awesome sounding motor, good power for their era, reliability issues, heavy. why the hell you would chuck one in a ke70 i could never understand. GJM85
The head-gasket problem should only be a problem up until the first change, it was a production defect that can be fixed once and for all by the correct gasket and torquing procedure. Sounds like your old man has warped the head. That would not surpise me in the slightest. Though the cylinder walls in those things is surpisingly thin. lanceishere
haha, oh well... some things just weren't meant to be... as far as the 1g's go, would a 1G-GEU fit?
Sam_Q
1G engines are getting old now and parts have always been hard to get

Sam_Q
but unless there is some major firewall mods the weight will be more forward of the front wheels, you can't easily make up for that
Toy-Yoda[RL]
Where there is a problem, there is a hammer to fix it........ *edit for spelling fail* Edited May 11, 2010 by Toy-Yoda
lanceishere
this kind of deal in a ke70 would be more realistic? i want more power... but i want something a little different, and it has to be n/a. i've managed to hunt down a 1G-GUE and everything ($850 at brisbane motor imports if anyone's interested) but at the moment i just want to plan from every angle and make sure it will work without too much fuss... (like cutting the fire wall :blinks: ) if it comes to it, i'll put in a 4AGE running ITB's so i can at least slide it round a corner :(
GJM85
18RG twin solex' with sillycar diff, tailshaft, gearbox, front suspension and steering. That would slide with a 2nd gear clutch kick.

lanceishere
lol, i knew that... ;) but the 18rg does seem to be the most logical option so far... (aside from a 4age, but EVERYONE has a 4age) and it keeps with my plan for carbs ;) ...re-naming topic...
