If no one picks it up in 1 week the council / shire can tow it to their abandoned cars yard. The vehicle has to be advertised as a abandoned car, they have to hold them for a certain time then they sell them usually by tender or auction..

The police notify the owner of their intentions first and if the owner does not get it then it gets picked up.

They hold it for one month during which time they try to find the owner, then they advertise their intent to auction in another months time.

I buy a lot of cars from the council :lolcry:

Your council must be a bit different, Just the other day dad had a customer that got a phone call from the police and said he needs to move his car or it will be taken away so he rang dad and asked him to grab it as he did not want the car anymore, Dad went down and got the keys so he could get it and when he arrived the car was gone, This all happened within a matter of hours and a distance of only 2k's (Dads house, Keys, Car)

Lolla almost became one of those cars a few years ago. It broke down and my brother was just going to forget about it. I'm glad I took it from him and saved it

This car has been on the side of the motorway for over a week now. I want to tow it to my place.

Saw this the other day and thought it was funny.

Why is this funny?

because it says "vehicle" instead of "long vehicle" and saying just "vehicle" it IS one?

How courteous... I guess due to the large amount of abandoned backpacker cars up here they dispense with such formalities... they just stick a notice on the windscreen saying "Hey, anybody own this? Well, y'all got 24 hours, bitch" and then tow it.

Its mainly the bodgie coverup.

I think you need to get out more :lolcry:
