Great to hear some people showed. Not great to hear about this copper. It's a shame that some of them are like this whereas some just love to have a good honest chat about your car. But you get that everywhere unfortunately.

So you don't think the ratios in a W56 are so bad that they can't be helped by changing the diff ratio? Thanks for your help BTW.

Thanks for the comments and opinions guys. The reason for my choice of w56 is exactly as defunkt said. It will come with the K-W bellhousing on it. Also i can combat the ratios (albeit only a little) by changing the diff ratio. If it is still unsuited i will mostly end up looking for a W57/58 down the track. But seriously anything will be an improvement over the 4 speed i have been running over the last couple of months. Cuzzo i am also wide open to more suggestions. Matt. [EDIT] Evan it was only a matter of time before a diff or another gearbox let go, with the torque the 7K is making over a stock 3K only a couple of nasty launches wont prolong the life of the 31 year old diff.

A sort of non-update update if you like. Blew the diff on the weekend unfortunately. This means no more looking for old school wheels and now started hunting for an r31 skyline diff (to be shortened and fitted with lsd) and townace w56 gearbox (means converting to a hydraulic clutch). Let the hunting, spending and customising begin/continue. Matt.

unfortunately now wont be able to make the re-run either. Blew the diff in the '30 on the weekend. Which will now provoke the second and final stage of drivetrain upgrades :lolcry:

Not a rolla but worthy of addition none the less... Spotted Hulk Hogan (i kid you not) heading in the opposite direction on the western ring road at about 12:30 this arvo. He was driving a light blue convertible 70's Corvette.
