TheNOBBLER replied to TheNOBBLER's topic in VIC / Melbourne
I havent forgotten about this, just been on the backburner for the min. Will post up some more info as it comes to me. -
Sorry to say, but I am not going to be able to make it to the run. Turns out I have a wedding to go to! So I will have to catch you all on the next one.
-
Not lookin like it at the moment, there are no more events on the Calder site so we will have to wait and see. Was pretty good last night, the same ae71 as last month with another one almost the same with a mad driver... he had no problems throwing that into a corner!
-
Haha! At least you remembered today! I will be there from 7 or 8ish tonight, would be there earlier but have prior comitments. Should be another good night anyway, hope to see some more people there.
-
If its the 19th I wont be able to make it, I will be in gippsland for a rather large party... But the weekend before might be alright.
-
I used to carry a nice bound copy of that in my car at all times. When I used to get pulled over for wheels etc I (politely( gave the officer that for a read, makes a world of difference having proof in your hands! Sorry to hear you were shafted on rego stu, judt put it in later... noone will notice.

It would steer better! There is a thread about a bloke doing this in the states floating around the web somewhere. He is using front struts in the rear of his '82 and I think he was using a celica diff or something of the like with custom CV's to suit. He was setting it all up on a rear section of an '82 he had so he could get it right before swapping it to his driver. I will try to find the thread for a link...
-
I managed to sneak past you at the bus... I was a half dozen cars behind you and ended up a half dozen in front! The v8 in 3,5 litre form revs like a 4age... would make a great little rcket with that in!

Are you sure it was a 20valve box? Mine has completly different drive shafts and a different shifter linkage setup. Might just be different between models?

Thanks for that Lesley, that will be a big help for myself. I think I will get in contact with there club pres and get some info on the run, some advice from someone who has tackled this before will be fantastic! -
Sadly I think were going to have to make friends with someone in the firebrigade for a ladder the size we need mate! If you think you will make it let us know. Jarrad

Did someone say Leyland V8? hehe... nice and light, nice and small! I'm still amazed we didnt get pulled up at the booz bus! I was in the overtaking lane just before it (it was on the other side of the crest) and would have been radar'd (yep, they hide in the bushes now!) at the wrong side of 130... What a bad feeling that was! But the Celicas behind me were still catching me at that speed! Now, remember, we don't condone any of this crazy behaviour! I will definentally make it to the next one if I can!

Its looking like it will be the Australia Day Weekend at this stage, should make it easier for people to travel (interstate or otherwise). I am getting a bit of interest from the VIC lot, if we get more interest from the SA group then we will stay further along the Ocean Rd to accomodate you all! Should be a fantastic weekend (Will be overnight so we can have a beer and bullshit sesion) and shouldnt be missed! If the event runs well enough I would like to make this an annual event. Jarrad -
Well, another Drift meet is on the way! I will be attending with some mates of mine, so if your interested in a good night come along! I went to the last meet and it was a fantastic event, from the back straight long skids to the Skylines hitting the walls (gotta love that!) its all great! Jarrad

And thats my twinky 3 cars behind ROLLLA's! Lol! If you have the droniest exhaust then I must be second! We stopped 10 mins outa Hay and put the baffle in... I had a bloody big headache already! I'm a bit annoyed that I missed the best part of the run but I was already stuffed from the first part (turns out I have a bad case of the flu) and I had to get home... To go see Live! And bloody glad I am that I saw them! They were AWSOME! Cam (MRMOPARMAN) is getting praise from many forums about is driving skill in the little beast! Woulda love to have seen it in full swing! Hope to see everyone at the next event... one of many Muller has greatfully looked up! Jarrad

Pretty sure the rear section is different. The seca has a longer rear and different pickup points for the muffler to the hatch. Head to a wreckers and take a look at a couple. Jarrad

Great Ocean Rd Cruise 27-28th Jan '07 Aus Day Weekend
TheNOBBLER posted a topic in The Event Archive
Hi all, I am currently throwing ideas etc arround to organise a Great Ocean Rd Cruise from Melboure. It has been suggested to let the S.A. Mob in on it as it is around the halfway point between the two cities and I think it would be a good chance to meet some fellow Rollaclub members from another state. Click the link to see what i am on about... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?s...pid=146328& Let me know if this idea is a bit wide of the mark for everyone in SA, I used to join some Melb and Adelaide runs with a Torana frum when I lived in Mildura, so it might not be too far for some. Anyway, check it out and see what you think. Cheers, Jarrad Attending Members List! Will Be Updated Regularly! I have a list of people who have confirmed they are coming and camping/not camping etc. Heres what I have so far... Camping: TheNOBBLER (Me) + one (Paid in full) MRMOPARMAN + one (Paid in full) kickn5k + one (Paid in full) Muller Webbers4x48 (Paid in full) Pozman + three (Paid in full) Raven + one (SA) (Paid in full) nawty4 (SA) Teddy (QLD) (Pay on trip) Raceflorolla (SA) (Paid in full) Not Camping: Gze82 I also have a list of people who have shown interest but not yet confirmed. Born Rolla (SA) killer ke70 woteva (SA) Rightio! Thats 17 people confirmed camping so far, one confirmed for the day trip and 3 still thinking about it... I will update this as we go. What I now need is for anyone who is bringing someone elso to let me know so I can put you on the list... Otherwise if you are camping it will cause problems when we get there. This isnt a problem if your only daytripping. PLEASE CONFIRM THIS ASAP!!!! posts concerning stickers/meals/other ideas. This way I can sort out deposits asap. Thanks all... Jarrad -

