tioklou Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 hello! i want to ask you if the 4age pistons fit straight in to the 5k engine they need any modifications? thanks!!! Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Pretty sure you have to bore the engine out a bit. But once bored out you can use the entire piston and rod combo. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 you also need to machine the block down to get the compression up! Quote
philbey Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Piston crown to gudgeon pin distance is smaller on the 4AGE slug, so yes, you need to deck the block quite a bit. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 (edited) we machined ours down 1-2mm i think, could be more, depends on the compression ratio you want. Â we thought it was well worth the effort, had a better range of pistons. the Big End is smaller in size but this hasn't caused any problems, we have had the engine apart a couple of times and it was the first thing we checked. It was/is all good, checked with a micrometer too. Edited November 28, 2009 by TRD ke70 Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Some Apexi Seals will be needed too :jamie: Â But as the others said, they can fit, but why not go a 4age anyway? Quote
Toy-Yoda[RL] Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Because K motors are inherently better than 4AG's? :jamie: Quote
kiahn Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 haha sounds like a perfect opportunity to put a turbo on the motor with the lowered compression :jamie: Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 But as the others said, they can fit, but why not go a 4age anyway? Â Because then your just another takumi wannabe sheep!! :jamie: 1 Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 yeah, but its a done and tried swap. cheap enough if you get parts at a good cost, and do work yaself Quote
anastasios Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 He lives in greece, I don't think there are many bogans wrecking corollas around there lmao Quote
**chumps** Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 haha sounds like a perfect opportunity to put a turbo on the motor with the lowered compression :D Â does any one know what the compression would be. would it be low enuff to run 16psi of boost ? Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 You can run 16psi with the stock CR. :D Quote
pingushred Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 do the 4age pistons fit on the 5k con rods ok? Quote
Evan G Posted December 14, 2009 Report Posted December 14, 2009 why do manuals engine combos have CR of 9:1 and autos 8.5:1?? Quote
