Thanks for the tip about kent! shipping is reasonalbe but I'm just not sure if i want the T125 or T126... ill be getting some stiffer valve springs aswell, iv heard you need to machine down the rocker towers equal amount of how much higher lift your cam has..? what you guys think? Cam Regind is 236 AUD and valve springs is 198AUD... i think this is a fair price compared to the Norwagian prices :) using your pic for illustration :)
-
ahhh awesome! i did not know of Kent cams, they are located in UK? :o if so ill send them an email and ask them hom much they want for a cam regrind/lifter regrind and a set of spring :) engine out taking the cam out cam and lifters this make life a lot easier! a lfit in the roof that moves left and right on a beam that moves along the roof of the workshop :) engine bay needs a lot fo cleaning and thinking to hide things and get it nice :) then some paint :)

yeah i know, I'm going to take the A/F reader from my carina and weld on then buy a new meter :) do i want it to run 14.7 all the way or do i want it to richen out when hit the throttle at mid to high rpm? atleast thats what i did with my brothers car.. when the load is low it gets 14.7 and leaner, but when he hits the pedal it gets 13 or richer all the way til he got full boost then i set it to 11.5... but i don't know if this is the case with N/A cars? and since i got carbs i obviusly can't make it lean when I'm not so hard with the gas pedal then rich when i want.. :( but do i want the A/F ratio to be at 14.7 all the way to the top? :) Anyways i decided to make a tool to get the pulley wheel of.. welded to a long rod Made 2 holes in it and then used 2 M6 bolts to go into the holes in the wheel :) i can't get the sump far enough down so i think I'm going to take the engine out, then clean up the underside of the bonnet and the engine bay and paint it white, clean up the wiring a bit, clean/paint the engine block red again, and fix it up so its nice looking :) i have to take it out to change the sump gasket cause i tink i destroyed it :( i even took off the engine mount :) but the bolts remaining is behind the oil filter
-
18 to 1!? i would think that is a bit lean :P anyways had a couppel of hours in the shed :) made a heat sheild, hat to take what i found so therfore the angel cut in it :P fits nice and is there is a lekage it would nto hit the exhaust :) float bowls almost horrizontal :) looked at my cylinders , they look good( i think) :) tried getting the cam cover off but i could not get the pulley wheel off...? even tried a powerarm then crank the engine... discovered i have an awesome frame number and here is why extracotrs isn't really tempting.. i just can't get tired of watching this !

