  1. Finally goin well now,got the other motor in but the dizzy was pissing out oil straight onto exhaust. Nice smell. Changed over dizzy off other motor and thats fixed but it looks like one of the seals in the t/belt area is seepin so will have to change them next week. Get my tax back and the exhaust will be gettin finished,have pulled off the black strips off the side and will be polishing her up on the weekend. Took a coupla quick pics of her now,taking the strips off changes the look of the car a fair bit.

  4. I've had 2 old lady cars,first was a '64 beetle that the owner was a customer of ours and she had it since new. now the ksev i have now i bought off the original owner since '83.
  5. Think i had a similar problem when hooking up the wiring on my car. near the coil/dizy plugs on my loom was a single black plug that needed to be powered up..good luck
  6. Cars good fun at the moment. stock tyres and wet roads are fun. turned out of street this mornin in a little slide,looked over :fuzz: luckily it was only paddy wagon. :huh: not that i condone irresponsible driving(but it is fun being able to do it).

  8. Good score,as mentioned above the 4age would be the go engine wise. Just put one in my '83 corolla and loving it. Other thing i would recommend would be 2" lowered springs and some wheels. Will look real good then. Make sure it's had timing belt done or at least get it checked,don't want it to break. These things are pretty indetructable and perfect for first car. Have fun...

  12. new motor in today,now i hope it's just a case of drivin now. at least now i've got a spare 4age wiring loom and computer. :yes:
  13. got my front cut today,hooked up battery and she fired straight up on aerostart. sounded pretty good,car has 245000k's on it but will see how it goes. got the motor/box out and got em seperated. just gotta change over my stuff onto it. :wink:
  14. 4age conversion would be easy in ya wagon. do it,ya know ya want to. :wink: what i've done in mine would probably work for you,pull the pickup out of your tank and put an intank efi pump on the pickup tube thus no external pumps/surge tanks. theres info on the forum about this. paint it yellow too cause that yellow wagon looks ace.
  15. I got it with my 4age stuff,i think it's out of a hyundai lantra.Heaps of other options would probably work too. I should have an ae82 radiator very soon from my front cut. I won't need it and will be sellin it off cheap. The conversion is actually pretty easy,ae71 stuff and it bolts straight in. Mine's just being a problem cause of the condition of the motor. Piece of advice,be sure of your motor or get one with a warranty. :wink: Hopefully have it workin by next weekend.

Not happy jan!!! ended up pullin motor down to diagnose smoke problem(finally). oil control rings were all gummed up in grooves and barely protruding. thought ok,just hone her out and new rings n bearings and problem solved. bores were badly corroded but were comin up ok except when doing no4 found the mother of all ridges round part of the bore. not going to put it back together to just break a ring. damn!!! pickin up ae82 front cut tomorrow to start it all over again. :( just need to find a money tree somewhere...
  17. Havin dramas with mine too. Was pressurizing the cooling system so pulled the head,yep blown head gasket. had head skimmed cleaned up water jackets and reassembled. Then it was blowing smoke like a bastard(like valve stem seals),pulled head again and got new valve stem seals in. Reassembled but still blowin smoke like mad. Only seems to be doin it since head takin off first time,what the hell? Looks like i'll have to rebuild it i guess. :(
  18. What about suzuki gti motor? Has anyone done one of these? People put 4k's in sierra's so why not some payback... :yes:
  19. Found an old efi pump from a later model fwd corolla. pulled out pickup and just cut it off and put the pump on the end. just used the standard fuel lines and seems to be workin ok. hopefully get the smoke sorted out and it'll all be good.
  20. got it running better,idle seems better but now it's blowin smoke like a bastard. think the valve stem seals might have gone >| .my bosses 351 in his falcon started churnin out smoke. pulled it apart and found the valve stem seals in the sump. think the cam we put in made the valves move just enough for the gunk on them to break the seals. hopefully it's just the seals,may need a ring and hone job...
  21. Got the head back on on friday,blown on no.4. After putting it all back together,no start... Pissed me off,all the compression had gone bye byes?????? Found out the exhaust cam has to be in a different keyhole to the intake. Tricky little bastards,wonder why the hell they did that??? :bash:
  22. I've just done 4age conversion on my ke70. A lot easier because ae71 stuff just bolted in. Cost me about $3000-3500,including buying engine,g/box,radiator,modded t/shaft etc...May cost a bit more for earlier model(more custom stuff required) and depending on how serious you wanna go. I'd allow $4000-5000. Have fun,they go great when it's done. :D
  23. got mine up and running ok as well. had a blown head gasket though. heads off gettin fixed up so after that it should be all good. good to see another about to hit the streets. :yes:
  24. gonna pull the head off tomorrow and get it checked out. don't think there will be any probs with it,think the gaskets just gone hard. started pullin the original 4k down for scrap and found it was gearbox/converter seized and not motor. oh well,gave me a good excuse to get off my ass and get new motor in. put the stockers back on for a bit of fun,FUN it was. gettin it sorted slowly.
  25. budget didn't stretch to extractors at the moment. just got new engine pipe made up. been driving it around for last coupla days and the only problem i've got is a lot of pressure in cooling system. looks like i may have to pull the head for a new gasket. doesn't seem to be pumping coolant out or overheating though.
