Plater choice along with the SSS and are usually decked out with big systems and habibs so the police tend to always pull them over, and being an older car they always have something thats defectable. Make a change to you driving habits, because any car can speed!
  10. This is pretty much what you want it too look like, its my brothers car and his payed alot of attention to detail.
  11. Would that be off an early model 55? Ah don't worry about it, I tried Toyota but apparently they would have to ask Toyota Japan, I can still use the one I have atm and its not asif its broken and I am desperate. I was just thinking of making it look a bit neater!
  12. I think there might be tailshaft issues with an AE71 diff?
  13. I do agree with all of the above, however I think we have a stronger backing in the older KE series of corollas, as these are more in our price range and more plentiful around Australia.
  14. There is less resistance when the spark plugs are out, things are looking good! Anyone have any idea about the thermostat questions? They are on the previous page
  15. Haha yea i've realised the massive difference now, I've now bolted the valvetrain back on, as I turn the engine it is slightly difficult and I can feel the compression and hear an air hissing noise, if I wait for a while after this hissing, it is easier to turn, this is the compression isn't it? and not piston hitting valve? Ok! Now onto my next thought, the thermostat! As you can see here there is a plug with two branches that I am pretty sure go to the stock carby. As I am using a Holley 180 downdraught carb I don't think I need these two vaccum(?) lines. Is it ok to leave these unplugged or should I buy a new thermostat from an earlier model corolla that does not have this plug hole, I think the early model KE55 had this type of thermostat
  16. Ok so I put the gasket on the block and everything seems sweet, the gasket bores line up very nicely with the block bores and is nothing like the other bodgy cheap gasket. I am going to go ahead and torque up the head.
  17. Ok, it looks like my doubts have been changed, I picked up the genuine gasket today, and there is such a big difference in quality, the bores are actually circular, and larger than the Bovic brand gasket, the metal pressed ring design is better and there are also metal pressed rings around the head bolt holes. I am pretty sure that the piston will now fit the hole nicely. I will test it without a head first this time.
  18. I think it should be fine, go ask your tyre shop, they should be able to help you out, but why are you going for the 4wd look?
  19. Ok but the thing is the piston doesnt seem to be protruding that 0.3mm the whole way round, only on the front right corner (from drivers perspective) for piston 1 and the rear right for piston 4 This is strange, would my block be decked wrongly?
  20. Ok so I measured the protrusion of the pistons to be 0.30mm, what should I do now? wait for the head gasket tomorrow?
  21. go with a 5k conversion, should change it much
  22. yea i don't think its recommended, but i think taz does it
  23. Yes they do protrude, I don't think the trick without the headgasket would work. What to do now? Wait for the gasket? Or does the protrusion problem need to be fixed?
  24. As mentioned before the front left corner of the piston, where it looks slightly darker seems to come out the tiniest bit
  25. i use a 4ac clutch fan on mine, i think it would be smart to use a thermostat and also use coolant