yeah, i can both wrap the manifold and the silicone hoses ;) got meeters of exhaust wrap left over from the snowmobiles :) The 2t manifold that someone made for my ta60 probly took like 2 hours to make... its soooo simple you can make everything yourself, even a turbo manifold is possible if you take your time... This is the fun part, not knowing how tings are going to go ,and not know how you're going to do it, hours after hours of thinking :) I hope you where driving hard to get the extractors to turn red? :o
-
yeah, iv been thinking about making a plate between the carb and extractor since i hav noticed everyone has one.. ohhh... ill turn on the fan the next time I'm welding galvanized shit, i freaking hate it anyways :P ahhh filler is a genius idea! thanks! how hot do a inlet manifold get? is it so cold that i can use whatever i want? :) like silicone or something? :)
-
naah i don't want to make my own. ill just re-deseign one :) some time Massive thanks to you Altezzaclub for all this help and hopefully a cam! this would not have been done without you!!! anyways.. Keep in mind I'm no welder... i'v had a 10 min guid by graddad but nothing more... + been rust welding all this Freaking car and build myself a "gocart" but i did not learn so much :P started welding them up and yeah, the middle pipe is freaking galvanized!!! I am never going to weld anything galvanized again! must be free flowing when you can see out where the valve sits :) perfect some small adjustments and i got them like 3-4cm further back :D moooar space room here aswell as all of you know, if you cut a pipe at an angle it looks like an egg afterwards... so my pipes did not fit my holes... you can see the edge there.. a huge air block.. all 4 had these.. welded a bit inside there then grinded it back down a bit more cleaning up and they are perfect! lets just hope this is air proof... i just could not fit the weldder in between them so i had to do it this getto way..
-
yeah, the plan is to make them a bit shorter and maybe try to make a airfilter box or ill go quad filter :) had go get my head of the math exam so figured ut this was the best way :P my plan with the exhaust hole is soak the bolts in rust remover for a coupple of days, then try to weld a bit larger nut to it and try to undo it.. if that doesent work ill be testing out your brillliant idea! Yeah LHD Corolla with k enigine is a pain in the arse! inlet, exhaust, starter brake and steering all in the same place, for e.g a turbo setup i think you would have to uppright the engine.. :P yeah really keen on a set of extractors but the chance of them not fitting is HUUUGE.... when the summer comes arround and i can gather some more money ill look arround for some.. i know of a Finish company who makes them for LHD cars :) EDIT: How many HP do you guys think this engine will produce? should i invest in a hotter cam+ stiffer springs when I'm at it?
-
Whoho! i just fell in love with the Bigport head! yeah i need to get hold of stuff to measure propperly this time! yeah the manifold is for sale :) anyways, original carb looks small.. Needs some porting Snapped all fraking bolts NEEEDS LOOOOTS OF PORTING Very rough Used a couppel of hours trying to match everything and get it "free flowing".. have to weld it up porpperly, iv just welded a bit here and there in case i had to take it apart... and it ended up very close to my brake pump... ill try to get it further back :) i love this!
-
Ahh ill do some math, if i end up with the same as you ill shave off about 0.75 then :) you sure about the carbs sitting horizontally? iv seen severals that got bike carbs at 45 degrees etc.. but ill do some research on my carbs to find out :) yeah a Air/Fuel meter is a must! I'm familiar with that, i tuned my brothers S13( ca18det, Forged rods, ported head, 2x exhaust cams, 1000cc injectors( for future e85) t28 turbo, 2,5" exhaust, front mounted intercooler and z32 air mass meter and oil cooler) i we made over 300hp judging by the amout of force pushung you back in the seat even at 150km/h.. Tuned it with NisTune and a air/fuel meter.. I know a carb car is worse but i is possible :) the carbs sould be good, iv driven them 250kms on the fields :) pulls strong all the way from idle to valve float on the 2tc :) had to stop the madness cause i broke the T50 :) soo I'm parting out the TA60 and hoping to put a overhauled drivetrain in my other ke20 one day :) anyways here is a video, carbs sould be good, if not ill get some help by dad who knows Mikunis to rebuild them :) he also thinks he got the stuff i need, jets etc :) iv got some experience with my moped :) bought a 20$ china carb.. never should have done that :P
-
anyways, dragged my Carina home from the Fields today But the 1965 Volvo Buster 400 just could not do it anyways, heres my 1100 GSX-R carbs, Mikuni Flatslids anyones who knows how big they are? ill only need to make manifolds to suits the K serie engines you guys think theese will work with my 1,2? Dad used to sell Arctic-cat snowmobiles( with Suzuki engines) so he got loads of Mikuni stuff lying arrund :)
-
ahhh thanks for the numbers! but mine is a 3k flat piston... the numbers from a 4k would not be correct due to larger bore? or will it the 27ml probly is not right, but i could not find anything to meassure with... i just had a thiny to suck it out of the head with--> i probly did not get all of the kero out of the head--> then i put it in a glass and i probly did not get all of the kero out of the sucker thingy.... I'm not sure i got the time to go to the workshop today since i got a math exam thingy tomorow :(
-
i tred my best... i filled it up with kerosene then sucked it up with a thingy and put in in a glass and brough it home.. measured 27milli liters... forgot to do the paper thingy... :( after i did that i removed all the valves.. cleaning up and i did widen them a bit... mostly the exhausts cleaned up the "fine" grinding paste.. Re-Grinding = done the manifold is almost stright, its just a little bit off... here is a pic of when i checked the ML of the chamber.. its a little bit higher on one side ... so i think 27ml is a bit under what it really is, i migh have spilled while getting it out there aswell? i don't know? now how much do you thing i should shave off. i think the head is orignal..?

