Ke70 Clear Parkinglight Lens For Usdm Headlight Door?
e70van replied to Daxman's topic in General Mechanical
I might be confused here... (nothing new) 19914afc - panelvan lenses and t18's are different, are we agreeing on that? it also looks like dx (new zealand front) are the same as t18s..? And the bloke from finland wants panelvan lenses in clear I'm pretty sure. :P -
^ and you can always grab a spare lid from the wreckers if you ever want to change it back :P

here is a pic (not my photo) that i edited carefully... I got the grinder out and cut around the ring (there is a rubber seal underneath so it seals well onto the filter still. Straight away it revved harder and pulled harded over 3000rpm. it also sounds great too.i played around with the a/f screw abit and i helped it again. worth doing for sure. costs $0. i took the 3 clips around the filter housings outside edge off too so they wouldn't rattle around. :P

Ke70 Clear Parkinglight Lens For Usdm Headlight Door?
e70van replied to Daxman's topic in General Mechanical
Hey mate, these clear parker lenses are found on all australian spec KE70 panelvans 80-82mdl. no other models came with them in australia. unfortunately i don't have any spares for you, but they do pop up for sale from time to time so keep looking around on the australian ebay and sites like rollaclub, toymods, twincam.org etc. remember to look in the wrecking cars sections aswell. -
with my 4k i cut the airfilter "lid" right up, ran 98, advanced the timing and got rid of the mechanical fan. run a thermo instead. i also looked into an electronic dizzy (off a 7k?) and at bosch GT coil, but i got a 4age instead :blinks:

clean build mate. looking forward to seeing it complete!

stock rear shocks compressed are approx 390mm, if you get sj70 suzuki sierra front shocks they are 357mm from memory. these are the shortest shocks in the monroe catalogue that will suit. i have kyb in my wagon, part no for the suzuki shocks are kyb: 343185.

can't wait to see more pics of this thing!

4a Turbo Conversions: Start With 4age Or 4agze?
e70van replied to e70van's topic in General Mechanical
thanks bludger and dave :blinks: i will look into ems/haltech, atm ive been looking at microtechs (everyone seems to have a microtech! bah!) Dave, i found a thread on toymods about modding dizzys which is pretty interesting but i noticed if i ran a dizzy setup it would leave me stuff all room for a high mount turbo/intake piping. -

4a Turbo Conversions: Start With 4age Or 4agze?
e70van replied to e70van's topic in General Mechanical
damn, i thought there would be more people on here able to answer these questions.. Are there any good write-ups on 4age turbo conversion floating around the net that someone could kindly direct me to? :) -
also you will need ae86 hubs, discs, calipers with your struts. ke70 hubs, discs wont fit I'm quite sure. xt130 corona struts are very similar and easier to find. maybe look into this if you have trouble finding complete ae86 struts.

inlet/exhaust manifold gasket should be the same for all K motors I'm sure. thermostat housing you can use some gasket goo on it, or worst case cut your own gasket out of gasket paper. most auto shops should have a gasket for your ke30 housing in stock.

guess it depends a bit on the style of windows you have there. my van has small, crappy homemade ones and what I'm going to do is buy some sheet metal, cut it to size and weld them in there. the full size windows like you see on the dx new zealand vans, well they would be a lot more work.you would prob want to cut the panels from a donor car in the case.

4a Turbo Conversions: Start With 4age Or 4agze?
e70van replied to e70van's topic in General Mechanical
From what ive read the last few days i think I'm going to stick with my 4age and turbo that. Is it impossible to get an engineers cert with an aftermarket ecu in victoria? few questions on the ignition setup, what do i need if I'm running an aftermarket computer like a microtech? gze CAS or can i mod my current dizzy? Are the ebay highmount exhaust manifolds any good or should i splash out on a kelway manifold? will a t25g work on a highmount manifold without too much modifying on the wastegate etc? -
definitely. its pretty easy to do mate. your talking mechanics on a 30yo corolla. basic cars that are extremely well built, so easy to pull apart not like European junk :( even aim to get the motor in, bolted up and take it to someone else to wire if your not confident in trying it. maybe cost you 500bucks? to wire it in. There is so much info on this site to help you along the way, plenty of writeups etc i say give it ago if you have the garage space to do it. edit: just noticed your username! lmao

