  1. MM it's not clean now des it has your dirty hand marks and mine on it after the gear box change..lol Ill add more to this later today. Cameron
  2. Hi, Too_quick talked me into doing one of these so I though Id start tonight. ............ More to come soon eg info and photos as don't have them hand right now. Cameron
  3. Car should be driveable tonight just left to do is wait for paint to dry then ill test it on the road next to a car. Cameron
  4. Also with the spedo drive it does fit. At first I didnt think it would but a bit of playing and turning it to get it to the right spot if slotted straight in. Also I have the same ratio Diff in my KE30 that the KE70 did where the 5 speed came from so it should be the same gear inside the box so speedo should still be right. But ill test it to see how good it still is. Cameron
  5. Hi, Yes did more looking todaya nd eventualy got my cross member to line up with the gear box mount. As I had to drill the holes off centre on the cross member and use a bottle jack to get the box in the right place. But I found if I drilled the cross member in line with the old holes for KE30 K40 box the mount was 22mm out... So below is a pic of where the mount has to sit on the cross member to make it fit onto the gear box. This was taken just before drilling the holes. Also I Have just decided to cut my floor. I wanted a old 55 5speed so no hole was needed but I though bugger it if I need to go back ot the old box well ill weld the plate back in that I cut out. But now with the gear stick futher back I can use my front part of a KE70 dash I have to hold my CD player and change  Cameron
  6. Had this type of trouble on the 30 other day. Under heavy braking the motor would stall. So removing my motor today I found one of my vacume lines had over time gone hard and cracked and was letting air in so lose of vacume was killing the motor so look at you lines? Cameron
  7. RAVEN...you had me worried..Ill drill my only KE30 member tomorrow and bolt 70box mount on and might just resize holes ot squeeze bolts in etc make fit good at making custom metal bits. So ill give it a go. Just hope DOT doesnt look under car when I do change of engine number part..lol Might put my 4 speed gear nob on boz help cover up a bit..lol Cameron
  8. WHAT...*&^%&^(*&)*%^ So a KE70 one even if I re-drill my cross member wont fit into a KE30..Havent other members done it as the FAQ how to article has a KE70 box gong into a KE20 fine so thougha KE30 would be easier. BUGGER. That means I have to remove my gear box tomorrow? AGAIN.. need info on this fast as need car going again.. Might betime for soem custom brackets to go in to make this thing bolt to cross member. Anyone know how thick the steel bar should be to mount this? Cameron
  9. Hi, Well me and des attacked my car today an in 3 hourse we had my old 3K and 4 speed box out andthe new 4K and 5 speed in  But the gear box has no cross member on it and well the jack is currently holding it up. So problem is put crosmember in adn the gear box mount for rubber is about 2mm futher back if not more (will try for pic tomorrow). So How have other people done the swap in a KE30 toa K50 from a KE70? As by the looks even redrilling the gear box cross member to fit the K50 mount blocks it still wont fit int eh car as box mount futher back so help wanted? So if anyone has advice on mounting or pictures be apprecated. Thanks Cameron
  10. Why do the gear boxes leak oil when bolted up? As in the clutch area arent they oil free well meant to be? Cameron
  11. Oh just another fast question was re-reading your article and I couldnt find the rim size this setup fit under. So will this setup work in a standard size corolla rim? Cameron
  12. Hi, Nice work on the How to. One question you used T-18 struts for easy upgrade for ae86 inserts etc. I have a KE30 I know the difference on my model to a KE70 or Ae71 is there disc are wider by a few mm other wise there the same. So would this upgrade work on a KE30? Eg use same strut on the 30 and do what u did? As I don't know if a T-18 strut will fit a 30 and prefer to keep original as it works and just then go installing the new rotors and calipers. Cameron
  13. With the last post I would say the same the cost is in labour. With this project have a KE70 diff coming soon hopefully so were slowly hacking away at this. Does anyone know the spring tension on the springs in a KEXX clutch? Also does anyone have one willing to donate to the cause? Cameron
  14. Yes you are right kero isnt quite AvTur as AvTur has lube added anti freese so when planes are up high it doesnt well freese. I'm not flying so I don't add that but I do add lube to my kero. But you are right not quite the same. Google it for more info. Cameron
  15. Starting can be easy and can be hard.lol Pretty much i turn on the master switch for everything then I turn on the oil pump. Once I have oil pressure the fuel pump comes on automaticly. Once I have all the systems primed I turn on ignition and gas warm for 12 seconds to about 400 degrees C then turn leaf blower on and as I slowly open the fuel metering valve I turn the leaf blower up slowly. And in about another 5 seconds I should go from 0 to 30,000RPM. But a few times the start has "hung" where fuel is burning but it just doesnt spool but when it does RUN (Even comercial jets get this now and then) they generate a bit to much power..lol. But last time this happened so much fuel was burning in the jet it spooled up so fast rear wheels started spinning and it lifted off the ground from the instant increase in rotating force in the engine. So it can be hard. Starting is always the worst part if it goes good well engine should run well. But last time too_quick saw it I was doing arebuild from a "out of temperater run"..lol I melted the stainless steel fuel manifold (well more the weld and mounts etc) so I was redesigning and also going to find a better finish for the drive turbine houseing as well paint burns and it mild steel for testing so rust to. But it is slowly coming along. Should be track ready again by the end of December :hmm: But I run it on straight kero (jet fuel) but can burn any fuel if slightly re-tuned for it eg deep fryer oil. I have a video here of it on a hung start jumping off the ground before I tuned it to make more power Ill try to compress it and get it some where for you to see ti run. Cameron P.S. I always play safe so risk of death is LOW...
