Hey all, pretty lame post but hay...

 

just wanted to let ya no how frinkin hard the window winders are to get off of my ke38 wagon!

 

it took me like 30 solid minuetes to get 1 off!

 

i just couldnt get that little clip and it was hell tight on there,

 

i atually made up a little metal hook in the end...

does anyone no an easyer way ( if there is) to get these off.....??

Go to supercheap auto and they have a tool that costs 10bucks.

makes it easy as i use it to remove my clips!

There is a special cir clip remover. Though a a flat blade screwdriver usually works. Just have to have patience and try not to smeg the plastic surround :fuzz:

The first time you do it, it'll take heaps of time, often like half an hour.

 

The second and further times you do it, you'll struggle to do it in more than 30 seconds.

i always use a rag works very well once you get the hang of it.

^^^^ the rag works every time, easier than a tool.

 

slide it between the handle and the trim panel, and the clip pops off.

eah just slip the rag in and turn the handles. Will unclip itself.

Tiny flathead, been doing it for years, with practice you can pop it out in a split second!

I snapped mine when I took it off. :S

 

But I had a spare.

 

But yeah my mum's boyfriend is a panel beater so he helped but we still found it difficult, something in it was seized up or something...

 

It was more difficult to put it back in because it was hard to line up the two wiper things in the holes.

Putting it on is easy - Fit the spring to the winder then push it straight onto the shaft! The lugs will just pop into the groove.

 

Its designed for rapid assembly on a production line. Removal is a different matter

I find what works for me is I use Allan Keys. Cause my toolbox isn't large and every item has a designated space, I can't stick extra things in there. So the allan keys hook around to where the screw driver can't and pushes the clip off. They hey presto its done :)

it takes like 2 seconds to do what's the problem

If you use the rag Idea use an old t shirt with the seems, the clip will get caught in the seem and not fly across the garage floor or gravel driveway never to be seen again.. ;) The rag idea does not break old door cards either (Try playing with a vehicle that is 1952 and 1948 vintage... rag much better.....)
