  1. I put 2000$ into my 5k.... rebuilt, big cam, valve train, head work, twin side drafts, extractors.... still haven't driven it. took it down the drive way and she bags up real sleazy with a 3k carby.... i think 160mm of solex throat will put down more than the 45mm of a aisn 3k squirter....
  2. well there goes the solex's.... >| thanks bro.... :( anyone got and easy 1900$?
  3. Oh so hot! Want to touch the highny!!!
  4. unfortunately 4k lifters do not fit into a 5k block......
  5. I just picked a ke25 grill from ebay. It's goiing on the 20. The top three mounting points are sweet. The lower center is to the left instead of the right and the lower outers are further out than the 20 grills. I currently have 3 grills with the pointi centre and one ke25.
  6. :y: I say YES!!! :y:
  7. Mr brother and dad decided to go ahead and figure out an arrangement for the solxe's. And f@$k me it worked the treat. I got pictures but my phone is dead so they'll have to wait for tomorrow. Shorted the tongued linkage 7.5mm on both sides. Retapped the folded side to allow the original pin screw to fix the tongue. Solid. Proccededto weld, file and fit an original k motor cable linkage to the carb closest to the firewall. The whole lot rotates to the full extent of the law. Top work!
  8. Almost done with the interior. Old mate f@$ked up with the pattern on the drivers seat so that will come back out. JJust have to finish the carpet around the door openings and get the scuff plates down. From there its just the kick plates, door cards and front windscreens. Shit myself at $230 for the front recoilable seatbelts but they bolted straight in. Looks wicked.
  9. If I did choose to go and hack up the manifold it would only be to allow the linkage to pass between the runners. I'm not interested in causing problems for myself. The the redline linkage kit would probably be the best starting point for a modified set up, though i'm looking at all avenues to minimize work. Rotating the whole central linkage setup 180 degrees is something I never considered. It should work because the carbys do appear to be symmetrical. Still doesn't fix the spacing issue or the throttle rotation problem.
  10. $400 on a 3k wouldn't even reco the head. If that's all you've got throw a cam at it and exaust.... if your lucky. The difference between 3k and 5k is the stroke and the bore.... think of it as a 253 as to a 308/3.3333r A big difference but not Fast and the Furious type shit. Don't think about doing everything at once. Buy a 5k and take the time to build it.... Time is on your side.
  11. Yeah coil packs...... a f@$king waste of money.... you'll get a corolla for that! The pack in my Astra set me back $650. I want to burn the world and then i'll ride naked ladies to town and back.
  12. Is that in the Numinbah Valley? Looks like awefully familiar scenery...
  13. Unfortunately its making the mould that costs the most. Could cost you thousands to have it copied....
  14. Best thing to do would be get it tuned... a good tuner will do a diagnostic test and dyno it. You'll get answers.
  15. It could be some type of limiter... What year, make and model of car is it and any other information on the engine.
  16. I've got a set of vear new rear brake cylinders from '72 ke20. Still brassy. That means they can't be that old and i'm pretty sure they'll fit. There yours $10 + postage. Many fiddly parts for these older corollas are generic. The front coil seat belts I purchased new from Beenleigh Bearings recently, fitted Corollas 1967-74.... Beenleigh Bearings is like old man knowledge. 10 stars! Also, some Autobarns have a Rare Spares connection and are able to pull things like this.
  17. That fastest way to fix it is to stop letting clowns pillage your snickers factory. Period. If that doesn't work get the clown back or try buying a toyota.
  18. I have been thinking about halving the manifold. A $300 manifold. Modifying the tongued linkage to get them closer, then running a k series carburettor linkage off the carby closest to the firewall... not sure yet.
  19. The tongued linkage The ball and socket cable attacchment To wide for the manifold
  20. I plan on running a set of R series 40mm Mikuni Solex sidedrafts, from an 18RG, on the 5k. I just had them rejetted and a few missing parts replaced. Using redline manifold, soft mounts and studs. The studs are about 10mm short which seems unusual considering.... There is a designated left and right hand carby with a common tongue type linkage and a ball and socket throttle cable connection between them. Originally being mounted on the left side of the 18RG, the same way a T series engine with T series Solex's is set up the throttle rotation is reversed when mounted on the right. The first issue is the tongued linkage prevents the carbys coming close enough together to fit on the K series manifold, so it must be modified to close the gap. There is a 10-15mm width issue. The second issue is the reversed throttle rotation. The linkage needs to be pulled clockwise from the left to open the butterflies. Has anyone ran this setup, seen how it is done or has the know how? Just after some pointers.
  21. I want 1 for my Astra. It's gotta say "MY OTHER CAR IS COROLLA".
  22. Did the suspension guys do a wheel alignment after lowering the beast? Usually going down low throws the caster out and the camber. This will affect the angle that the tie rod end sits in lower control arm. Can cause all the grease to be pushed out of the tie rod boots. Getting an alignment may be the go and grease up all your front end joints and bushings.
  23. Got the rear windscreen in today. WICKED!
  24. I sussed it out. It's not an oil pressure issue. And it has nothing to do with the pcv valve i'm missing. I think the valve clearances were to tight and the timing is way out.... uncool but somthing I can rectumfy until I get the carbys on.
