  1. i know a standard motor can do that sort of rpm, but i want it to have some sort of reliability. i e-maild them, have to wait and see if i get a reply. i had troble with my standard carby in traffic... i will just turn the idel up if need be.. your not the only one.
  2. i have a cam for my 4ac, i got it a while back but I'm a little unsure what its like as i havnt had that much to do with single cam motors. i have not yet put it in (was waiting for a bigger carb so it would make a driffrence). the guy who i brought it from siad it was 290degree with an extra .6mm or .8mm of lift, its rated between 3500-7500. is this considered a big cam..? i know this is about the biggest you would want to go with a 4ag in a street car. i did a seach on you tube but i found conflicting clips with claimed 282degree cams, i sounded stock on idel and the other ideled like a stock one with the choke on. also because it has extra lift does that mean that it will valve bounce earlyer or cause more stress on the valve train making failure more likely? when i build a new motor i intend on revving it to 7500, in most peoples opinion would new standard valve springs (more tention than the shagged 20od year old ones) be enough for this rpm reliably? or does someone know where slightly stiffer one can be brought from? or taken from other engines? thanks for any light that can be shead.
  3. they have chrome spokes with polished lip as they are now, lip needs polishing though. because of the light and reflection of the gravel they don't look so shiney. have a set of supra rims aswell as a set of 14x7 -5 cheviots :) don't worry i would have no probelms getting rid of the ma's and no they arnt going to cop black spokes any time soon..... look good enough as they are.
  4. hey, i have some avrage looking 15's on the front of my 7o. the spokes are 'blingin' chrome I'm thinking htey may look better in black as i dislike chrome on these cars. alot of people have commented that they like them.. just wanted you guys opinion on what you think..? keep them blingin or paint them black...? the rims are leighton house btw how they are now or with black centres
  5. defected for a steering wheel? only if its that starwars type one  j/k, i get pulled over all the time and the steering wheel is the last thing they look at... i wouldnt trade my wheel for anything, exept a new one of what i have got. i think its worth paying money for something good.
  6. WORD! n/a isnt always drivable, big cams are almost the equivelent to turbo they rev to 9thousand stock, i don't know of another piston motor that does this from factory apart from road bikes. the 6speed behind them is also rated very highly, it may not be unbrakeable like a getrag out of a surpa but with that sort for andard worked power you don't need anymore. imo they are a exellent engine..... it really comes down to what you want though, power, good weight balance. i 6cylinder is going to add a fair bit of weight and more the weight foward. thats something to keep in mind. a commo v6 has been put into a ke55? that handles abit average because of the mass amount of weight over the front. what about a 13B n/a? thats very light weight, and can be monuted at a desent distance to the fire wall. plenty enough power standard, get it reco'd before you drop it in and your laughing.
  7. there isnt room to run a pipe behind your radiator to the other side is there? just that would be alot less work
  8. dude chillax i have just put a 32/36 weber on my 4ac. it does improve perfomance james! i would recomend it for the cost, also remove/blockup the emissions gear while your at it. apart form the car mentioned they came on alfas, fiats and 2L cortinas. i would say 5-10hp i also have an exhaust on it which helps for the top end, a desent improvement over standard edit: i have no choke at all on mine, i manage. it was removed by a previous owner.
  9. are you serious? you have physically more engine, plus all the turbo shit...? sound like more weight to me. how much is a fraction by your book?
  10. thanks for the ideas had a mate who is a machanic have a look. about a week ago i was fiddling i found that no.3 was the problem cylinder i removed the plug and it was fould, i tryed to clean the contacts on it and put it back in, it went better for abit unil it again fould. it was right for the next few drives then it started miss again, i pulled over and checked no.3 plug and it was clean. continueing on it stard to get worse. he had a fiddle with the points and put a plug from his ge in no.3. we then took it for a drive with it running 98% of the time. returning to his place and using some spray to clean the original plug it was refited and he recomend i get hotter plugs, the same type as his ge uses (1 heat rating hotter). he also said i should add an extra 5 degrees of timing.
  11. i swapped a spare coil over and i seem to be back to square one, it having an bad miss at times... any idea what the points gap is surposd to be?
