tryed that one, yes it did go in a little. funnaly enough they feel a bit better than the other week.. they felt like they may actually might slow me down a little if i used them.. another joy of owning an old car, things that change each time you drive it. it aint as old as my first car, that was made in 1973. didnt have a spot of troble with that. they still don't feel 100% like they where before, will check the rears the sarvo.. hopefully thats all it is :jamie:

personaly, i recon the speedy spiders shit all over both of the ones you listed, but it up to you. your the one who has to live with them, and it your money..
-
just went out and had it running with the hand brake reafed on as far as i could pull the barstard, i think it may of been slighly better. this still wouldnt explain when i shut it off they go good again....
-
ok cool, will try that too. arnt drums serpost to be self ajusting?
-
give the rears a bleed this weekend then. will a master cylinder from a series 1 t-18 work? i figured it would be slighly larger due to the bigger brakes.
-
just to clear up confusion. the brakes are good before the engine is started, when it it going and i havnt even backed out of the shed they are soft, no amount of pumping changes this. turn it off give it a 1 pump and its good and hard again. when driving it is the same as when it is stationary, soft and it takes alot of travel to before you hit any meat, even then it feels like you are stepping on a jelly fish. edit: although it is for sale, I'm not just trying to bodge it up, i stull have to keep it and drive it until my ae71 is back on the road. i don't want someone else to crash and die bacause it has fail on them and they whernt expecting it..

as i said, its only farked when the car is running mite, still wont hurt to try i surpose, but i don't think this is the problem it runs fine, i have checked all the joins, i didnt notice any cracked hoses. yes and yes, still no better. thats why it puzzels me. but i still thin its the booster, not that i actually know how the booster works instde. would series 1 t-18 work/fit? booster or master? cause i have both in working condition at a mates place...

na they are just soft then its running, when i switch it off it good. if i pump them when stationary and its still as shit as when i am driving. if it was air in the lines i would expect it wouldnt matter if it was running or off.

Brake Upgrade For Rwd Corollas (ae71 Or Similar).
tas_ae71 replied to foc64's topic in General Mechanical
wow, i didnt have time to read all that but it looks fairly hard core be the pics VHR32 foc64; if you could make the mounting braket (for a few $$), I'm sure a lot more people would go this option, as it sounds a good, cheap (slight gettoness) upgrade. -
na it idels fine, when its warm it idels a bit high tho.. although when i got it it wouldnt idel very well, so my old man screwd the ideler up on it, could probaly use winding back a little. brakes worked good when i first got it, and up until resently.. edit: also if it is the booster, will it give out all together and totaly f@$k its self, leaving me with nothing? but a feeling of of fk? or am i good to keep driving it just keeping in mind the brake has more travel and wont stop quite as good?

Suspension / Brakes Upgrde On My Panel Van
tas_ae71 replied to BOAT ANCHER's topic in General Mechanical
as for suspension, what about just cutting the spring, its free... if you want help with this you really need to do some searching before posting, if you still have questions, then ask them, also be sure to list what you actually want, budgets, etc. e.g you have a budget of 500 and want all bolt in stuff.. and you want it a little stiffer, or you want a nice daily, or a 1/4mile monster. we can't read your mind and as they ahvge said^^^ they get a little bothered when they answer the same questions once a week. -
hey, got a bit of a problem with the stoppers. symptoms: when she is off the brakes feel good, when i start it up and its running they turn shit! the peddel have a lot more travel. a few times the brake warning light flashed on and stayed on for a while, when i braked it would go out and then back on (i thought it was a low fluid light). checks: i have gave the fronts a bleed, but i do not think this is the problem, because they felt good before i bleed them and after, it impoved slightly. i also topped up the fluid and it wasnt low before. i cannot see any obvious leaks and i have checked the vaccum line while it was running again no problems that could see. i think it maybe just the booster is fkd, i belive it has been replaced at one stage. it also has a asian imports sticker in it and "ke70" in white marker which wreckers often do. any ideas, or people who have had this problem before if you could show some light on the problem that would be good thanks

Brake Upgrade For Rwd Corollas (ae71 Or Similar).
tas_ae71 replied to foc64's topic in General Mechanical
are series 1 and 2 t-18 struts the same? cause I'm fairly sure the brakes are diffrent. edit: i think i idea if using t-18 ones is that you have a wider choice of springs and shocks with the 51mm struts, ke70 has 45mm. -
sold the 4a conversion parts and bellhousing off of my t-50, i will problay keep it as a apare.. not keen on selling the ma61's unless someone wants to give me around 450ish with tyres... i would consider it then..
-
aahhhhh :) carby 4age!! it will be awsome! do you know what type of distributor it has? i have been told it is difficult to carby a 4ag...
-
the ke70 is now for sale.. has the stock rims back on, and stock seat. has 5 months rego, good tyres, new battery, just serviced etc...
-
so that one i sold ya has been modifyed.. lol the bloke i brought it off didnt say any thing about it, and i never noticed until you pointed it out. radical paint job i did on it, on that angle you can see all the bits i missed... lol edit: what are you doing to do about a lca bolt? i presume they arnt original either..
-
yeah i seen that, it has a tough chin spoiler too, i think it maybe paint brush rather than air... lol
-
a 2" would be heaps big enough for a 3k.. you wont notice much of a gain in power if any maybe 2hp.. but if you stick a bigger carb/carbs it wold make a significance increase in perfomance, well enough to feel it/hear it. :)
-
what about just cutting a cluster from another car to fit yours? for example i could get you a t-18 dash..
-
sure do, got every thing pretty much, they will be for sale as soon as i can be bothered putting up an add. ill try and sell as a kit rather than individual parts.. was going to but a cheap ae71 came up, so i brought that insted. the body is a bit rough and needs a little work. but it was so cheap i couldnt pass up the offer. have one bloke intrested in it atm, hopefully he will buy it so i can fix the ae71 put some suspencion in it and cain it lol..
-
sell as stock, no ma61's etc
-
these spacers don't seem dodgy, i have put them on the back now, i also got the longer type wheel nut that go into the rim so they have more thread than stock ones.. might see if i can make up some wider ones, could use some slightly bigger ones on the rear. the front is perfect without spacers. how fully (if i can be bothered to get off my arse) i will be cutting the springs this weekend. with the ma61's it made it slightly higher so it looks more like a monster truck...

what about using RA40 Celica lowerd springs?
