Hey guys just want to gather some info on a strut/brake upgrade for my '74 KE25.

I have a TA22 diff to go in the rear so that is taken care of,

I'm not really that fluent with suspension terms so please bare with me lol.

Basically I wanna convert my KE25 to 114.3 stud pattern as I have some 14" meshies to go on it.

Could anyone shed some light on this as I'm not really sure what the easiest/beneficial path to go down is.

Could I convert the KE25 struts to 114.3?

I have read that you can use TA22 struts?

Could I use RA28 struts as I have a complete RA28 rolling Shell.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Tally

you can put ke55 brakes straight on which will give you a bigger disc and caliper as well as the stud pattern you are after.

would be more than adequate for a 4k/5k setup.

i have this (+ brake booster) on my 4age ke20 and the engineer said he was really suprised at how well it stopped. works fine for street driving, but wouldn't work for track days etc.

strut swaps are good for an easy brake upgrade and usually allow a wider range of damper inserts

but it does change the font end geometry and affects the steering.

Yea I forgot to mention this, sounds pretty good to me. I read you have to machine bolt holes or sumtin so it can fit?

Ok, if done right could it be a positive thing?

how badly would it affect the geometry and steering?

what engine are you running?

a 4K or 5K

On the same note as this, Are the TE27 struts any different to KE25 struts? Or is it the same struts With bigger brakes to go with the T series engine?

Nope, never a positive thing, but from my experience the car didnt jump off the road either,

thats said you wouldnt do it to a car you want to really handle, lowering also upsets the same principles.

Personally i would use ta22 struts, the disk is about the size of the 55 ones,

but the shock is much shorter, so when you go low, you don't run out of travel.

do 20/25 corollas use PBJ145 in the lower arm?

If so, RT132 corona struts with the std twin piston calipers and AE86 power steer arms

OR RA60 struts which are single piston calipers but vented discs

RT132 struts are easily upgraded to four piston LN106 calipers and vented discs if you want more later

on the other hand, for something cheep i have in my garage KE30 struts with king springs and metal king pads in the brakes, complete with KE30 steering arms and lower control arms, could use this gear to go 4x114.3 and brakes performed fine in my 5K KE36 with 32/36 carb and extractors.