Thanks for the tips! ahhh yeah , i understand what you mean with the valve stem seals! actualy, dad got a Volvo B36 V8 from a 1956 truck s in a 50 series Crown, that did not have seals at all... :P I'v already got a porting tool and tools to Re-grind valves ;) iv been doing Honda Moped motors since i was 13 :P i took a quick look at the manifold, it looked stright but ill find something 100% stright and test, i'v seen a few of those twisted ones :P my brother got that problem in his Crown... I'v been looking for some carbs/ manifolds but i just can't find any, a set of 3k-b carbs would be perfect, or 1 twin weber/solex.... i want it to be somewhat fuel economical aswell, due to the gas cosing 2.90AUD/Liter over here...!! and this is going to be a car I'm going to use almost daily... and i have to measure the cc tomorow... dunno how but I'm gonna try :P
-
anyways... as you may have noticed i'v started to strip down my motor a bit.. cleaning up going to sand this down to remove the deep scratches... :) rockers and pins got to remove 2 valves before i had to go no valve seals? also had the pleasure of seeing 2 deers on my way home :)

Neeeedd help! took my head off 2 mins ago! what to do with the water??!?!?!
-
hmmm.. i live at about 2000+ feet above aswell, but anything a touch hotter than the Crow cam and I'm pleased, this is going to be used as a daily in the summer time so i can have anything extreme and still want sooome fuel ecconomy.. and something that would tear up the gravel and climb the hills a bit better :) you know more about this than me, so if you think a cam is nice for me it probly is ;) anything anything with 275++ dur and 0.4lift is good for me :) I'll PM you now :)
-
the cam idea sounds awesome!! how much you want for the whole job + stock cam and followers? :) ill pay you before you set of if you want to do this! The carreet driv is going to be sten, but its no traffic jams here or nothing, just empty montain roads :D so I'm thinking 280 and 0,4" lift as you said, if the stock carb would handle that? i know of a Company in Finland who makes extracotrs for the KP/KE... i think that may turn out cheaper than one from australia, but iv also talked to David Riiber , Fredric Aasbø's mechanic, he has been building some ke70's hes unding the stock extractors, heavy dury srpings, one 45mm sidedraf weber, cam and shved head :) he got 80-90hp... so I'm thinking its not that big of a deal.. + I'm not shure a Australian RHD extractor would fit a LHD car ... :) EDIT: looking at your cam thingy i can't find any with 280 dur and 0.4" lift or under... but the Crow cam looks intresting , the Wade 259A is alsmost identical, but it got lower duration at 0.50"...so its milder?

Thanks, i think i can get hold of a gasket kit, But Cams ( engine parts for K series in gneral) is impossible to find over here, even harder is a hot cam.... been looking arround for a hot cam on rollaclub but i have not found any, regrinding a cam here is like 400 dollars so I'm not even considering regrinding my stock... if i could get hold of a hot cam for cheap i will be doing this for sure! I got a friend in a mechanical school that can shave the head for free, ill ask him about the flywheel aswell.. 10-15thou = 0.3mm ish? octane is not a problem, i usally run my bikes on 98, i could get hold of 99 aswell :) we only get 95-98-99 over here :) shout out if you got a "Hot" Cam laying arround that you don't need :)
-
I'v ran into a bit of a problem, one of the exhaust bolts is missing, i can't get anything to fit, not even a threading tool,so i have to make a drill fit so i can dril it out then thread it and use a M10 bolt :) i can't drill it where it sits, i tried to the manifold off the head but i can't reach the all the bolts and i stripped one aswell... :( .. so i got 2 options.. i could take the engine out then drill it, or i could take the head off and then hopefully port it a bit (just clean it up and polish the exhaust), regrind the valveseats and maybe shave off the head a tad... but my question is, can i reuse the head gasket? i know i should get a cam and carb aswell, but i really don't have money right now... I don't need to re-tune it if i shave the head? what do you guys think i should do?
-
turns out they are plated with aluminium
-
Bought a new gasket today, going to try to swap it tomorow :) but i'v ran into a problem, i don't have more money to spend on this car and i got rims that i don't like.. but iv seen a few polished ones.. but how the hell do you polish the center of plastic? :o here is mine
-
Corollaproblems... car wont fit a normal lift... unbolted the bar that holds the gearbox... after half and hour struggle trying to fit something under the box i decided to use a strap.. crappy welding but i can't do anything bettery laying on my belly... then i managed to put in the gasket the wrong way.... fuuu** ill check if the Toyota dealership have any :) the manifold is also missing a bolt? the exhaust is bolted on with 2... can't find any botl that fits the hole...

Hey, bought a TA60 last week, driven it kinda hard today all of a sudden i lost my 3rd gear, nothing there, if i try to put it in 4th or 5th it sticks to that gear even tho i put it in netrual, it fixses itself if i drive a bit forward then put it in reverse... 1st and 2nd is all good parked the car as fast as i could afterwards... whats wrong? is it fixable ? :) -Tore
