  1. Hi, With those turbo fittings some one wanted info about turbos in a certain rage will have the same bearing housing size so the oil fittings and snail shell housings will fit it. So all you need to do is go to a turbo shop as for an oil fitting off any turbo with that size bearing housing. As turbos come with a bearing housing up to a certain compressor size when the comp gets to big for thrust bearing to handle they go to larger bearing housing with bigger bearing then repeat. For a turbo I have with a small 3 inch compressor inlet diameter I have the mid sized compressor for my bearing housing so I use a few different parts on mine eg oil drain as on some applications the oil drain for my housing had a few neat tight bends it in and saved me bending it to fit the oil lines. So I bough it and not the original to fit. Also for the oil inlet my turbo had a BSP thread so go to ur local nuts and bolts and get a 1$ fitting to fit. I do this run 110PSI turbo oil pressure no leaks and a LOT cheaper than the fitting from mack or someone..lol cameron
  2. Well all they need to do know is strap a reheat (afterburner) to the back of the GT's and I recon this thing could smash glass windows from al the noise. As standing next to a running GT isnt to bad but standing next to a GT running 100% reheat trust me noise level increases 10 fold..lol Cameron
  3. Hi, With led's they are 1.5V BUT If you pull off the bottom of the ones at dick smith you will notice a thing called a RESISTOR..... These things are easy to do at home but for a quick way get eh pre made ones there cheap and done for you no etching boards and all that. Also avoid the super cheap ones. Was comparing them the other day and the super cheap one its interior LED light has 3 LEDs in it for a cost of $3 more than dick smith and the dick smith one has 6 LED's in it so go figure. So no I agree use dick smith ones but all the LED's are 1.5V. Cameron
  4. Hi, Today I went to an engine reconditioner to see how good these pistons were. He said the tops are all round still and they have collapsed a bit about 1 thou each and the biggest was a 2 thou drop. So just getting a few opinions do you recon it would still be worth while using these pistons if I bore my 4K out? Also is it hard to get over sized pistons for a 4K? If it is easy and cheap might just keep these one for spares. Cameron
  5. Ok when you say different bolts in a conrod do you mean the ones on the big end? I though they would be easy to get out. but oh well. Is there a way to tell if a conrod you have has chev/other bolt in it rather than stock ones? As these 40 thou pistons look clean as so will probably bead blast them if it wont kill them? And bore my 4K out and whack them in. But they also have rods on them so if they have the bigger stronger bolt in them I'm set if not well I got a jig now to fix that. Also if I have to change the bolts anyone know what fits good place to get em and any set tensile strengh rating to get them for? cameron P.S. Sorry for all these questions.
  6. Hi, Other day I got a few parts off NOPSI that used to be Super Jamie parts. In the box there are some good condition pistons missing the toyota logao and have 040 stamped ont eh top. I am thinking there 40 thou over sized pistons for a 4K but I have a picture here for you buys to have a look and see what you think about them. Also What is the logo inside the piston from could that be the brand? Ok now for the jig. This jig was int he box with pistons and push rods so by the looks of it and a guess it looks like aperfect rig to put conrods on to see if there the right size. My guess is that. But why would you need a jig for your conrods? As I know it isnt a jig for putting the gudgen pin in the piston so that one is ruled out. So Super Jamie since oyu were previous owner you don't know what this jig is for by any chance? So here if a few photos of the jig side view top view side So any help on this would be appreciated. Cameron
  7. Hi, I find the coils on the standard rolla are crap put a GT40 on it much better power fuel economy and starting and much better as my original coil shit its self Cameron
  8. HI, Turbo looks like a ST50 in the pic. But man tore the block in half on a truck motor now that takes some doing. Do you know what tractor pulling event this happened at? And what class this one was in? Cameron
  9. Just edited original post so keep information coming. Also anyone know the cam info on the 4K-H? Cameron
  10. LOL sweet idea Rolla_boy. Wonder what the boys in blue think of it.lol But at least my Rolla can now do a dump and burn like an F-111...lol mmmm mach 2.5 corolla...:D
  11. Hi, My KE30 witha 3K had this problem once before. But my fix was hard to find easy to fix. What happened is in the dissy cap the small spring loaded carbon rod that touches the top of the rotor and connects it to the coil broke off so it wasnt getting a good connection and spark was jumping here. Could never get engine to run fast some times start. So cheak this is still there and hasnt broken off on you. Cameron
  12. Hi, Just a quick note on my KE30 on the right hand side of the dash where you said the hand brake light is and 2 blank spots. my car has 1 with hand brake in it and the second light says brake for your normal brakes so you can tell if there on or low pads I think. As the bulb in it has blown so I need to replace it so I can see what it does..lol So I just though I would add that as then there is the third spot where there is nothing so must of been another factory option to get it filled?? Cameron
  13. So would it be best to use the pump off my 3K or 4K when I do the engine change? Cameron
  14. Hi, After looking around for some 4K infor mation I found there were a few versions that had more power than a standard 4K-C. So I wanted to do p bit of a list here with the good and bad parts of the 4K motor so when where at wreckers we can look out for them. eg. what version of the 4K came witha warmed up cam..etc. So feel free to add to it... As I have noticed onteh FAQ that the 4K-c has a lot less power than the 4K-U and it has same compression bore and stroke size.etc. So how was it better? So here goes: Good: Versions: 4K-E,H Twin 40mm Webers / Dellorto's Regrind cam, pick your power curve Aftermarket extractors and 2 inch system Shaved head or 3K bigport (if you can find one) Bad: 4K-C polution system in the KE70 Aisan Carby Stock nanna spec cam Cast exhaust manifold and it's pea shooter All I have for now but with your input well make this list bigger..lol. Also I am more looking for infor mation on the cam head comp ration the 4K-H,E had to add to list so if you know keep it coming... Cameron
