Its going to cost me $800 to rebuild if i can't find a nice second hamd 3sp auto for it, after speakin to a corolla specialist he informed me briefly that a holden vn/vr/vs engine an gear box will bolt straight into my corolla so I'm thinking about takin this route but has anyone ever done it an what i need to do in the sense of brake set ups if need changing etc i hav a whole vr for the transplant so any help

Would be awesome ...

Yeah mate, it drops straight in, no hassles or problems at all, EVER! Engine mounts are identical, so are gbox mounts, and the magical tailshaft fairies fix your tailshaft and diff problems, and the auto lecky leprechaun magically does all of your ecu wiring, and fuel pump and regulator installation. Be carefull of those scary DIY gremlins, they will get ya. FFS, what is happening to this site?

FFS, what is happening to this site?

lawl! Corollas have become popular with bogans apparently.

And seriously, what Toyota specialist recommends putting a Commodore engine in a Corolla anyway??

To the OP, I'd do a manual conversion. A secondhand K40 or K50 (4 speed or 5 speed gearboxes to suit a K series engine, though you'll need one from a KE30/55 as I'm fairly sure the KE70 K40 and K50s are different) will probably only cost you around $100 anyway, but you'll need a manual pedal box and all that crap as well. Or just find another auto and chuck it in.

Thought he meant only gearbox at first, which would have sounded possible as I think corollas did have same gearbox as an old holden as well.

If he was any sort of "Corolla Specialist" He would know that the 3spd Auto in KE30/55 and 70 is a Trimatic.

Not a TH700 as run in the VN/VR/VS.

Time to find a new person for information.

Auto transmissions for you car come up for sale here from time to time.

I'm situated on the sunshine coast an i have rang so many wreckers about getting another gearbox an some laughed at me an said good luck an others were like WE WILL GET BACK TO U AFTER A FEW CALLS BUT WILL BE HARD TO FIND !!

i personally want to keep the running gear standard and just freshin up the four an replace the auto so if anyone has a gearbox i will be extremely interested in buying it

An I'm not keen on a manual change as once my showcar project is done the missis will be getting this car an doesnt want to drive manual hahahaha LAZY ASS I SAY!!!

I can't wait to upload pics of this when its done will be a nice corolla when done

Plans are full cream custom trim black carpet

Painting a ford focus pearl orange with lemon lime cameleon pearl over top so look out for updates

Just gotta sort this box issue

An the speacilist said the engine mounts are the same an i just use the commodore gear box crossmember an re drill the holes to suit (not hard or rocket science) an anyone with half a brain knows u need a custon tailshaft fitted an he said to run a hilux diff other wise i can shorten an weld up a borgwarner which i no how to do n mini tubb it with coil overs to run wider tread an pump the gaurds ...

An as for wiring thats easy for me done a few transplants before just not on a corolla but the idea sounded alright seems i have a spare vr sitting doing nothing was just gettin other opinions BAD or GOOD cheers guys

For the cost of the conversion it's far easier to just source a gearbox. It does take a little time to find someone selling one but they always come up.

I'm not sure if the auto boxes out of KE7x series fit the same into KE3x series. I know that the manual boxes fit but the gear stick is in a different position.

Hahaha cheers guys i will just keep an eye out for a gearbox I'm in no rush as the body work an respray will be getting done firstly

HENSE YES $800 is exspensive for a rebuild on a car that my missis will be driving when i don't have $800 spare for it when i can wait an purchase a tidy second hand one for round $100-$200

And yeah I'm

Not to keen on the holden engine in it sounding like ratted out muffler on a 6 banger hahaha if i were to do a transplant it would be a toyota soarer v8 quad cam or the 2jz hahaha

Just for shits and giggles

Yeah just hunt around gumtree, ebay, ae86dc etc for an auto gearbox.

Besides, who wants a corolla that sounds like a bogan p plated commodore?

Whats the ae86d ??? Is that type of gearbox i need ?? Does anyone no the dimensions on the 3sp gearbox etc height weight length n width i tried googling it but to no luck

And just for those who wanna be smart asses towards me i am a new member an my pride an joy is a genuine vp hsv clubsport that is completely overhauled mini tubbed worked ls1 converted blah blah blah

So i am a v8 man at heart but love ke30/55 corolla's always wanted one to play round with either a 2jz or a quad cam V8 soarer engine so i no nothing about these cars or the engines or any of the knowledge all u guys would no so some pateints wuld be appreciated but I'm always open for nice bnegetive feed back THANKS GUYS !!

i see auto boxes come for sale time to time in the for sale section or check the wrecking cars section on here, easiest thing to do is just replace the auto box with another... they are cheap most people convert to manual and get rid of the auto... that being said if you have the know how and have the parts to do v6 conversion... why not just go with that... just got to decide which road you want to take. option 2 is a big conversion... and if it s just going to be runabout may not be worth the effort..
