  1. Hi, With heat and the starter I would imagine a turbo hanging there will be the same as there run at same heat so I'd say it will create no problem Off Topic comment: Also with your home made turbo jet you spoke about Sbox what turbo did you design one around? Also you make a pure micro turbine out of one or just build a combustion chamber for a turbo? Also anything off a car motor makes CRAP jets use truck turbos as u will enjoy it more and u can trust me there :jamie: ..lol Cameron
  2. Jip you were at the book fest so was I :jamie: This Year I only got 2 corolla manuals and didn't see any yellow books there las time I went all 3 yellow books for $10 BARGAIN but the guy in front of me at the check out had em so ;) But what I though was funny in one section I saw a blind guy WITH YES WITH a seeing eye dog walking around well feeling his way around the books so don't see that every day..lol
  3. Hahahah no I can safely say I did go faster on the black stuff on the way home but on they way there yes it was the fastest part :jamie:...lol But no notice on the way home my KE30 died so I was last to leave (due to heat fuleout of carby GONE so had to sit there cranking for a while) and I cought up to you ;) well mmm I was going at a good moving pace..mmm note to self I NEED BRAKES UP GRADE!!!
  4. HAHAH prob cheaper to buy a corolla than fix the ignition so buy a corolla..LOL
  5. Great cruise for the part I made it for. And if we didnt take the dirt road short cut we wouldn't of been late to the dust bowl..I mean dam.. Cameron
  6. Hey, Just noticed that shop in QLD you found raven is Otto instruments. That is where I had my speed o rebuilt after it died as over the years the gear box oil got to it and ate away the brass parts in it or something. I can recommend this shop to anyone. But Ill ring them soon to get a price. Cameron
  7. Hi, Thanks for the advice raven. Ill look ingot it later on. But DR1FT you sound like you are having the same troubles as me. Well it is just an age thing and what raven said so bare with it. But Ravne on a weekday soon ill ring that shop you found using google and see what they offer for us. Cameron
  8. Hi, Ok been a while since I finished this thread but here goes. After getting the alt on I had difficulty getting the fan belt on. The problem I found out was the alt was hitting the nut that holds the back of the alt mount to the block. Pic below of the bolt: As you can see above this was the alt sitting lose out as far as it could go so it didn't let it move in much and well if the alt was hitting the bolt there was still not enough play to get the belt on and if it was on the belt would be SUPER tight. So the cause of this is the original alt didn't have the rear mount off set backwards. As you can see in the pic above my copper spacer I made :jamie: But the standard one also has a sheet metal mount so it slides between the bolt and mount and wont hit. So the solution to this was to grind the alt mount down. And this is the alt after grinding: The pic above is the only one I have of the gridded alt mount but this is with the fan belt on so you can see still a gap I took a good chunk out of it with the die grinder and problem fixed. Not with the cable I went and got some cable rated at 50 AMPS at 50 volts so at 12 volts it will handle 70amps. I also left the standard cable and just ran this over the top of it from the B+ to the battery. I also went and bough the plug for the reg at a auto sparky shop so it looks neat and original and I wired it like the drawing you did dave and well got conduit and stuff and made a neat small alt to battery loom looked good..lol But that is how it all worked out. But now I can run EVERY thing the corolla came with standard and the stereo and spot lights and my bigger head lights and reverse lights and all dash lights on adn the charge light will not come on and yes I cheaked it it is because of the alt not he light in the dash..lol So alt can supply LOADS of power and now car starts easier and I also bought a bigger new battery to go with the setup so it is all new and works great now. As b4 the standard alt just head lights on and a blinker and well charge light would flash toe the blinker or beat of the music so it was worn the original alt. So worth the cost of a new regulator for the alt and the time to change it. Cameron
