I am actually highly considering this as the problem now because it does only happen when the driveline is under load, it wont happen under light load for example light acceleration but under hard acceleration it will squeal/scream and it will only make the noise at high rpm so it has got me thinking about the drive shaft.. ill check it out later today I don't think its the diff as it sounds like its directly next to me and no it doesnt happen on overrun it only happens during moderate to hard acceleration and at highish rpm.. all i can say though is the noise is loud as anything, if i overtake a tram or car you can hear squealing/screaming noise echoing loudly off it..

I just don't know what it could be otherwise, it made a similar noise before i put the new box in and when i put this new box in i used brand new ARP flywheel bolts, thrust bearing, clutch and got the flywheel machined in an attempt to eliminate the problem.. I didnt get the spigot replaced even though i supplied him with one because he said the one in there was in really good condition anyway because my motor was only rebuilt about 10,000-15,000km ago.. I can't replicate the noise when the car is not in gear and free revving, it will only make the noise when the car is in gear and under moderate to hard acceleration or high RPM and when it makes the noise it sounds like its coming from next to me (the gearbox).. The noise is a really really loud screaming/screeching noise and only occurs under the conditions as i mentioned before and its driving me absolutely crazy.. Aggggghhhhh!!!

WGMG: gearbox bearings shit itself so i bought one second hand and asked the seller numerous time if it had any bearing whine and he said no except for that 4th is a bit iffy, i said that i could live with 4th being shit as long as it doesnt whine and he said it was all good.. bought the box about a month ago havnt had a chance to put it in until today, got a local workshop to do it as i don't have access to a hoist so it cost me $350 to do the changeover because i supplied everything and used castrol multitrax which is a decent gearbox oil.. after the changeover gets done i drive it and 20 seconds later the same bearing whine seriously, WTF i don't have money to just throw at shit that doesnt work especially when someone lies to your face, grrrrr its so frustrating.. i hate my car nothing ever seems to turn out as planned..

Mine was the white corolla with a 4age in it running twin carbs, had a hand ring on the back too..

I havnt updated for a while but the car is on the road again (temp panels).. Insurance is still getting sorted so car really hasnt changed.. I had mixed feeling after the accident happened, but once i chucked the panels on and took it for a spin, i once again fell in love.. I'm not giving up with it but if anything ill say one thing.... Do it again only better... Alot better ;) .. I will do a big update with pictures very very soon so stay tuned :P

Get some re001's in 14" before they discontinue them... I have a pair on the front and they are grippy as, i love them.. They are also pretty affordable too, i got mine for $120 each fitted and balanced :)

Not saying the ssr's look bad on it they just look odd, somewhat out of place in that colour? Thats my opinion but maybe if they were black with chrome lip it might suit it a bit better.. On the other hand the xr6 wheels would look classier/nicer also running spacers is a con for the xr6 wheels..

Welcome to rollaclub :) ... It sounds good for $250 mate, and yea post some pics up when you can... Just letting you know that if your dash lights have gone out then more than likely your tail lights are out too because they run on the same fuse. I had the same problem until people started flashing me at night then i looked at my tail lights and they were both out and only turned on when i started braking.. The fuse should be located where the drivers side kick panel is so check it out and see if you can find any dud fuses... Hope that helps mate

I have to agree with TE278U get into motorkhanas and autocross.. its pretty much like drifting but on dirt (rally = fun!!) and all you need to do is your general services (oil changes, air filters, fix a few mechanical things, etc), lock your diff, get a few extra panels because its about 99% certain you will stack it and you are set to have some great fun for cheap.. As you go along, get experience and money then mod it accordingly

I know its only cosmetic which is a good thing but it will be a repairable write off which means i will only get market value which means no matter what happens I'm losing money.. I guess thats life though but i will be keeping this thing alive :)

well apparntly if the accident is found to be her fault which is quite likely it will be given the evidence, then her insurance will write it off and pay me the market value but I'm deffs buying it back in hope to keep this thing living.. So guttered to say the least at the moment.. I was travelling down Malvern Rd last night and a parked car pulled out and crossed all lanes then proceeded to cut me off in the wet as they tried to turn right, I slammed my brakes on as soon as I saw her try to come into my lane but I knew instantly it was over :( .. the driver of the car I hit made false claims that I was speeding and that my car was un-roadworthy because it had no ABS (WOMAN MY CAR WAS PRE ABS) .. I have a witness which confirmed that the driver of the other car was parked then crossed all lanes hence cutting me off (the witness stated I only had 5-10m at most to react). The damage to my car is front passenger side/ guard and the damage of the other car is the far drivers side rear/bumper which also indicates the car was coming across on a 45 degree angle which clearly shows she came across all lanes cutting me off. I went to the police station and just presented my case to them with my witnesses statement and the officer straight away confirmed that the accident was the other persons fault and not mine and judging by the damage it was also confirmed that I was not speeding. Here comes the heart breaking news, I went and got quotes today for the damage and apparently it will be written off so at the moment I'm pretty shattered and extremely upset :'( .. The thing that pissed me off the most was the stupid persons complete disregard to safety of other drivers, especially in the wet. She then claimed that because her car was not wet that the roads were not wet SERIOUSLY ARE YOU THAT DUMB! Melbourne has been raining for 3 days straight.. Sooooo upset, stressed and angry. Doctor tells me I should stress less as apparently I'm burning a hole in my stomach, so much so that its causing it to bleed and I'm on a high dosage of special medication to help me (my stomach produces massive amounts of acid especially when I'm stressed) but nothing can help the amount of stress on going through at the moment :( This car was a huge part of my life and i loved it, i put so much time, money and effort into it and for some f@$king idiot to take it all away in a matter of seconds hurts so much :'( :'( :'( Quick paint version of how it happened: Pics of my car: To the idiot who said that because her car isnt wet the road must not be :bash:

Good job haha, 4AGE on carbs is the best sound in the world.. The induction noise is incredible and if you can get the induction louder than the exhaust its even better :P

Just a suggestion you could always carb the 4AGE? You will have a great market for parts because its a 4AGE and can still have the awesomeness of carbs (A.K.A. Said wank factor) :)