4a Turbo Conversions: Start With 4age Or 4agze?
e70van replied to e70van's topic in General Mechanical
Thanks for your imput fellas. :( I was thinking 2nd hand GZE, but they aren't getting any newer and you really don't know what your getting. As much as i like toyota ecus they are not ideal if your chasing every last kw, but look at all the r&d they have put in them compared to someone else tuning your aftermarket microtech for example. the toyota ecu will start, idle, drive everytime, any weather conditions. the wolf3d i had on my old 3sgte gave me the sh*ts. the motor is definitely a seven rib. (red writing on valve covers too) but with the smallports i noticed they have an oil drain pipe on the back of the head.. do they also have knock sensors? these are handy to have are they not? retards timing when motor is warm, under too much load? MRMOPARMAN In regards to the ignition system are you saying i can run my distributor/single coil setup for boost as long as I'm not pushing the motor to 200kws? If i end up chasing more power i will be removing the 4a and looking into a 3sgte or 3rz, w box, another diff upgrade, brakes etc etc. -
hey dude, haven't actually tried fitting the tailgate :( my car is parked on grass and its turning into a swamp now. the lawn hates my locker, that's for sure! stock internals hey..? could work. :D will wait and see what others reckon. I'm use to motors that are factory turbo (my old 3sgte and 1jz), so I'm not too cluey on turboing N/As yet.

Ive done two ke70 to 4age conversion now (in my old sedan and in my panelvan), ill give you an idea: All labour (incl wiring) was done by me and all parts also sourced myself. sedan was $2800ish but i paid top dollar for my bare motor from a toyota specialist ($950) and this was in 2007 when people basically threw away ae71 pedal boxes, tailshafts etc and t50 went for 150-200, not 300+ now.. this included all new filters, timing belt kit, clutch, waterpump, seals, fluids which i got not much above cost price. Panelvan was about $2300 but i had to pay top dollar for the 4a conversion bits (crossmembers, pedal box, gearbox etc) that was 600? luckily i found an engine at a good price this time. again this price included all new filters, timing belt kit, clutch, waterpump, seals, fluids which i got not much above cost price. If you want a workshop to do it, take the time and find the parts yourself. The workshop will most likely be more keen to actually take on your job if you have most of the parts. saves them chasing the bits and charging you for it. and you don't have to be mech minded to do this part. :( In Vic a Toyota wreckers/workshop would do this conversion for under 10k. Around 5-7k from quotes ive heard.

Hi everyone, I'm looking to save my KE70 van from daily duties and give her the attention she deserves. :? (in no particular order: power, paint job, front coil-overs and a clean interior ) The van has a standard bigport 7rib running (standard ecu) in it atm but I'm looking to go turbo. I want around 120-140kw atw max for it. i want this power and no more because i have a t50 and a t series celica diff. not wanting to go W box, r31 diff etc etc.. plus i don't think I'm that greedy :( she will move along not bad with this power :D Now the main thing running around in my head is: do i work on my bigport and setup a turbo with this or buy an old GZE and use that as my base?? I have to work to a budget (we drive corollas, don't we all?) but at the same time i want to do it right the first time. is $3500 around the money? financially speaking, a few notes to make: driveline: my bigport motor has a new 200mm exedy h/d clutch. would be nice to reuse this and not buy a 212mm like GZE's need.? engines: stick with the beast i know, rebuild the bigport add GZE toyota pistons and GZE h/gasket OR buy a GZE, hope its in good condition and fit it..? (don't like this idea much.) either way i will still have to setup oil drains, lines etc. *I've just realized i've got alot of questions about this. *which turbo to use? t25/t25g I'm thinking, will get that power and they are cheap to buy. *which exhaust manifold and where do i get one? * ignition system: on a N/A 4ag does this need to be changed to cas, coil packs because the 4age distributor doesnt adv/ret with boost? * i do like factory toyota ecu's, and would have no problem running a GZE ecu if it can make the 120-130ish with lowish boost levels. (I'm hoping i can run 10 maybe 12psi tops to get that power. i'll be honest, i haven't researched this part much) * does a GZE have a knock sensor? I guess that's a start to my questions. any help, links appreciated. click, post thread! Andreas