  9. Hi, I'm my KE30 for a while now the fuel gauge has been playing up on me. It gives false readings and is slow to work. Some problems it has is I can fully fill the tank and gauge will lift really fast then go really slowly and take about 5min to get to the right reading. Then I can drive 150Km and it will not move but turn off the ignition and back on later or when you next drive the gauge will go from reading full to half full tank. So I drove to the fuel depo to see if it was gauge or motor chewing the fuel and it was the gauge as it took 12L of fuel to fill the tank so the gauge should of dropped a 1/4 only. So I have decided to pull the fuel tank sender out and inspect it and if it is shitty replace it out of my new corollas tank as it gauge is accurate and well works nicely. So my question is how do I remove the fuel sender from the tank? It looks like a twist thing from my investigations so far but I am not sure. Next what voltages should it read and that when the tank is full empty etc. So I can also test my electrical side of things to see if it causing the problem? As I have throughly read my car manual and can't find ANYTHING on the fuel sender unit on a KE corolla so mm there no help. Cheers Cameron
  10. Just use the cable out of you AE71 van des. Cameron
  11. Hey Ben thanks for digging that up that Xany already wrote up. But mm mine is just a bit more detail..lol But I have ended up changing my setup now so I'll write that up next. Ok today after some fiddling with my new SC14 clutch I found the original clutch and all when it was assembled had about 10mm of threaded shaft sticking out of it to do the final pulley nut up. But with my setup I found I had 1turn of thread sticking out :P So I new there was a single pulley A/C on a sigma so I went looking for one at the wreckers so but they didn't have any :) But he also said at wrecker he wont split a pulley off an A/C pump so he wants $75 for a shitted A/C pump WTF way to dear so I left. Came home and I decided after so more measuring I had enough metal there to machine it down to fit. So I mounted the pulley in the lathe and I took the clutch face part of the pulley down as it was about 6mm thick it is now 2mm thick and the pulley is still strong :) But I am not using this on a car so it is strong enough for my application. But I would recommend a 3mm min for a car setup. But here is a pic of the finished product: Picture is dark but I also bead blasted the pulley to a shiny finish all over and clean as now. And you can also see how I machined it down. But After cleaning up the surface of the pulley and de-burring it and making it nice I mounted it to the SC and in the pic below you can just see how it clears inside with all the cir clips..lol But note this pic was taken before the burrs were removed after machining it so there GONE as this was a trial fit.. But after doing this mod I was able to get the whole nut onto the shaft of the SC right up to where it originally sat and it grips good with no slip so SUCCESS. But One note to I am not using the clutch in this I have locked it and removed the magnet pack for my use But if anyone wanted a clutch just put the magnet behind the pulley when you assemble it and leave clearance between the clutch face and the pulley all I did was made 0 clearance here so the clutch is engaged 24/7. 12. The fuel injection on that motor is TBI so id imagine the harness for it would be quite simple? But also TBI can be switched to carby so a nice big carby on it and you will save time and have less wires. Cameron
  13. Hi, Well I'm building a big air blower out of a SC14 supercharger. But I ran into the problem it has a flat belt like modern cars have and I needed to run V-belts to turn it. Also for a K motor to mount a SC it is easier if you use V-belts. So today in the shed after some measuring and looking I noticed the V-belt pulley with clutch in it off a sigma aircon pump FITS the SC14 I have :) All you need to do is remove all of it apart from the barrel the bearing sits on and do a swap. So I added photos below to make it easier to explain. The pic above shows the aircon on the left and SC14 on the right and both pulled back to the aluminum barrel that holds the bearing. Above shows the old electro magnet off the aircon sitting on the SC14. All i had to do to make it fit was grind off one locating pin as the aircon had 2 the SC14 has one so bit of a grind and it slipped on :P Above shows the old aircon V-belt pulley on the SC14 this slides on like it was made to fit. The reason for changing the electro magnet is seen here as the inside diameter of the V-belt pulley is smaller so it wont go over the SC14 one. But after a swap it will slid on. Also according to measurements the bearing holder on the SC14 is 0.08mm smaller in diameter so no play at all on it so nice and tight. Above shows the clutch plate now on. The reason for using the SC14 original clutch plate is that the shaft of the SC14 has a spline in it and the shaft of the sigma aircon had a key in it so the aircon one wont fit. But the SC14 one is the same diameter and the grip faces meet up so it fits on nice and works :) Gripped tight when the magnet was turned on. So after that you will have an SC14 with V-belt pulleys on it ready to go on a K motor or in my case be able to be fitted to any air compressor motor I find..lol Cameron
