ke70benny Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 hey guys, once again I'm looking for some tips form y 4k what would be the best exhaust that gives her a nice note but also adds a bit of performance to and ideas are great cheer benny Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Extractors, 2" pipe, hotdog and sports exhaust, under diff. That's what I run, sounds great. Cost me about 400 but had a mate weld most of it up. Don't expect a mad power surge , but chuck on a good air filter and it'll sound mad. Quote
KEhendo Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 don't get a sidepipe off the factory manifold. mine sounds like arse but is really loud to compensate. if you get extractors and at least one resonator/hotdog/turbo muffler or whatever you call them it's hard to go wrong. brent's car has two and i think that it sounds good. gmack Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 I just removed the back box and replaced it with copper flutes. Sounded amazing! Quote
mungi mods Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 twin rear half in a 2.5 inch will make it a deeper note 2 hotdogs Quote
ke70dave Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 i think 2.5 is a bit big for a stocko K motor though? i would just go, 2", hot dog in the middle, decent straight through muffler on the rear. or if all else fails, one of these welded on the back should do the trick. Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Even 2" is bigger than you need. Get the extractors, which end in a 2" pipe, run it 2" to a 2" resonator, the longest you can buy, then run inch & 3/4 to the back with a tri-chamber muffler not a straight-through. The resonator takes out the harsh crackle and stops it backfiring. Sounds great, a little louder that sotck, breathes well and never attracts the cops. Maybe we should start posting up some sound tracks! Quote
Crowie55 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Maybe we should start posting up some sound tracks! This could be fun. Quote
Jono.C Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) When i had my ke70, Ran some cheap extractors Ran 2" system straight back with a hotdog on flanges (so i could take it in/ out) to under diff to 2 2" Tips Seemed to go better up top end and sounded pretty good, Was propper loud without the hotdog but with it in it was a good level but still sounded pretty good Edited February 22, 2011 by Jono.C Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 I agree with Altezza club. Big pipe = less gas velocity = less power. You need a resonator IMO, will clean up the sound. Use a quiet muffler, cannons are not endorsed by me, or most people that buy them 5 minutes after installation. Extractors are a good idea, Id even neck it down to 1 & 3/4 or 1 & 7/8 inch right after the extractors if it were my car. Quote
mungi mods Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 mine retains standard manifold and front pipe to hotdog then 2.5 to hotdog the diff into twin 2.5 pipes out the back total cost was $10... performance is the same ( crap) doesnt sound like a 4k = win Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 performance is the same ( crap) doesnt sound like a 4k = win Sounding like some kind of psychotic prehistoric animal through the Clem 7 after Terry gets his hand on your car... pure WIN. Until the inevitable defect :laff: THEN get a sports exhaust. :y: Quote
ke70benny Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 so far 2 inch sports it is :) also weres the cheapest place in ADELAIDE to go :) Quote
7shades Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Running a Redline (or similar) air cleaner makes them sound a bit angrier Headers will give you a nice 'vibrato' noise Anything bigger than 2" pipe is a waste of time Not running a resonator will drive you and every dog in your street insane Lukey tri-chamber mufflers have the best note on a 4k in my experience And no it won't go any faster, but it'll sound like it does.
