Yep, hendos right.. The trim gets folded back under itself for a neat edge then glued down. I still have a factory roof lining in my 11 and its the same, very rarely will you find a piece of trim covering the edge of a roof lining on any car, should be the same on the A pillars. JP

I'm just hanging to see what you come up with for the rear stud pattern change... will steer me in the right direction! Looking great so far. JP

Putting the wagon back together tonight... Thought I had better get it running again for the trip ;) mind you, it would still use as much juice as a corolla when it's not running ;) It's almost time crew, shirts are ready along with everything else... Appart from some MINOR details... Lol. Will be good! Just letting you all know we will be having a slightly longer stop at camperdown. Have to wait for the canadians :) JP

Yeah, looks shit hot. :) Like all my cars that's just way too low, but it's the only way. It's not low enough if it doesn't scrape ;) recently we did a cheque (spelling?) bonnet for a beetle, don't paint it as you might get sick of it, we did a cover that slips on and ties on underneath. Sorta like a car bra I guess. We did one in black for them as well, fits like a glove. Most motor trimmers would help you out if you go that way. Makes it even easier to change the look of the car. JP

Won't have to paint it green anymore ;)

CHeers Johno, don't think I will be going to that much trouble, wil most likely be semi stripped in a weekend, prepped for pain the next then painted the one after that! Will be done pretty quickly... if not as quick as I say it will be pretty close. Adam, its a different way to tie something down! Not being a car trailer there was no way to strap the diff etc down so over they went. Doesnt do damage provided you don't go to tight, mind you, if it had decent paint I wouldnt have even thought about it! I brought a car home from Mildura like that! And just for Tate, remembered about the pics after I was... reminded... JP

Very nice Gav, Ball joint popped out? can't have been good?! JP

Cheers philby, I miss having something thet revs past 4k and that can be thrown around, this will fill a rather large gap! Johno your right, GOR4 would be great! I got it running yesterday and instantly thought about it, Then I had a look at it again and got over it! Will be taking the wagon down the ocean road instead. I forgot to mention the challenge has been set to have it painted, trimmed, dellorto'd (maybe 5k'd and 5speeded, and I know that's not a word :y: ), the suspension sorted and club plated for less than 2k... Obviously not including some labor tradeoffs I will be doing. Will see how close I come! Will be prepping for paint myself under the guidance of a good mate who will do the final prep and paint at my place, will be trimming it myself in factoryish red with some te278u inspirations  , wheels... Might borrow some :y: , engine will be built here too but I may use the 4k/4speed in it for starters then swap to the built 5k & 5 speed. Suspension and exhaust (if I have enough in the budget) will be farmed out to mates as well. Going to be a fun time when I start putting it back together. JP

Well, as some would say, its about time. I'm back in a Rolla! I have always been a fan ok early Rollas and dfunkt swayed me even more when he started playing with his old 20, so it was only a matter of time before I found something to play wioth once more. After a chat to TE278U (thankyou cheif, bloody legend) I picked up one of his three ke11's he has (I think hes a ke1x man, hes still got 4 of them!) on Saturday and got to work today cleaning it up and throwing a set of rx7 wheels on it I picked up from dfunkts place and got it running. I'm not sure how long its been sitting but it runs well after a coil, carb and dizzy change. Heres some pics for a start. Ready to go Couldnt have been happier when I found what looks to be ke20 brakes  Started work on the dash today as well, have a bunch of guages to throw in the dash but don't want them hanging off it everywhere.... so I will put them in it. I wasnt quick enough to pack them in the boot without TE278U seeing me :y: Will be looking for something similar down the track. Love these wheels. As the photos show, shes got a decent speed wobble down the drivers rear quater to sort out but its nothing major and it has a couple of rust spots to sort out. Will be getting treated to a coat of paint after said body repairs then getting stuck into a retrim, I have to pick up a 5k for it to build and might have myself a set of 40mm dellortos dor it as well. Theres a fair list to get done but it will be n the road club plated by late this year, will be track oriented but will be used for alot of club cruises etc as well. Going to be alot of fun! WIll be a little while before major work gets done as I still have to finish truboing my AP5 'Goon and build my shed to do all of this in! Will be a quick build once I get started on the 11. Cheers, JP

