  1. Haha yes he does mate. Normally i'm not there on weekends as the workshop is closed but if you see a burgundy vs commodore or one of my rolla's out the front knock on the door to see if i'm there! I'm going to do much the same with those fiddly things to fix on mine as well. Best of luck with the tasks ahead!
  2. Yes guys that is the stick on type of chrome moulding. I got it from Supercheap and it's about $20 for five meters and it was enough to do both sides of my coupe with a little left over. It's not too hard to apply and seems to be stuck on pretty damn well and is easy to clean behind. Also made some more progress today. Took the discs off so that they could be machined and obviously re-packed the bearings while i was at it and also got new bearing seals. Got some new Bendix pads for the front as some fuddy duddy fitted DB1086's instead of DB1088's. Also gave the calipers and and caliper brackets a quick coat of satin black. Today i also cleaned up the rear shoes and drums and readjusted the handbrake. Also painted the drums satin black. BIGGEST NEWS YET - i got the RWC today and i am heading off to Vicroads tomorrow morning to get her registered! :locked: Here are some pics...
  3. Can't wait.... especially to see what vehicles all these 'braggers' bring!
  4. Hey Josh. Another small update for you! Got some chrome guard moulding today and fitted around the window gutters. Also fitted a dashmat today as well. Here are some quick pics. Also next thing to do is redo the chrome locking strips in the front and rear windscreens. Before After Dashmat
  5. Hey Ben nice to see you and you're old man are getting stuck into yet another rolla. It seams we are both doing similar things at the moment! Great work and keep it up. I hope the transfer of plates works out for. Be sure to fill us in on some more details. Matt.
  6. Ahh thanks Jon, because i was looking at my sedan and then the hardtop and not only is the angle different but the dimensions slightly too. I'll have to hit that guy on ebay up for a set then. Roadworthy guy was too busy today so it'll have to wait for next week but i had enough time to give her a coat of carnauba wax. Check out that shine!
  7. Thanks Josh. Does anyone know of the best place (in Vic) to get rear venetians. Also will normal sedan ke30/55 venetians fit on this car?
  8. I heard on the grape vine that this beast was finally on the road. Congratulations mate and a top job you did. Post up some pics of the interior when you get a chance as it didn't have one when i saw it. Once again well done. Matt.
  9. Haha nice call mate.
  10. Thanks for the feedback guys. I fitted the new shackle bushes today and also nutted out the reverse light problem which ended up being the fuse for the demister! Also put a new globe in the t-bar display. Tomorrow i should be heading off to my roadworthy guy and see how good i have actually made her! Matt.
  11. I wish. My old man got to 'test drive' it, at least i got to hear it rev. Got nothing on the ke55s mate!
  12. Hahaha Adam. Well they certainly don't float my boat! The car needs to be rescued people.
  13. Made some more progress today. Serviced the old girl and fitted a new air filter. Unfortunately didn't get around to machining the front discs. But instead today cleaned the underneath of the car and repainted the stone tray. Also pulled out the rear shackle rubber bushes as they are perished and new ones are coming tomorrow :) Here are some shots for you all. - Painting the stone tray - Cleaned up undercarriage - Freshly painted stone tray and sump - Ferrari's and rolla's.. doesn't get much better than this ladies and gents
  14. I hunted this one down in the back streets of Brunswick today. Seems to be exactly the same as the one i scored (except for the difference in colour) as it is a 1980 cs hard top. From what i have heard on the grape vine supposedly an emo chick drives it which is a shame.
  15. Today's progress included spraying of the bottom sills where the rust repairs were done. Also I tightened up those annoying anti-theft screws on the ignition barrel thing as they were all loose and also put some new plugs in her and checked that the points and leads were all good. Tomorrow should include oil and filter change and machining of the front discs. Then we should be pretty much set for a RWC and a pit check for rego :) Here's a shot from at work today! Old school FTW!
  16. Thanks mate, Although i'm not keeping the green and white plates you'd be happy to know i'm at least going to go with the original number plate frames! Got something a little custom in mind for the plates :P **EDIT** Just ordered the plates now!
  17. Woah! You have too much information there my friend. I must have a leak somewhere in the system hahahaha. Were you planning to snap this one up from the old man in Airport West?
  18. Here are some piccies from a weekend of hard work on her. SATURDAY - Seats were a little worse than originally expected - Getting naked inside! (Ignore the funny yellow bits on the carpet I think it was the light) - Just for kicks! (this set up is going into my other rolla :P) - Engine bay all degreased - The old man doing some bog work ( I had to let him do something hey?) SUNDAY - Seats are ready to go back in after a nice wet/dry vacuum session - Wheel trims before a 'nice' rubbing with steel wool and Autosol. - Rims came up a treat after stripping and fully preparing them for many coats of paint Today i also restored the original center caps which needed to be panel beated first then re-painted. Wet/dry vacuum of the carpets and getting all the grime off the inside of the car. Also steel-wooled/Autosol'd the bumpers and chrome trims and a full cut and polish of the beast. - How she sits after a weekend of work Hope you guys enjoy seeing the progress. Matt.
  19. As for your enquiry Jon i found out that it was built in the fourth month of 1980. Got some progress pics from yeasterday and today that i'll put up now. :P
  20. I'm excited!
  21. Haha she's not too bad considering she spent the last 2 years sitting in a scrap yard! But the pictures make her look a hell of a lot better than she is in real life. I'm intending on cleaning up the original number plate frames but the green and white plates will be going up on the garage wall. Replacing them will be some black and white items. Thanks Josh, I have some other ideas in the pipeline but the driveline will much stay the same as it is now (if not a little cleaner). Plans are to enjoy it over the summer and then see where it leads to from there. Matt.
  22. Hey JP count me in for the Saturday and Sunday of the weekend. I'll be coming in the new beast! Also send me a Pm with the amounts i need to deposit into your account. Thanks Matt.
  23. I nulled! Never been to any of these places. Oh and Jarad and dF count me in!
  24. Thanks Chris. Let me know if you have a good dashpad and/or a genuine left rear mudflap. Nope. This one has never been advertised and was significantly cheaper :D Thanks Jon. She's got some rust as you can now see thanks to some more pics. It should be fixed properly eventuallly but it ill be copping some bog for now so i can get her on the road. Have come up with a general plan of attack on this beast which i am now calling "NANNA '55". Plans are obviously rego first then some additions such as Cream/beige sheepskin covers, knitted woolen blanket on parcel shelf, venetians, front sun visor, dash mat, whitewalls and i have some wheels lined up that are a touch different that some of you may find interesting  Updates will follow after a solid weekend of hard work. Matt.
  25. We'll as i already have a very clean KE30 weekender i thought it might be time to replace the daily 'commonwhore' with a real car. The old man and I found this 1980 KE55S CS hardtop via word of mouth and snapped it up. Wasn't running and had been sitting for two years. A couple minutes later after pulling apart the fuel pump, fitting a new fuel filter and hose, topping up some trans fluid and fitting a new battery she was purring like a beast! BASIC DETAILS 4K 3spd slushbox (trimatic :D ) Light blue Cloth seats which appear to be in ok condition under those hideous seat covers and that's about it for now. Plans are to get her on the road and then get her looking close to factory finish but a little bit better :jamie: Step 1 is a huge cleanup this weekend! Enjoy the pics of the good and the bad points. More to come tomorrow. ** EDIT** Here are the rest of the 'before' shots before i get stuck into her today!
