  1. True... Well if it helps at all the S-series has a 6.38" crownwheel, and according to Helene & Matti came in: Corolla TE21,27,28 (some) 71-74 Corolla TE31,37,38,71,72,75 75-82 Corolla AE71,72 83 Tercel AL10 80 And the T-series is 6.7", came in: Celica ALL 71-85 (RWD) Corona RT85,95,104,114,105,115,119,134,32,34,36 72-82 Corolla TE37,51 75-79 Corolla TE27 (some) 74 Corolla AE86 83-87 (?) Although how accurate that info is I don't know... After all Australia seems to have gotten a good mish-mosh of cars...
  2. Heh, that's actually tempting, if I had the time I might actually do that... But no, I don't think I have the time :) The last time the car was at the brake shop they scratched their heads and said "maybe it needs to be worn in", if it isn't worn in by now I'll be damned... Been driving around clicking on and off the handbrake for a fair bit now. I might take the drums off again and clean it all and roughen the shoes and and see if that does the same magic it did on Pinky...
  3. I'm afraid your info is probably wrong - Oz never got the 4AGE AE86 (or any disc brake rear ends). We only got the 4AC AE86 with the S-series diff. AFAIK the only cars that came with the T-series diff is the T18, and some Celicas - all of which had drum brakes. Club4AG info about the different axle sizes
  4. While I wouldn't say that Supras are the "ultimate car", they are certainly a very good looking car, and they go fairly well too. I think they'd be more of a "cruise" car than a "race" car, more of a "tourer" than a "racer" if you catch my drift... AE86's... They're awesome little cars - well designed, have good engines (well, the Jap spec ones anyway) and they're simple and light. The chassis is fairly well balanced too. But yes, they are very highly overrated (and over priced) nowadays with the big doriftor thing happening.
  5. Not really into drags (at all actually), but might come out for a squiz maybe... I'll note it down in my diary anyway.
  6. Pro_ke: too late, Doug has it now :) And what's with the Gazelle??? You should keep the KE20 and get him to sell the Gazelle instead :)
  7. Sounds like a good price, a bit much for me at the moment though (have to pay for airfares to Malaysia and the US, have to buy a new camera...). Will have to see how much I can get a 2nd hand one maybe... As for the AE86 rear ends, there should be 2 different ones. Generally here in Oz it would be the earlier one (T18's, xA2x Celicas came with the earlier T-series diff with the smaller axles). Besides, the later model (with bigger axles) only came out for a very short period of time even in Japan.
  8. Doug: Now you're really going to kick my a** in the next QMS :) Esp since now the tables have turned and you have a working handbrake and I don't :)
  9. Pinky went for the grand price of $850 with spares, sans tyres, 5 months rego... Though I suppose it went to a friend who'd helped me out a fair bit with Hal...
  10. Hehe, typical :)
  11. I don't know what the ZE512's are like but steer clear of the ZE326, they are really crappy. I'm not too big a fan of the P6000's either, they are the sort of "last forever no grip" tyre - taxi material. Between the 3 tyres you listed I'd go the a539's.
  12. No you can't. Hard tyres tend to last a long time but don't go so well with grip, and soft tyres tend to be the opposite. I've taken about 20% off my semi slicks and I've only driven about 400k's on them...
  13. Putting a price on things... I hate doing it too. I think when trying to do this, it all boils down to "How much is it worth to you?" Because, at the end of the day obviously you (the seller) would like to get as much as possible, whether it be to recoup costs or to make a profit, while they (the buyer) will want to pay as little as possible. So, how much is it worth to you? How low will you go? Is it worth selling it at that price? Or would you be better off keeping it at that price? It's a tough choice, and I think like you said, "how long is a piece of string"? I guess the only thing you can really do is to have a look at what other people are selling their cars for and base it from there, although for a modified car (such as your awesome KE20) it's rather hard because no two modified cars are the same. Heh, I think for modified cars it's generally something along the lines of "how much have you spent" / 3 or so :) I know I've spent close to $15K on my Corolla, and no insurance company will insure it for more than $5K... Just Cars wouldn't even insure it for $3K... Although out on the open market I recon I could possibly fetch closer to $7K or $8K maybe. Heh, maybe wishful thinking...
  14. Yes, Ceat are made by Pirelli - I think they are basically the older Pirelli moulds or something like that. Haven't heard any really good things abou them, and wouldn't consider them a "performance" tyre, but they are cheap and should be of decent build quality.
  15. What series Supra? Supra's are cool :) And yes covergirl, we all like everything about you :)
  16. If the Nankang website is anything to go by, you should get the EX-500's. After all, according to the website: But darn, no 60 profile tyres in those... What about the EX-601's? Oh YEAH :) Those sound perfect for a KE15 :)
  17. Yeah, what's this "real car" business? :)
  18. Don't have slip (is this the gearbox end?) or even the gearbox yet... Have located a slip though, but no gearbox yet. If it gets too hard I'll just do it with my current gearbox for now till I find another one and then modify the tailshaft again...
  19. Yeah, true. After all, I was running around the house with a skirt yesterday... *oops did I say that out loud???* :)
  20. Hmm, still recon it may be cheaper to cut & shut my current one, I know someone who can do it - it's just what parts to use (and where to get them!) :)
  21. Ah, I forget about the mazda stud pattern thing...
  22. I already don't exist, so what's to feel left out? :)
  23. Erm... Maybe give Craig Hornibrook a call? His number's in the HSCCQ newsletter... Given the options you've listed I'd probably be inclined to go with the 165/65R13's, probably hard to find anything "performance" oriented in that size but given the budget I guess that's kinda out of the question anyway... Why not go to 14" rims? Much easier to find tyres reasonably cheap and reasonably good...
  24. Isn't it funny how everytime a female joins a car-enthusiasts club or forum they immediately become the most popular member? :)
  25. There used to be a TRD page that I got the part numbers from, but I can't seem to find it anymore!