Haha! That sounds like most of us! I'm glad there are some keen people out there! As I said, I have been wanting to do this for years but havent had the numbers. Ok, so its sounding like everyone needs some time to get things sorted, we have had one suggestion of early next year so this would seem about right? Any other takers? I suppose the only long weekend early in the year is the Australia day weekend, have a think about that one... I am also assuming more people will be in for the weekend rather than the day trip? If this is the case I will get some info on accomodation etc and post it up, but I need to know what everyone is thinking here (refer to 1st post I guess) so I can figure out which direction to take. I will post this up in the S.A page as well, that was a good idea kickn5k. The more the merrier.... well, to a point. Somehow I don't think 200 cars on the 1st event would go down to well! Also, on the numbers note. I'm not fussed if people arent driving a Rolla, it would be great to see the majority of cars being Corollas but in reality it isnt always possible. That said, I don't want this turining into a Commodore cruise etc. Basically, if you have some mates that might be interested (and will be reasonably well behaved) then let them know... but also let us know! SO, what I need form you all is ideas for dates, accomodation etc and what you would want out of this trip. If all goes ahead and goes well this could even become an annual event... that would be nice! Cheers and thanks for the responses. Jarrad -
yeah yeah, rub it in! Lol!

If you have an Ae82 onwards rolla they will fit... if your have a set of flares to cover them up! They will hang out the guards like no tomorrow! Camira rims on the other hand will fit that model fine. Just my input! Jarrad.

I know how you feel, a while back the car in front of me stopped in the middle of the road to turn... no blinker and no brake lights! This was the outcome! -
:y: Was wondering who would say that first!

Hey all, I have been wanting to do a decent Ocean Rd run for a few years now, but have never had enough people interested to do the trip. SOO, I thought I would run it by the Rollaclub members and see what you all think. I was thinking of meeting up in the burbs and then making the run to Torquay for lunch or just a stop and gasbag. As we have members from down on the peninsular they could maybe take the ferry over and meet us at Geelong of Torquay... either ither. We would have to decide on how much of a trip it would be, do we make our way to Lorne and hit the beach on the way there or back? Or do we make a weekend out of it and drive to Apollo Bay and camp the night, then make our way back the next day? This would make for a great night camping etc... Just an idea! I threw in the camping idea as it might be a bit much driving to Apollo Bay and then back in a day, thoughts? Another idea (if people would be prepared to make this an overnight event) is to stay in Aireys inlet (between Anglesea and Lorne), I have a contact there that would most likely be happy to have us use there holiday house for the night, provided we don't leave it in a mess and throw in, say $10 each for power etc and just to be nice! From there we have many surf sport to head to and/or we could make the run up to Lorne and have some fun over there. I thought this would happen late November early December, or make it late Jan early Feb. Ok, might have thrown in a bit to much info for the min, but still. What does everyone think? A Lesson in Acceleration First, some useful info: * One Top Fuel dragster 500 cubic inch Hemi engine makes more horsepower than the first 4 rows at the Daytona 500. * Under full throttle, a Top Fuel dragster engine consumes 11/2 gallons of nitro methane per second; a fully loaded 747 consumes jet fuel at the same rate with 25% less energy being produced. * A stock Dodge 426 Hemi V8 engine cannot produce enough power to drive the dragster's supercharger. * With 3000 CFM of air being rammed in by the supercharger on overdrive, the fuel mixture is compressed into a near-solid form before ignition. Cylinders run on the verge of hydraulic lock at full throttle. * At the stoichiometric 1.7:1 air/fuel mixture for nitro methane the flame front temperature measures 7050 degrees F. * Nitro methane burns yellow. The spectacular white flame seen above the stacks at night is raw burning hydrogen, dissociated from atmospheric water vapor by the searing exhaust gases. * Dual magnetos supply 44 amps to each spark plug. This is the output of an arc welder in each cylinder. * Spark plug electrodes are totally consumed during a pass. After 1/2 way, the engine is dieseling from compression plus the glow of exhaust valves at 1400 degrees F. Cutting the fuel flow can only shut down the engine. * If spark momentarily fails early in the run, unburned nitro builds up in the affected cylinders and then explodes with sufficient force to blow cylinder heads off the block in pieces or split the block in half. * In order to exceed 300 mph in 4.5 seconds dragsters must accelerate at an average of over 4G's. In order to reach 200 mph well before half-track, the launch acceleration approaches 8G's. * Dragsters reach over 300 miles per hour before you have completed reading this sentence. * Top Fuel Engines turn approximately 540 revolutions from light to light! * Including the burnout the engine must only suhe redline is actually quite high at 9500 rpm. * The Bottom Line; Assuming all the equipment is paid off, the crew worked for free, and for once NOTHING BLOWS UP, each run costs an estimated $1,000.00 per second. The current Top Fuel dragster elapsed time record is 4.441 seconds for the quarter mile (10/05/03, Tony Schumacher). The top speed record is 333.00 mph (533 km/h) as measured over the last 66' of the run (09/28/03 Doug Kalitta). Putting all of this into perspective: You are riding the average US$250,000 Honda MotoGP bike. Over a mile up the road, a Top Fuel dragster is staged and ready to launch down a quarter mile strip as you pass. You have the advantage of a flying start. You run the RC211V hard up through the gears and blast across the starting line and past the dragster at an honest 200 mph (293 ft/sec). The 'tree' goes green for both of you at that moment. The dragster launches and starts after you. You keep your wrist cranked hard, but you hear an incredibly brutal whine that sears your eardrums and within 3 seconds the dragster catches and passes you. He beats you to the finish line, a quarter mile away from where you just passed him. Think about it, from a standing start, the dragster had spotted you 200 mph and not only caught, but nearly blasted you off the road when he passed you within a mere 1320 foot long race course. That, folks, is acceleration.

There was an ae94 all-trac sedan made and an ae95 wagon. Just have to keep digging through the search engines!