  15. Hi, I was just tiding up my 4K motor I'm about to put into my KE30 and noticed on the fuel pump for it there is an extra outlet my KE30 pump doesn't have. The 4K is out of a KE70 and the pollution system has been removed. And I belive this line went to a part of the fuel system in the KE70. So here is a photo of the pump on the 4K: (the extra outlet is pointing away from the block on the top of the pump) Now the one on my 3K in the KE30 doesn't have this out let yet a blocked hole for one. And both fuel pumps work. So here is a picture of the one on my 3K for comparison: So my main question is what is this outlet for and when was it introduced into the corolla? Cameron
  16. Hi, OK so from what I get there roughly the same power out put just torque was increased. Thanks. As the web page that quotes the 3K has more power never says if it was the K-c or another version of it. I drove my KE70 around for a bit before I removed the 4K with K50 box on it and off the line heaps better than my KE30 with a 3K and K40 box. But I always though the K50 box has a lower first gear so I when I read the 3K put out more power put it down to this or the more torque it has. But you are right in saying the polution gear kills the motor it is everywhere and a waste of power. So in my KE30 with none of the polution gear and a lighter car eg I have no side intrusion bars in doors and it makes them a LOT lighter. So I will report back on my findings. But as is I run a stock 3K with 376,000KM on the clock and it doesnt blow smoke yet and starts easy BUT in the rocker cover it has a lot of by pass is starting to use oil and always pops the oil filler cap off due to the bypass gas. And the 4K that is replacing it has 100,00KM on it as it was rebuilt at 100,00 so in total it has 200,000 KM on it and has had new valves installed and the headd was slightly shaved and it will be going in with a new K50 box so should go a lot better. Thanks Cameron
  17. Hi, I was just google-ing on the net and found the site http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_K_engine#3K about toyota K motors. It says here that the 4K has 60HP and the 3K made 68HP. I am about to install a 4K into my car so by going on the information on this site I am giving my car less power. But Some sites are usually wrong so I wanted the opinion off this forum on what has more power stocka dn an exact value if soem one has one. Cameron
  18. Hi, I plan to finally be installing my 4K motor into my KE30 4dr Rolla soon. But While in the process of removing the 4K out of the car I tore the mounts. So to fit the 4K into my KE30 will I need to get new mounts or will the ones on my 3K motor in the car now fit the new 4K? As by looking at them they look slightly different so I don't know which ones to use. As apparently the KE30 was a bit slimer than other newer corollas. A wrecker near me also only has KE55 mounts so will these fit in if I can't use the 3K ones as there different? Cameron
  19. Hi, Ok I have looked a bit and noticed that arm rests on the door were optional in the KE30 as some base models have a strap other have a arm rest so taht can be another on the list. But in the corolla series is the CS badge and name you see on some meant to mean it is a higher model or something else? Also I used to own a KE70 corolla that had a hi-cam badge on the car and sticket on the motor. Does this mean anything or has the 4K motor got a warmed up cam in it? As this 4K used to be able to spin its wheels till you couldnt see the car on standard diff from smoke and felt like it had a bit more omph than other corollas so I am going wotha warmed up cam but if anyone els has the answer I'm interested. Cameron
  20. Thanks for that info Jip. But everyone else keep it coming as some of these options are looking good. Cameron
  21. Hi, Jip this guy is in brisbane he is fairly good on price and can do the lot on any gauge I even thing he does avation stuff so he is good with them. Ill dig up the phone number or company name for you. Cameron
  22. Hi, I am wanting know a list of what factory options the KE series corolla (preferably KE30) could come with out of the factory? As I have seen many different things on some car and have wondered if it was standard and am wanting to compile a list of parts so I can keep my eye out for them at wreckers. E.g. Fuel low light, try under glove box etc... Cameron
  23. Hi, The speedo in my KE30 went about one year ago. So I took it to an instrument place in Brisbane. The guy there rebuilt it for me cheap (forget actual price now) and he told me that gear box oil after a while works pas the seal at the end of the speedo cable in the box and slowly works its way up to the speedo. The little bit that gets there he told me eats away some rubber used in speedos and gets between the 2 spinning discs and sticking them together and makes them turn faster increasing the reading and the oil also does a few more bad things. So this could be your problem just starting as mine was about 20KM/h out then a month later I would be in first gear and the speedo would be on the 2nd time around the clock. Was bloody funny when the mechanic drove my car he crapped him self when he read 180KM/h on the speedo in a 60 zone...lol So get it looked at and if you replace speedo gears do seals as well as it will save replacing them a week later when they die. Cameron
  24. Hi, Thanks for the information so far. I plan to run an earth from the battery to the chassis of the car or a good solid metal point and then add earths on the motor and more just to be safe. But Taz_rx your right about battery boxes at a local marine shop were $14 autobarn wanted $21 and it wasn't even a sealed one and looked pretty crap so you were right. Also I always though fuse closest to the battery? I see Taz_rx yours in in the engine bay any reason for this? Also why fuse your starter don't you want maximum power going to it? Thanks Cameron
  25. Hi, Just been googling this topic and found some guys run the wire in or out i is just what ever you prefer adn some run it to a bar then jump power off hte bar to other places. But I was woundering where some of you guys have run the wire have you run just to starter than alternator or to other places as well. Also do you have a pic of your isolator swich in your dash? and How long did it take you to do this project and did you buy a kit or 100% DIY-it? Cameron
