HEKTIC Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 (edited) Hey as some of you would know i just bought Nick Z's Orange coupe. So I just thought i would start a thread so i can remember how she was when i started and what ive done to her. Ok well i bought the car for $300 and it NEEDS: New Rear Wheel Bearings, Surface rust removed from the body, Section of the spare tyre well cut out and a new piece welded in, New Front left Brake hose, 2 New re-caps for the front, Few minor rattles and noises to be fixed and then i will get it registered. i will also be changing all the fluids etc etc. Once that is over and done with i want to start modifying Her heres a list of things that i would like to do: Re-Trim the rear seats in black fabric, Front Reclinable Racing Seats from Just Jap, New door cards which will be trimed in black carpet, New parcel shelf trimed in black carpet, Rear Petrol Tank Cover trimmed in Black carpet, New Floor For the boot trimmed in black carpet, Momo Trek R steering wheel, Sparco Pedals JVC headunit, Jaycar 6" component speakers in fibreglass door pods, Jaycar 6.5" 2 way speakers for the rear, Jaycar Precision 12" sub, Jaycar 4x100 watt amp, Jaycar 1x500watt amp For the exterior I'm just going to give it a really good polish and try to get the paint to look the same best i can, And then ill just get some 14x6.5" bathurst globes very un original but they look good. RA60 Struts up front with king's low springs, Monroe Gas GT shockers front and rear, 7 or 8 leafs in the rear (to minimise tramp) 2" lowering blocks in the rear also I will then purchase either a 2tc or a 3tc, then it will get a cam regrind, better valve springs, weber 32/36 carby, 2.25" exhaust system with extractors, T50 gearbox, T18 diff with phantom grip device hehe thats a mouth full, if i can get all of that i will be very happy this is an old pic of the car, no longer has the chromies, will get new pictures tomorrow Edited September 21, 2007 by HEKTIC Quote

ke30king Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 where do you plan on getting 16 inch globes? and why a t18 diff. use an ra23 one? bigger axles and bigger brakes as well i think cheers, lloyd Quote
ke30king Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 if your buying these wheels new the closest you will get is performance chalengers and the come in 16x10, 15x10, 15x8, 15x7, 15x4, 14x7, 14x6 or 13x5.5 Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 25, 2006 Author Report Posted September 25, 2006 (edited) very sorry about that, it was a typo i ment 14" and t-18 diff because it is a t-series diff and it meens in the future once i have more money i can get an lsd for it, as i plan to keep this car as a daily for a fare wile, and maybe one day even upgrade to a 4age 20v and have it as a track car. I will just have to wait and see. Edited September 25, 2006 by HEKTIC Quote
jamesrolla Posted September 25, 2006 Report Posted September 25, 2006 put it on SI rego, it should be old enough and it is half the cost of normal rego, oh and ya don't have to take it over the pits just find someone you know with a certifacte do do rego checks and take it there, ya can only drive it once a week though or 52 times a year my car is on VC rego but ya gotta be in a car club that lets you have it and ya gotta get a rego check every year but its only a basic check, only cost just over $100 for a years rego and ya can drive it to club events, but ya cars gotta be old enough. why not just stick to the stock diff?? should hold on for long enough and they are cheap enough for another if ya blow ya old one cheers Quote
anastasios Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 yea ive learnt the best place to start is removing all the rust, you will be so much happier when its all gone Quote
Taz_Rx Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 SI rego DOES REQUIRE a pit inspection James!!! I've been looking into it for my mazda. Just another point about it (although this probably isn't relavent so much to HEKTIC) is the fact that you cannot sell a car with SI rego. the current owner must cancel there SI reg, then the new owner has to have it inspected again and re-rego it in either SI or normal rego. Also if he had it SI reg'd for a couple of years and then wanted it to have normal reg so he could drive it more often, then he would have to cancel the SI reg, have it re-inspected and then re-rego it normally!! its all a bit of a head fark. :( Quote

HEKTIC Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 I'm thinking about that, ive got to get it roadworthy and then i will decide what I'm going to do Quote
roids70 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 (edited) why a t-18 diff? whats so special about that that makes them differnt from a t series out of a TA22 celica that are the same apart from the diff ratios. and t-18 diffs are hard to come by unless you know the right people or unless you know were there is one cheap just thought i'd add my 2 cents worth Edited September 26, 2006 by roids70 Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 (edited) I'm thinking about trying to find a t-18 donor car(for engine gearbox and diff) if i can find one cheap enough, but if i can't which is more than likely i will have to explore other options, nothing is set in concrete at the moment. tom210 Posted September 26, 2006 Report Posted September 26, 2006 it seems like you have big plans for it.. will take a lot of time/money/pissfarting but i'd like to see it when its done.. Quote
HEKTIC Posted September 26, 2006 Author Report Posted September 26, 2006 i have big plans i know, and eventually most of them will get done, but i think eveyone has big plans for their car so why shoul i be any different :( going to look at paint, a compressor and a dual action sander on the weeked so i can start sanding the rust affected areas back to bare metal Quote