Secret... looks like I'm going to have to have a BIG chat with you on Saturday! JP
-
Good to see your back at it Johno, can't wait to see this come together. Will be a bit defferent being a sedan! Just the way it should be! Now get cracking, its GOR time next weekend! JP
-
Got a couple of terrible ones somewhere... I couldn't even hear you car coming over the sound of mine
-
I second that. How many race cars have you seen with cross drilled disks? JP
-
They would be his track tires from hooning around Phillip island last weekend! JP
-
Stu should come anyway! Gone soft on us and missed the best runs so far! AND Stu would have to be at least 50m further down the road than you... But I guess he doesn't count as being the furthest! Fuel consumption... I have two options. 1: drive with pipes closed, not get a headache, not go broke and not be crazy. 2: drive with pipes open, sniff unburnt fuel all day, ears begin to bleed, eyes water, vision starts to blur... Smile gets big enough for it's own seat, I scare pedestrians and it's f@$kin grouse! I'll take option two! :) :)

I'm sure there will be others from the west side as well? I can't remember where everyone is! Maybe swing by the little river service centre on your way through for another pickup point if needed? JP

I have had a chat to Peter at hoppers in the past about his setups for corollas, of course he told me they were good but did give me a look at what you get. Basically you end up running an xr8 brake setup from an au on falcon, they are almost overkill on thee little cars but engineers love them. You can have whatever stud pattern you like ( I want a kit to go falcon pattern anyway) and you need 15 inch wheels as a minimum. If you want serious overkill you can option up to a big brake kit that needs 17s or bigger. But really, if you want good brakes that will be engineer approved have a look at what kangaroosa is running, much cheaper than the $1200 odd starting price at hoppers and you don't end up changing the wheel track too much, you probably stop as well if not better too. Hopefully my rant helps! JP

1981 Ke55 Coupe Engine Modifications

There's an escort that I have seen running an m90 from a commodore on it's 2litre, have also seen a pic of a 5k in the states running one (it's a Buick blower after all), the move a serious amount of air, sound unreal and suck a hell of alot of power to run them! You would need a pretty serious motor to run something that alone displaces more air in litres per revolution than your k motors capacity! Mind you, it looks huge (read: friken awesome!) hanging off the side. Back to the m45, there are heaps of variantions of eaton blowers, I have seen m45s with the inlet at the rear and bottom outlet like the commodore m90, this would work well, give plenty of grunt without using to much, give a much cooler air temp than any sc blower and you can run themin blow through or draw through config. But after all that, you can still pick up sc14s for under $400, that's stills cheap blower and much easier to mount. My mate kickn5k has been playing with an sc12 equiped 5k, makes almost 100kw at the rears on a bad tune and scares most wrx and skyline drivers... And it was done on a tight budget, shoot him a pm for some questions, I'm sure he will be happy to help. Oh, and I would be happy with a complete bottom half of a 5k, your not going to need the head anyway  JP -
Tincans everywhere at the moment. There's a fresh lowered one at deer park wreckers, hasn't been touched yet. And a nice cressie in overrated grandpa spec with a blown head gasket awaiting a 2J... Mmm...

You know how gor runs Cam, you should be able to point him in the right direction! Basically you need everything to keep you warm, dry, comfortable, clothed, fed, your car running, your sense of humour and enough room for someone to jump in whilst car hopping! As for late fees, it's pretty late! That issue can be sorted out on the trip. Along with full payments from the rest of the crew, a reminder there that it's $65 per head to cover the camping, showbags, shirts and prizes for the awards. This does not include food (except one breakfast), drinks, Ravens tow truck trip back to SA and most certainly not fuel! But if people want to chip in on my 5 tanks for the trip feel free :hmm: And Roosa, he'll yeah! Will be great to have you come along. It might be worth having an eastern burbs meet point? Who would like to organize this, it's a bit hard for me to sort out  seems there's a few of you from over there! JP
-
when you shut the throttle to back of there's no more boost in your inlet, just vacume. If there's not your in trouble! You will need a one way valve in the line to stop any damage to your booster. As for the ecu etc, hit the search button chief, been done many times. JP
