Umm, I still haven't had any luck actually finding my sikaflex spray... When I do I'll let you know. Grout pen sounds cool, I must acquire one of these!

All my masking tape keeps falling off...

Where can I get one of these?

What is the white marker pen thing they use to mark bits at the wreckers? It looks like a paint pen or something, is that what it is? It seems to write on anything, even greasy yucky bits... I want one of these, I need to start labelling my bits...

QLD'ers do it better :)

I mostly develop web applications for the university. Most of the stuff I do relates to the student system we call QUT Virtual, which is sort of the system that controls the timetables, enrolments, student data, grades, and most other things that students do. QUT Virtual also services staff, with administration functions etc to control what happens in and around the university. It's a huge system, with a huge database, massive amounts of storage (we just purchased 6 terabytes for the project that I've just released as a pilot to some students), and runs on a several clusters of servers. Being a government organisation, there's a lot of politics involved in the workplace, and I'm slowly being educated in all of it, being newly put into a more team-leader position than the peon I was before. I code mostly in PL/SQL, although I've been throwing a lot of Javascript and CSS into my code lately, and also some Perl and a touch of Java here and there. We're supposedly slowly migrating to Java, but I'm not holding my breath. Some days, when I'm not coding, I run workshops at uni. Tomorrow I get to run a 2.5 hour workshop all by myself, it's going to be interesting. Usually I only run at most 45 minute sessions. And the days when I'm not working for QUT, I am sometimes "working" in the Sherrin Mini, and other times I help run the driver training sessions at Mt Cotton with Sideline Motorsports.

And You All Thought Nick Was Good With The Pen !

Really? Wow, that's cool. I don't get double time, or tax free or anything fun like that. I just get lots of TOIL (single time at that). -

Maybe it's not the tax that's making you take home less? Probably not the case for you, but for me when I went off contract and went into a permanent position, although I got promoted, I took home less money because I have to put more money into superannuation. So although I actually earn more money, I see less of it every fortnight... After all the deductions, I only take home like $650 a week... :) ... and then once the money gets deducted to pay the home loan... I have... oh bugger. :) -
Well, for anyone who's interested, Haikal and I are going up on Friday the 3rd, coming back Sunday the 5th. We'll be staying at Mooloolaba. There is a rally show on Friday night at Kings Beach too, so if you like perving on rally cars, come along and don't be a stranger :)

I thought Teddy was organising this :)

Temperamental photocopier? The photocopier isn't so bad, but the we do have an extremely temperamental printer. It gets paper jammed in places we never knew even existed. Constantly. I can so imagine someone stealing it, bringing it to a big deserted field and bashing the crap out of it with a baseball bat :)

Hehe... At Targa Tas we got this little round sticker (car wash pass) that it said quite clearly to stick on the "bottom right hand corner of the windscreen", so I went and stuck it on the navigators side (hey, I was looking at the car from the front!). Needless to say my driver got a bit worried and I got bagged about it for the rest of our stay there :)

That, of course, isn't my actual office, that's a rip off from the movie Office Space. But we have cubicle walls like that (blue ones even!), we have posters and notices and stuff on the walls and lots of files. We have the guy from India that no one can pronounce his name (well we had till last week, he's gone to work for Virgin Blue now, but we have several other people from various parts of the world that no one can pronounce their name...) We have the guy who really couldn't care less about his job and does the bare minimum to keep it (okay, maybe more than one guy...), we have the enthusiastic geeky genius, and we have the big guy with the big glasses who's forever paranoid. We even have the equivalent of the TPS report, except ours is called a PPR :)

Hehe, okay so I lie, that was where I used to work. My current office looks like this:

Office photo: We're supposed to get cubicle walls soon! :)

This will probably end up in the Wiki somewhere, but for now I'm just going to put it in this thread. Lots of people talk about T-series diffs, kouki and zenki etc, but few people ever mention the axles. And then there's the people who say that if you have a non-LSD T-series diff and you want to put a TRD LSD center in, then you need to shorten the axles about 5mm... Well anyways, what I wanted to point out is: Not all T-series axles are created equal. There are at least (and probably more) 3 different sorts: TA22: These are fairly short, fairly thin, and use tiny bearings RA23/38, TA23: These are about the same length as the TA22 (I think slightly longer?), and are a bit thicker, and use a much bigger bearing RA40/60: These are identical to RA23, except about 20mm longer. Same bearing etc. I'm not sure about the mounting plate, but visually they look the same. Splines are the same (obviously). I'll try to get some proper measurements or something... Maybe even some pictures if I get hardworking enough!

Wow. That makes Wagon-O-Death look like it's in pristine condition!

Heh, that's like when I went to that Show and Shine thing at Capalaba last weekend. Spent Thursday and Friday evenings washing and waxing the car, and then what does it do on Saturday? It rains. And then I had to drive behind a truck carrying mud...

Reminds me so much of Pinky! Apart from the rims (I'm not the biggest fan, but hey you got them for a good price ), it looks so good! I love the new switch and fuse panel you've put in in front of the gearshift, very very cool :)

Get a multimeter and check it. Sounds like an earthing problem, but could be either gauge or sender too.

Back on the topic, as Redwarf said, cost-vs-value, there probably wouldn't be much advantage in putting rear discs on a car that's fairly light. The front brakes do most of the work. The main advantage of discs over drums is cooling, not so much braking power. Well, and I suppose discs are less maintenance in theory (I found even the auto-adjusting drums I had weren't all that flash at adjusting themselves). So unless you're doing a lot of hard braking over and over again, I'd probably say to stick to the drums. And as Nick said, good pads and fluid can help a fair bit, as can slotted brake rotors. And if you're really worried about overheating (my KE55 had severe brake cooling problems), the first step would be to get vented rotors on the front. If that still isn't enough, then go for rear discs.

I want some of these too. If for nothing else, to look more bling. But there are other things I should probably spend money on first. Like new tyres... And another set of rims! Nick: are you getting those spacers? I think I'm going to be interested, just so that I can get more rims to fit on my car...
