What Should I Put In My Gemini?

Featured Replies

piazza 2.0 turbo

Bolt in pretty much, power is not much more then a 1.8L

My gemini coupe had a 1.8L, 38/38 weber, large cam, and extractors, and some headwork.

and it blew my friends piazza turbo off the line, and for the first 3 gears id be in front.

overall speed and power in higher gears yes it would beat mine :rolla:

I like the Idea of a SR20 in one though, decent power stock, factory turbo, efi ect. :hmm:

SR sounds good, cheap easy bolt on upgrades etc.

Even CA would be good enough.

But a worked Beams would be ultra nice.

Ive always loved the idea of a really worked NA 2jz

I saw one in a HPI magazine a little while ago, it was really nice, they put 6 throttle bodies off a 20v on it. And a custom plenum, big cams, high comp, made some really good power too :rolla:

Yeah, I'm leaning towards a worked BEAMS, though the cost/power is a bit off putting. I think in the end though it'd make for quite a valuable and desirable vehicle. (I got offered 5 thou when it had the G180 in it...) I'm thinking it should be quite fun to drive too with around 200+ horsepower.

I do like the idea of quad throttle bodies on a Beams... MMM!!!

On a beams you would need a minimum of blacktop throttles, most likely aftermarket and bigger.

Beams have dual vvti, you could make an engine like Beau Yates Beams, from memory, 2.2litre, turbo, combination of a 3sgte? and a Beams, I'm not too sure on sppecs but damn it goes hard!!

But money is a problem, pity a 2jz wont fit because it would mostlikely need firewall mods, how big is a 1UZFE? if it could be engineered in that would be cool too

yeah piazza turbo's had 104kw stock :rolla: :hmm:

beams or s2000 motor

I was thinking, now this isn't really practical/cheap/don't know bout legalities. BUT what would be awesome is a 1000cc Yamaha motorbike engine. No, it isn't a Toyota engine but they both come from japan right? And Yamaha has designed heads for Toyota as well. Come on, you know you want a sequential shift gearbox. Plus imagine the 'street cred'.

And the no power....

Its an engine designed to rev to infiniti but its also designed for a vehicle about what 1/10th its weight?

Where would the gearbox go, how would you do any of it, its exceedingly impractical and if you were to spend the however much amount of money you could the power would probably be less than a 4k...

My opinion anyway, and I'm sure others will agree.

I'm not heaps into motorbikes but 100hp is easily realistic isn't it? Yeah I know what your saying, it would be useless and not fast but it would sound awesome. It would put a lot of strain on the motorbike components but hey, it has been done before albeit rarely (because its not worth it I guess). I've thought about this before and the main problem in my mind would be how you get the drive to the wheels? I have seen one car that had a Hayabusa engine/gearbox with a driveshaft to the back wheels, but I'm not sure thats the best way.

can someone tell me how a piazza motor can be a twin cam 2 litre with a turbo and intercooler to only end up with 104kw?

Unleaded fuel, a lot of the turbo cars that came out in the 80s ran like crap on unleaded (Cordia, Telstar etc) and had major power drops over Super.

how about a 20b rotary.......ive seen a few gemi's with rotors in them........

it was holdens first turbo offering, but it is pretty sad

I'm sure they would go well with a rebuilt and a decent turbo setup.

I really love the idea of a sequential shift in a car... darn motorbikes get all the good stuff. The big problem with a bike engine, regardless of the power figures, is the lack of torque. The only reason a bike engine makes so much power is it's ability to rev.

The rotary idea is a beauty too, but unless I stick with NA of the 13B or less variety, legalities get in the way again.

Oh, I saw a 20B powered cosmo about a week ago, and OMG did it sound choice!

At the moment I think I'll stick with the BEAMS engine, but will still be doing a little research into the 2LTE turbo diesel... :bash:

It's not a Holden engine though, nor is it a Holden car - it's a rebadged Isuzu, who you'd think would have had plenty of experience with turbo diesels

And here are some numbers for comparison:

Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo = 101kw

Ford Telstar TX5 Turbo = 100kw (initially 87kw on the first batch of unleaded)
