  1. In my moderately worked 5k, i'm using Penrite 20w60...
  2. You should change the thread title to "Build Thread of a Clean and Sparkly 5k".
  3. 20w50 is what you want....
  4. Get a full acl rebuild kit and a new timing kit. Would probably set you back between 500-700$. That's pistons, rings, all bearings and gaskets, rear main seal, timing gears and chain. It's probably worth doing the spigot bearing in the back of the crank while the engines out. That's about 10$. As for the mods it comes down to how much you have to spend. If you can afford the rebuild, just do a mild cam, ports and manifold match, electonic ignition, extractors and a webber. You'll spend an easy $1500 just doing that.
  5. regraph. The change of weights and springs inside, so the advance of the distributor matches that of the cam/engine. A large cam will change the timed function of the valves and there for change the required ignition time. Regraphing/recurving counters this.
  6. New bearings.. no matter how good they look. New pistons and rings... look for verticle wear marks on the piston skirts. Rattle! Twin timing kit, ports as big as my mouth and cam the size of my balls! :lolcry: or WD40 it and put it back together. That would be dirty.... ...looks lean on 2 and 4. Or is that from the HG.
  7. Big cam = recurve...
  8. Do you have a build thread? I'll have to check it out. Hit me up sometime & we'll meet up.
  9. I once got defected for being too cool to have tread.... or was it that I was so cool my tyres spun like driving on ice. I can't remember anymore. We must realise that just because the fuzz don't ping our hole everytime you cross paths, doesn't mean your demeanour doesn't go down in the books/files/dossier. Perhaps they save all those little things up so that one day if they get you doing something worth pinging, they can ping your hole so good you won't touch straight blue for a long time. BAM!
  10. You could also click on this link "4k twin cam" and view a short vid posted on another thread.

    Help

Interesting point. But would that cause issues with the exaust note also? Like epic back firing

    Help

Perhaps a cracked distributor cap... but it definately sounds like an ignition issue most likely dizzy related.
  13. Just get your get shaved down to its lowest. After a blown head gasket you'll want to anyway. There are indicators along the underside of the head. Just do it like normal and see how it goes. Many people claim it will go fine... and you can always get another head if it doesn't. Without doing flat top pistons you'll probably not see 11:1 unless you boost it.
  14. My 20 hangs low on the right hand rear and that's after I put ke55 springs in it. Maybe if I got two left springs..... :hmm:
  15. Hi father knowledge, For starters that's quite an excessive CR so you'll need things like spec head gasket and piston rings, head studs. I could be wrong. Also note that the 104 cam by Tighe usually requires a regraphed distributor so if you want to change dizzy you may need to look at that. There is a part you can get through 'Hot Spark' to convert a breaker dizzy to a electronic and with a already graphed dizzy would work out to be a far cheaper option. Hot Spark
  16. engine mounts? perhaps under load at such a low rpm, the engine is just surging... you should only really be in the kind of rpm range in first gear at take off.
  17. yeah my bad. the negative side of the coil needs to be grounded. the positive should run from the power/ignition and the ballast resistor there also.
  18. Looks like a coil and the wire from the ballast resistor. It shoulld be hooked up to the negative side of the coil. It could be that you have your wires mixed up.
  19. THe only hard part is the lume. What to use and what not to use....
  20. Nice ride man.... nice ride...
  21. It is standard manifold but its had an adapter plate welded onto it. Yes I would say it is most likely to suit a webber.
  22. extremely innovative. After all the work is it still a 1300cc? & how do you go about relocating a bore? NB: it is a 1504cc....
  23. Check out my awesome 30 minute paint session.