  16. I have just had an interest so just did it..lol Need to been really keen about it but as this project is into about 5 years now and a cost well I add it all up and well over 7 grand and it still getting parts and all work I pretty much did on it my self so labour was free you could say. But these things be prepared for some hairy moments to if you make one. And every part I make needs testing to the max eg combustion chamber to hot well it melt to cold wont run good etc. And testing a combustion chamber is fun..lol Turn on shop air light fuel and play with it..lolmmmm 4 meter long flames :hmm: And then you get boring testing kinda like the strength of my stainless steel air intake. But these things scare you everytime they run..lol 140dB at idle 80HP power output at the wheels and it olny weights 100Kg with full tanks and if has a loss in oil can destroy itself in a matter of a micro second as at full RPM this thing is spinning around 1333 times a second. So it can kill in a flash if your not careful. But it is addictive..lol But The reason for having the exhaust come out the side as I don't run thrust. Used to but it was slow 110Km/h max :) So I instead made a second custom turbine that I push the exhaust gas through and it spins and takes the left over energy and then that turbine is attached to the rear wheels. So then I just dump all the gas out the side and there is a duct missing in the photos that stops thehot exhaust melting the wheel..lol So I have a similar set up to a turbo prob plane motor. And now can go at INSANE speeds..lol Cameron Anyway back to topic..lol
  17. KE55 for sure. Has pre 1980 front grill plastic interior window winders and other small stuff. But I like the spot of the TV in the car, nice. Cameron
  18. corolla test pilot would you mind putting aphoto up of your head or PM a photo to me. As with the attachments it could be a bigport head so it will have a welsch plug or different manifold stuff as some big ports had a water heated manifold. But I have added your head numbers to my list thanks. Cameron
  19. Excuse me it not a rocket but a jet. You know how passionate I am about this hobby...lol All jokes aside easy to kill my self as it is a DIY jet engine (doesn't mean I lacked on safety, or anything). The compressor spins at 80,000 RPM with the tips just faster than a bullet fired from a hand gun and moves 78L of air a second and runs at a nice cool 800 degrees C ( does go over 1000 degrees C) So death wish yes. Bloody fun one but..lol can't wait till I finish the afterburner  Cameron
  20. mm as springs over time heat will kill them so in a diff 2yr a good run. but I agree $150 for springs way to much. Wanna be gold plated for that..lol Cameron
  21. Ok havent got a KE70 diff to play with yet but the chev one I have the axle just don't quite go all the way to the spider gears attached to them and they have a flat surface so installation would require no removal of parts. But on the instruction page I have onhow to install these it says to grind, sand, on machine the face of the spider gears flat so it grips better. As these are a friction device so better the surface it rubs on the better it grips that is why these things have to be worn in a bit. Wiht the springs heat will affect them over time. But $150 for springs tell em where to go. Go to a dedicated spring maker with your spring and price could be low as $3. So as I get parts and make a trial run one ill see how it goes. But I can see a problem in a KE70 4age diff as this device locks it the axle isnt strong enough and it will snap them. But behind a K motor when it locks I could see it taking it easier on the axles so again have to wait for testing. Cameron
  22. Fastest road car I have owned. Would be the KE30 the KE70 had ablowndiff so it was slow..lol But fastest car/kart I have owned would be my homemade jet powered gokart. Only tested to 1/3 throttle so far and it was doing 180-km/h could hit well 300 if I let it. But currently tunning it up so I can break my previous 80HP at the rear wheels record on it. But it sufferes from heat issues right now as it is a bit to hot to now sit in the drivers seat from tuning. And last sprint test was dodgey and want tuned and it did 0-100KM/h in 4 seconds flat  Cameron P.S. Oh it can spint he wheels at idle to..lol
  23. I have a KE30 and have never had this problem before. Could be dead hose as hot water and rubber over time not a good mix. Ill inspect mine tomorrow just to be safe. Cameron
  24. Yeah should be able to get away with box as corolla_kid didnt tell them about the hole he cut adn they passed it pon his blue plate he got for box. But Ill try the tack of a replacement motor..lol As it isnt the modifications section i will have to go through so what is the chance of them knowing..lol But on the KE30 it has the middle shifter position. As 10,20 had a far fowards one 30 and 50 had it in the middle, and 70 had it futher back again. So my hole wont be to big. Cameron
  25. You are right. These will be not as good as an real LSD but better than an open one. I came across in my research papers on performance difference when installed for a drag street car. Was better all around on launch etc. These wont do anything if you drive normaly. But if trying to spin your wheels it will. So it is a great option for a hoon who wants people to think he has LSD. For a rally car, my self I have seen these used in kahna cars succesfuly don't know about full rally but time will tell. Cameron