  14. Hi, If the battery isn't vented A it makes gas and well will make pressure and possibly blow the sealed container it is in up. Also Battery's make Hydrogen :) This is highly flammable so if you want to turn your car intot eh hindenburg put a non sealed battery in a box it will build up one small spark and good by corolla. So it is purely to vent the flammable gases coming off it. Cameron
  15. NERDS...HOW DARE U..lol Nah I just love making weird projects anything from a jet scooter to my old cap banger..That made AWESOME sparks..lol So no the thrill of knowing you did it and well people saying u can't do that and you do is awesome and well not many people can say oh i built one of those when I was young..lol Most kids play the sony or build a sling shot I must say fun if it float your boat but nah can't beat making a good old coke bottle rocket and launching about 25 of them on to the neighbors roof while there out...LOL that was fun.. Cameorn
  16. OMG Jason you built a Tesla coil how big?? So was about to make one once but decided a jacobs ladder was easier..lol But I am building a Tesla turbine right now..lol We so have to meet.......................you coming on cruise??? Cameron
  17. mmm I like the idea of leaving it one month then doing all that crap. But you could also steal there number plates put them on your car then FILL your fuel tank an MANY MANY MANY jerry cans then drive off security tapes will have his plates on it so..lol hell get he blame..LOL and we all love free fuel.. Cameron
  18. I do my crazy projects just to well yeah enjoy them and fill spare time. I build things from jet karts to rocket scooters to DIY tools. So I just like to try and DIY ANYTHING so just eh though of I made that ground up and it worked and all the years I put into my jets it just worth it to hear it scream for a few seconds even if it screams to death I love it. And the fact that yes I have no rocket science degree but I can still build them is just FUN..lol That is why I like my rolla I can do anything with it so I like just tinkering seeing what I can do on the cheap and DIY to..lol Cameron
  19. Trev ill be jsut going straight to the park at wivenhoe that I told jip to end the cruise at so mmm wanna tag behind me out there? Also 6am pff that isn't to early..lol But come to think about it I only need to wake at 9ish to get to wivenhoe to meet u all...LOL :) Cameron
  20. Hey so 6 or 5 am which is it Jip, Just so I know what time to meet ouy all at the dam park. Wivenhoe park that is. Cameron
  21. Have a 4X4?? Get a snatch strap on there car and your 4X4 if you do and just pull it around do some damage and I'd write the car off just SCREW there car for what they did to you as that man is low.
  22. umm raven aren't the 7K blocks exactly 11mm wider than 5K and down to K motors so wont ONLY 7K sumps fit them and you have to bash and modify them as no other sump will fit? So to my knowledge to question 3 also is a NO. Also where did you get your 7K from? Cameron
  23. might make this one. What direction you going but as if you start off in brisbane go around moutain then exit at wivenhoe dam ill meet at dam as I'm in Ipswich so mm don't have much fuel or cash ot fill tank to go to asply then back home country way so a map or dirrection of the cruise way appreciated?? Cameron
  24. I know he was asking auto to manual but hey jsut though id add i did motor to so.... And yes auto to manual you will need to remove pedal box the lot so if I was him keep looking for manual KE70 now just to save time ona change and let the auto for some one who needs a daily get around town car..lol Cameron
  25. pozman Just read your reply you got in before me. If the switch is always on this could hold a relay off then when pushed relay activates flows power so if you ask me wire the switch to a BIG relay and into starter motor :hmm: Cameron
