webbers took me for a drive in his ae82 twinky tonight,

 

oh my god, those things pull hard, i was suprised, this made me think that these engine s in the earlier rollas must be fast cars.

 

this then makes me think how fast my rolla s going to be, with more power and less weight, (than the big port) i'm farking stocked.

 

thats all really just had too say something.

Mmm, yes their not too shabby and they handle pretty well also

i have a small port in my ke20. it goes good but 1st gear is a bit useless, mind you i'm running a fairly weak ke55 4.33 diff.

How do you mean useless? As in no traction or no power?

just have to change gear too quickly. nicer to start in 2nd.

oh, it sucks on the freeway too with 5th gear humming at 3k+, plenty of power though. seems to get to 180 pretty quickly. i've got 2.5 all the way through and i need a much quieter muffler. Drove it to the Blue Mountains last weekend which was bearable but we had to drive my wife's daewoo (;)) to bega this week coz its so much nicer over longer distances.

In the wet 2, on the dry about 3-4.

ive got a bigport in my ke25 with a ke55 diff with 4.11s. its a very nice well rounded package.

 

on the winton long track i was hitting approx 180kmh and still had 5th gear to go, so i reckon 4.3's would be heaps better.

 

oh and don't underestimate the ke55 diff.. my last one lasted over a year of hard racing, burnouts etc... and only the welds from my dodgey welding broke

thatss good as i only going to run the 55 diff for now, it will break but at least it will hold for a while.

 

what ratio are they standard?

a 4age in an ae82/ae92/ae101 will be sitting at about 32-3300 rpm at 100kmh in stock form

Thats where mine sits, just under 3500 is 100km/h, just over is 110! All just incase my speedo stops working!

 

Paul, I will give you a drive of my Twinky if you come to the Great ocean Rd run, it will be a fair bit quicker than webbers! Just for comparison.
