From what i know a turbo can dampen the exhaust sound but i don't believe it'll be as much as a muffler can do. Don't get me wrong or that cause i like the idea of a stealth setup, but a clued up cop (and there's a fair few around) will ask why is there a snorkel running to the back of the car and also take a quick look under the car to see no muffler. I don't really think it'll give the car more poke due to lag and not just the lag of where the power will be made in the rev range but also the lag from when you put your boot into it to when the exhaust gas reaches the turbo and starts winding up. Will it be different ? Yes, it'll be different. But most people when they find out about it they'll just class it as RICE. I think you'll be better off sweeping it under the rug. About the best way for a sleeper turbo setup is of running no open air blow off valve and have it piped back into the intake if you go efi. Or with what slo said and have a search for the turbo'd ke15

Just added an edit to my last post. :bash: -
Glad to you guys are still ok Trev. I can only imagine what its going to be like having to sort the stuff out. I know i wouldn't be able to do it, going through the stuff i have in the garage is one thing but once i started on the kids stuff i wouldn't be able to do it, i'd just break down and that'll be the end of me.....

Bloody heck people are starting to turn into friggin animals out here. At a servo two people had a fight over a small bottle water. People are stealing others shopping trolleys. Scumbags are down in the main street looting. Who should be shot in sight

Starting to wonder how Jono's (ke30nut) is going cause he's in town here somewhere. Brother has a few photos from when he was stuck at recpo. I've got a video clip from when we went for a tool around town (about 12mins of it). I think amber posted it up on her facebook page
-
Best of luck mate and stay safe

Feeling for my brother at the moment. The video clips with Repco in the background, thats where he was at the time and one of the cars that was caught and carried away in the flood had people in it. It looks like two of his friends have been killed in the flood and at least one of his workmates is missing:sob:

Been treading water for the past couple of hours waiting for old Noah (aka Trev) to turn up in his ark. How quick ? I'll put it like this, we went to the library, picked out a few books drove back home (about a 15-20min drive) just as the rain was getting heavy and i'd say add another 15minutes onto that and everything was about 3 meters under.

Went for a bit of a drive around after it all happened. A real eye opener with most it.

How Hard Is It To Do A Manual Conversion To A Ke55
towe001 replied to f.i.t.'s topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Yes was a bit. The vk ran the trimatic, it didn't use a computer for the auto. It was a vacuum and hydraulic job. Since its now known what the car is, being a '55 its hard but it can done in swapping the trimatic (yes the '55 ran the trimatic as well) out for the k40. Firstly have a search cause it has been covered. A list of parts needed - center console tail shaft diff center (depended on how you want to drive the car. I'm running the auto diff, most times i can tool around town in 5th and it'll pull in that gear from 55) speedo cable clutch cable and the rubber bung thing that sits at the firewall the cable runs through. manual cross member auto cross member You'll need to weld both cross members together (unless you get a custom one made up) Find the vacuum hose that runs from the carby to the kick down solenoid on the auto and remove it. It'll make a good place to hook up a vacuum gauge. In front of the shift lever there should be a 6-way wiring plug that'll need to be unplugged and a cross over wire placed in so that the car can be started. You'll need to figure out where the reversing wires are so that the reversing switch on the gearbox can be hooked up. Might be in the engine bay around the brake master cylinder. I had to run it from that same 6-way plug. So in the short and long of it, it can be done. Make sure the k40 is from another ke55 cause if its from the ke70 you'll be another world again cause its cross member is different and welding both the manual and auto cross members together may not work as well. But on that note the gear lever sits in a better spot (a couple of inches closer to the hand brake) Edit - Forgot to add that if you run the auto diff the speedo will be out. From memory when i was in a 100 zone the speedo in mine was sitting around the 150 mark at 100. Around town at 60 the speedo reads just under 70. -
AE86 steering arms for starters. The next thing you'll need to work out is ball joints. Their different, very different. As i've found out (ke2x control arms into a ke30). You'll more then likely find the ae86 bearing plate (part that bolts the top of the strut to the car body) will have to be swapped to the ke20 one. Next thing to do is have a search and see if someones done it.

You know what really grinds my gears is that being off ones face from the happy pills, you put a pair of shorts on about 2 hours ago and you just realise that their on backwards......
-
One up on you with the RS-p wagon
-
Mmm, their a six speed manual. Smaller capacity motor (2.2lt diesel compared to 2.5lt petrol), uses less fuel but you get more horse and torque over the bigger petrol motor. Normally its just the torque thats higher in a diesel. Its what i'd pick myself (apart from a subaru) but amber bitches that she doesn't want to learn to drive a manual and as a family hack i just shrug my shoulders. Thats a good point Redwarf with the baby seat attachments, my old ae82 seca was the same. It also had a spot in the middle as well but for a capsule it was useless cause the strap would work its way down between the split-fold seats.

Does this mean you'll be there on time dougy :P: :lolcry: I think we'll be pushing it ourselves

And thats the problem I do have two. Well, one and a half i guess. The eldest isn't mine and she likes rubbing it in my nose when she comes back from her dads place but she doesn't like it when i rub it back
