Roo Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Tried a search and found nothing!i want to know what a rwd version of a 4age gearbox is called? is it t50? yep, you will only find a jdm 86 have the t50 behind a 4age from factory. t50 also came in the aus delivered 86 and 71 behind a 4ac Quote
fozz Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 also from a t18 i would recomend u use the t18 one as the slave is opposite the exhaust differences ae86, ae71 t50 = 20 spline t18 = 22 spline ull need a t18 front half shaft to use the t18 box Quote
Jono Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 (edited) i know at least some ae71s and ae86s have the 22 spline. Edited April 6, 2008 by Jono Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Early T-powered Celicas had the T50 too (ie TA22, TA23), but they had the 20-spline version. A lot of people get them confused and end up with the wrong box if they're not careful and do their research Quote
greenmac80 Posted April 6, 2008 Author Report Posted April 6, 2008 (edited) Ok i am getting a silver top and city dismantlers say they have a rear wheel drive box to suit! so iwas wondering what it was called and if it would actually suit cos they seem like dicks... their price for a silver top was 1890 where i got quoted 1100 from another joint but they don't have any gearboxes. so iwas gonna get the motor from joint1 and gearbox from city dismanlers. Well for a KE55 corolla tailshaft what spline do i need? cos i'm just gettin mine shortened! Edited April 6, 2008 by blackrolla80 Quote

Trev Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 fully reconditioned is 440..also anyone know who might make rwd exhaust manifolds for the silvertop? If you can get a fully reconditioned T50 for $440 then grab it, A rebuild cost on average 1400-1600 bucks. Quote

They had 4 others 4 weeks ago when I got mine. Quote
fusion Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 Only problem is hes in SA Red :). Now in my KE30 I used a TA22 gearbox and the tailshaft from a KE30 went straight on. Only problem is I needed to shorten the tailshaft by about 20mm just to make sure there was enough shaft play for travel. This was with a T18 bellhousing to a 3TC, but in relation to the spline it may help  However like Red said. Shop around. You may want to try AJPS on AE86dc for a 4AGE. They know there stuff and usually don't dick people around (although people may say otherwise :hmm: ). Cheers Fusion Quote

Cheers Fusion well toyowreck quoted me 1100 including computer and wiring loom. so i'm probably gonna pick that up this week. then mec tec at seaford quoted around 500 for them to put it in for me inc shortening tailshaft and custom engine and gearbox mounts. not sure if i'll need gear box crossmember made up but yeah! city dismantlers don have any silver tops atm Quote
Jono Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 (edited) what car is it going in? Edited April 6, 2008 by Jono Quote
fusion Posted April 6, 2008 Report Posted April 6, 2008 (edited) You will need a custom gearbox crossmember. And if its only $500 thats not bad at all, if its done all properly. Pretty reasonable I would reckon. Does that include a service and tune up? To me it sounds like its going in a KE55? If your diff breaks later on, you may need to look into an ra or ta series diff with welded leaf mounts and another tailshaft. Edited April 6, 2008 by fusion Quote
