Men and Relationships - what the?

I'm not in any position for a long term relationship...

I'm still yet to discover the outcome of my "current situation" before I can determine to have a girl for keeps, or have fun whilst I still can...

selected people on this forum know what I mean about this..

Otherwise... I'm yet to find somebody I'd like to have a long term relationship with... that's another thread altogether...

should be titled: Men and Long Term Relationships.... what's the deal?

i think it is funny listening to how guys who "know how to please a woman" can't keep a long term relationship...

a relationship is more than just sex

Yeah, a relationship is finding a significant other who knows how to cook, clean, garden, and rebuild a T50 in under an hour. Of course, if she can't do these, she'd better be damned good in bed. Mine can almost cook, and is pretty good at cleaning, but I'll be damned if I've ever seen her even touching a T50, let alone rebuilding it.

lol. well, i was in a 4 year and 3 month to-the-day relationship. So yeah, I know what it's like to be in one. Would I want another long term one? Possibly. Just gotta find someone that i can mentally and emotionally click with I guess. So far, I havent found that person and quite frankly, I know that there is someone out there.

Just gotta smoke 'er out :D

LOL :D

Maybe that's why I haven't been in a relationship (or anything that even remotely has to do with being in a relationship) in like... years. Then again, maybe it's got something to do with girls just not liking me, or wanting me to be the "brother they never had" or their "best friend" or some crap like that :(

Guys Rolln03 and i have been together for 3yrs and seven months... and i can tell you now...

Sex - isnt a relationship in itself - and i don't know about most girls out there but i do know that Bec and i are living on the same wavelength - most girls who are serious about you and really want you as a partner will put your needs before her own...and as for men not needing women and vice versa - men need women just as much as women need men - it would be a pretty boring world otherwise...

Next...All i can say from a gals point of view is that when a girl enters a relationship with a guy... she is looking for exactly what you just suggested Demuire: a brother figure, a father figure,a best friend and just someone she can depend on in general...why is she looking for these things - well a brother is someone she can respect and have fun with, a father is someone she knows will provide for her and take her under his wing when she needs it most, the best friend plays exactly that - someone to watch movies and eat chocolate with, to do some of those girly things with - like shopping (even if it is for car parts)...and last someone she can depend on in general i guess you could class this as the mother/sister role - she needs someone she can tell her secrets to and know that they will be safe and that she can get advice for them if she needs it...

:( I think the best relationship doesnt depend on sex as the beginning it is one where you don't know each from the start and you have to become friends before you can become lovers... that way you build trust for each other and you get to know each other from every angle not just from the bedroom...

And guys i know that inside all of you are just a bunch of softies - you need love you need presents, you need fun and games (even if it calls for fart jokes :D ) and you need a companion most of all - thats where a women steps in she can give you all that and still leave you to play with your car (hopefully without a hissy fit)

Hope that all makes sense... i might be young - but you don't have to be old to know what love is...

Love ya guys......

oh yeah theres some cool stuff, but some weird shit in here too.

too deep and meaningful for me :D

:D Why is it too deep and meaningful - i'm not picking at you...but if you think about it its just as deep and meaningful as some of the engine topics you guys discuss....

I know everyone has their own opinions like Nick said but its also interesting to talk about something most people are afraid to talk about openly or worse face to face...

I actually keep getting told the opposite, but that's probably because I keep getting myself into the whole "oh, it would spoil our friendship" or "I think of you too much as a brother" sort of situation. But then again, I've approached it from the other angle too, and that didn't help any at all, so who knows...

mr revhead; i guess sheep just aren't that deep and meaningful..... :D

women are evil, jamie will agree with me on this; kristy scares the shit out of me because she's just TOO damn good...

she puts as much into the relationship as i do

she puts up with all my shit (so far)

she puts up with all the cars (so far)

she loves to be amorous

she's fair and considerate

she does not cheat on me nor do i think she ever will

she does not hit me nor do i think she ever will

she would never murder my unborn child

she hasn't stabbed me yet

so, i figure i might as well marry her......... :(

i guess sheep just aren't that deep and meaningful

hell of a lot of fun though :( :D

Well in that case you have found yourself a keeper... if she scares you as much as you love her then good on you (thats how it should be)hehehe :D

As for you Demuire - all that doesnt sound too good... perhaps the next time you are in a relationship (if you arent already in one and just pulling my leg) make sure that you state very clearly that this is a boyfriend girlfriend relationship and that even though you barely know each other (if that is the case) this relationship is aiming to become the real thing and not just friends and not just a substitute for a brother either... if she wants in - she wont runaway...if she doesnt want in - then she'll tell you that she'll think about it - unless you really like her then - don't go any further - theres no point unless youre just looking for a good time...

Do you yourself actually want a serious relationship???

...At least that is what i think and this topic is open for all other opinions...

Already tried. I guess they don't want in. That said, they (mostly) don't seem to run away. Well, not far away anyway. And there's little point in me going any further (even though I don't usually give in easily), it either doesn't eventuate in anything and then I get more sad (which happens often), or they run further away.

So I end up just being friends, as usual. I do like someone a fair bit at the moment, today would mark exactly 3 months since I met her actually. But no, we're just friends. And yes, she does know how I feel about her. It's the story of my life, I have no idea why, it just is.

But I've kinda stopped caring, I guess years of telling myself (and people telling me) that it really doesn't matter that much and that it isn't so bad being single is starting to sink in. Girls don't like me? Their loss. It only starts to bother me a little when I go out and stuff, because most all my friends are not single, so I virtually always rather feel like a lamp post. Ah well, "bright boy" :D I guess that sort of fits in with my lifestyle at the moment; I don't go out much these days anymore due to financial status and owning a mortgage, so I don't feel quite so "left out" anymore :(

Do you yourself actually want a serious relationship???

Yes, with the right sort of person. Although sometimes it feels more like "yes, with any sort of person"...