  12. As i said, have checked all the wires going to coil/dizzy have put a spare set of lead on. I'm not 100 about coil failer either, i have a spare one kicking around so i will try that. Drive to the sticker guy 1KM each way and it missed all the way there and back so it definately getting worse. Also f@$k the local auto electrician, last time when i had problems (stuffed condenser) he came around muched around with it, abuse me for the dodgy way i had the started rigged up and afetr about 30mins he told me that my dizzy was f@$k and that i should get another. I grabbed another from a mates car knowing full well that this bloke didnt know what the f@$k he was doing. i got my old mans mate to come and have a look, he ran over evenything with a multi meter and found the problem and it was running in 5mins. I was thinking the plugs looked ok, but i thought i would check. Coil will be swapped next i think.
  13. yeah i have that auto modelliste game, its not too bad, kind of like inital D graphics. I have it on PS2, i asume it was relised on pc etc
  14. thanks for ideas mate, no loose wires to the dizzy or coil. i whipped the plugs out and they are abit orange I'm not sure what color they should look like, none seemed particualy sooted up although it wasnt missing whn i swiched the car off last, plugs tend to get hot when it has been going and because it only does it for a few seconds when I'm driving its abit hard to stop becuase by time you find somewhere to pull over and switch it off it would have probaly stopped it. it dosent it when it feels like it, its gradually getting worse has done it on idel a few times. when driving its like steping totally off the throttel for half a second, it may continue doing it for 10 second or a minute then its fine again. have also swapped a spare set of plugs from another motor just to be sure.
  15. ke from mount panno - have checked timing recently was where it should be for standard. Philbey- sounds quite simerla to what you described but i think it bay be cutting on l cylinders, only for a fraction of a second, its quite violent when it does, will check them tomorrow. it has its good days also, sometimes it runs without incident seems to becoming much more frequent tho. thanks both for your ideas, if this doesn't work I will swap the carb and dizzy from my old blown 4ac, only thing was that it didn't idle which is a common problem with the stock carbs.
  16. GT4 has Trueno and Levin, also another hardcore version pops up in the 90's used section a few times. no *E7*'s tho
  17. put a new rotor button on, also tried a spare set of leads on still doing it. need some more ideas..? as i said it doesn't do it all the time but when it does I'm just waiting for it to stop completely, its my only car, can't borrow a mates cause his doesn't have a motor atm. so really need this fixed, i can't afford to go and replace everything or take it somewhere. with my current job I'm earning 50 bucks a week because they are being stooges and aren't giving me any work, thanks John Howard you shithead, for giving me a stable job
  18. can have a ke70 4speed (k40) with complete 4k-c cheap, has clutch, alternator, carb etc... all exessories..... also wrecking ae71
  19. Doughtful you will get a LSD for it, wouldn't bother with a minispool myself, may as well just get it welded properly, its cheaper and less mucking around getting it made etc. also with stiffening up the suspension, talk to Lawson (AJPS) he would be able to get springs made to suit in any rates you want, he can also recommend/supply shocks to suit your application. contact him on 0407 716 089, he is based in SA bu posts all over Australia etc.
  20. we will find parts mang, so you need to convert this other van from slope front to flat front?
  21. any ideas people? was running resonabley well up until resently.
  22. hey, been driving along for a while, fairly problem free. it starts missing badly, just cruzing along then it just misses like a bastard i have put heaps of fuel cleaner shit on the fuel, mixed it strong, held a few revs on it. its had new plugs and dizzy cap recently and i ave swapped a few spare leads around. it dosent do it all the time but when it does it does badly, it has an exhaust leak which I'm getting a gasket for but i dought it could make it miss like this
  23. they should fit, but would definatly sit inside the garuds. being wider, it should improve handeling over stock wheels grately, but unless you get a wider rim with a offset of about 0 you wont get the full benifit from having mags. extra width and offset gives the car more track and a wider rim means less baggyness of the tyres/more rubber. all up makes a car that will turn in better and more stable.
  24. do you need to block them up? from all the ones you pull off?
  25. yeah ill second that, any help you need just give me a yell, or if you need parts found or what ever..
