  2. They sound horrible,i had one on mine for a while it must have something to do with the way the rotors in the supercharger chops up the air.

Actually speaking of engine mounts if you flip the passengers side engine mount upside down and cut off the shaped bit so that the side that goes to the block is now flat drill two holes in it,it actually is correct for the drivers side mount in upright situation then you only have to make a new left hand side mount.Mr Revhead i`m going to the Ashburton street race on the saturday and then possibly i`ll be at the rally on sunday depending on how the street race pans out,if i make it to the rally i`ll definately come say gidday :D

  8. The K-T bellhousing does not change gearbox rotation unless is a trd upright bellhousing

When you go to upright you were supposed to buy the upright bellhousing for the t series box and use that but you can use a t series box or k series box on the lean.K series boxs don't last long.As for using a wedge in between the manifold face and manifolds no you use a flat alloy adapter plate which has countersunk allen head bolts and then you change the stud pattern and have your inlets seperated from exhaust and the extra room allows for heaps easier removal/access to carbs starter,better exhaust etc ive built 4 now and will be doing a few more.
  10. Just make your own,4k-e manifolds are a pretty horrible shape and the injectors run out of duty cycle really early anyway,throttle bodies too small blah blah blah :kiwi: :D

  14. Its for a 4mm overbore hence the ke004, about 65 thou thick not much good on a std engine

  16. Yep i`ve got one,3k block+ 4k crank bored out 4mm=1430cc 3k.

Trd pistons would bore 3mm over and 4mm over,i`ve heard of people getting away with boring out a 4k to accept 5k pistons so yes it is possible.Trd used to recommend pressure testing the block once overbored,ive had a 3k go porus at 3mm over but ive also got a 3k bored out to 4mm over and it has heaps of thickness left.

I am using a ke74 box that was a big bearing 4 speed 22 spline output that i converted using a te71 5 speed internals to swap output shaft to 20 spline so i didnt have to change the driveshaft,a double diaphragm 180mm pressure plate and trd clutch plate (ee80 will fit),diff 6" ke70 diff at the moment,i don't use the car its only done 1000ks in 6 years.

If you wanted to upright a k series engine using a t series box then to do it properly you need a trd upright bellhousing,but you can run them uprighted without it(gearbox on a lean).From what i`ve seen there isnt that many k series bellhousings around over here some places want $250 for them,the two ive got are 22 spline output shaft boxs and have a hydraulic clutch,one i`ve converted to cable,but ive also got a rare cable operated bellhousing.Easiest way to tell a k from a t series box is as someone said the bellhousings are removable or they`re commonly called split case because they split in half down the centre of the main part of the gearbox,they come in two shifter locations early ta celicas had the forward shifter postion that would suit ke20/30 in fact if you look in the floorpan of a ke 20/30 rearward of the std floorpan mounting bolt holes you`ll see a hole for t series box,and theres the further back shifter postion to suit ke70.T50s also come out in 20 spline and 22 spline output shafts 20 spline fits k series rollas.

  21. So Allan Dunne built Warren Burts Shell Sport starlet aye interesting i`ll ask burtie some questions when i see him next he`s currently building a starlet for classic rallying and is trying to get it finished for the otago rally.
  22. No they arent 40-47ft/lbs for k series headbolts,rod bolts 30-37 ft/lbs

I went to my local toyota dealer today and we looked up 5k rods they crossreferenced to 4k and 1g rods,1ggte and 1ggze rods have different part numbers each.I also measured up a 1g piston and yep there compression height is 32.5mm 3.5mm less than a std k series piston i think i possibly had the 1g piston in with a 4k crank in a 3k when i was playing about with pistons a while back i was also doing a mock up using a honda piston at the same time(honda piston would work)dunno anyway getting :D :D
  24. You will find that late 4ks have the strong rods,not all 5ks have the big rod i believe there was a production change by toyota,if you go order a new 4k rod you will get one of the stronger rods.Interesting about the 1ggze pistons that brings up some interesting engine build options.
