  1. I am definitely in please include me. Could I bring a mate with an AE92 20 valve.
  2. Come on guys, this will be the first cruise for me if it happens, like rollaboy said we can't give up now. I myself don't know any people around my way that own old rollas. We need more numbers.
  3. I LOVE THIS IDEA HENCE THE REASON FOR A HELL OF ALOT OF CAPITAL LETTERS! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Very much agree with this decision. You have no idea how much it would actually mean to me if I was actually included in a cruise. I have never been on a cruise in my car and have been dying to do so since I have owned it. I am most definitely in. Please reply and let Nathan know soon. I AM IN NATHAN! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ;) :hmm: :y: :y: :)
  4. Yeah just using the laser engine mounts but I had to custom fabricate my own mounts to suit the block and the rubber mount. Little bit of trial and error, but also helps if you know how to weld. I am a sheetmetal fabricator so that always helps. On that note I have been working on a pretty cool thing for my car but can't show you guys till finished.
  5. At the moment no. I should be getting a few more parts towards the conversion very soon. Don't know what first yet, but when i get the stuff I will post up pics.
  6. Wow I have never heard such an opinion on a steering wheel, yet it sorta makes sense. The only problem is that I really like that style because it kind of keeps with the old school look. I don't really want one of those steering wheels that you buy from like autobarn or supercheap. If I was to buy another steering wheel it would have to be a Nardi one, and I just ain't got the money for that.
  7. Yes it is mig welding. You should know that. Yeah rims are hard to find, gotta get them custom made. I know a place called retro wheels that makes simmon copies for $575 a rim with no tyres. :y:
  8. So I did some more work on my conversion today and all went well with the other engine mount. Turned out awesome and the engine sits low and as far back as possible. When I just look at the engine in the old rolla's engine bay I ask my self why the japs couldn't be that little bit smarter back in the old days and just bring out the old KE's with the 4age. It was meant to be. :y:
  9. Don't know yet. Still tossing up between a few choices, Hoppers Stoppers kit, or some pintara struts and brakes.
  10. I think the engine has just enough room to fit everything at the back. Overall it is about a 20mm clearance. I also tried to make that as minimal as possible. The bell housing and clutch fork set me back about $680. A fair bit but a good price to pay considering there are still plenty of celica boxes to be collected and stored for future usage.
  11. Thanks heaps dude. I want to leave it like that. Do you know if that is illegal.
  12. Alrighty then. AGES back I mentioned that I was going to begin a 4age conversion to my KE55. Well I have actually started the conversion. And believe it or not I have been pulling my hair out every night that I go to sleep. So many things to think about. Any way here is list of what I have got so far. Pintara diff with 4.11 gears adn disc brakes. I have already ground back all of the link brackets and coil seats. 4AGE of course, port and polished head, adj. cam gears. Custom bell housing to suit a celica 5 speed box Engine mounts from a ford laser. Making custom mounts to suit. A dummy car, so as to keep my car on the road. SAAS Bucket seat and racing harness. Well I have made one engine mount which is the drivers side, still to make the passenger side one. Once both engine mounts are done I will begin on the gearbox crossmember. I chose the Pintara diff (25 spline Borg Warner) because the ratios are suitable and it comes with disc brakes already. It also has the same stud pattern. All I have to do is shorten the diff and I will be purchasing a 4 pin lsd to suit aswell. The custom bell housing I sourced from Dellow Automotive who also supplied a clutch fork to make it come out the drivers side. This has probably so far been the best purchase, as when I bought it, it bolted on the engine and gearbox NO PROBLEMS! It was heaven, considering everything else is being custom made by me. The standard engine mounts I decided were a bit too awkward to use so I purchased ford laser engine mounts, primarily because they only had one stud out either side. Once I begun making the engine mount themselves it proved to be a lot easier. The dummy car I decided to get so that my car can stay on the road and continue driving until it is finished in the dummy car and then all I got to do is bolt it in. Yes it has no radiator support, but that is not going to hold me back. I will just do the cooling system in my car. The SAAS Bucket Seats and the Racing Harness I purchased to keep both driver and passenger secure and comfortable whilst I am thrashing around corners sensibly. In regards to where the engine sits in the engine bay, particularly for JC807 who is doing the KE20 conversion, mine sits really low but that's how I chose to do it so the the centre of gravity is lower which enhances handling. The following picture is exactly where it will sit according to the firewall. But then again I do not know about the differences between the KE20's and 55's with the cross members and firewalls. But that is where mine sits. The sump is in line with cross member perfectly. Hope you guys like it so far, I will keep you all updated as well as I possibly can.
  13. Ooops. Sorry guys don't know how I managed to post that twice. But yeah hope you guys don't mind me inviting a new member, but she got that rolla for a mad deal and it is in awesome nick. I will leave the rest to her to fill you in on the car.
  14. Hope you don't mind, but its my girlfriends car. I invited her onto the forum after she found the love in corolla's. She has plenty of plans for it but I just can't wait to see them all get done. I am sure she will keep you guys posted on the stuff she is doing

  16. Not bad! Like he said awesome for the price of a case. You gotta start somewhere. Everything has potential. It is just up to the owner to actually be serious about their project and actually do it. Lets hope to see this KE's progress.
  17. This is excellent and I am really in suspense every sentence that I read. It is great to see that you have time to do the conversion aswell as post up such awesome help like this. I have been working on my 16V 4AGE conversion in a KE55 for a couple of months now but I am using very different parts for the conversion such as a different diff, completely different struts and so on. There is plenty that I want to share with everyone but I want to get some pictures first. But thanks again for this great info. Can't wait to here more about it.
  18. Well I was sooooooooo close to buying the HSD coilovers that were for sale on Toymods for $650. They had 8kg/mm springs, camber adjustable tops and everything. But I missed out didn't I ! ! ! ! ! ! Still searching for stuff. Almost finished the rear, just waiting for the shocks and then I will be a happy man.
  19. I agree with Trev that braided lines make the pressure more direct. My mate just put them on his Trueno AE86 and it has made the biggest difference in pedal feel and performance. He can happily wait till the last second and apply the brakes and he will stop in definitely. Any thing from 0 - 70km/h the car will stop with a VERY short distance. Anything over that though they lock up and the arse end flicks out cause he has different pads on the rear. :P
  20. I don't actually know which car that I have been in was the fastest, but the ones I will definitely remember are: Mazda RX-7 Series 5 with a few minor mods VL Turbo, don't know what was done to this but it was crazy. It got wheel spin in third gear after the clutch slipped and grabbed again. Nissan Pintara Wagon with RB-20 conversion with HKS Turbo and few other small mods Nissan Silvia S-13 SR-20 DET All those cars were pretty damn exciting and accelerated with many G Forces. I had fun, but who doesn't when all the have ever owned was 4K powered KE Corollas.
  21. That is exactly what I want to do. Even with the standard motor I reckon it will be awesome to have a car that just wants to handle. Then with extra power to play with it will definitely make driving a whole new world for me. At the moment though just can't wait to finish the suspension. :P
  22. Thanks for all the help again guys. So with the shocks for the rear that you bought, Cuzzo, where did you buy them from, can you just purchase them from anywhere that deals with Koni.
  23. Some varied responses but very good information, thank you guys. Now the reason I want coilovers is because I do want to go to track days when I have the conversion done, and to me I feel that coilovers will be beneficial in such a matter. Now Redwarf, you said just get some stiff springs and shocks, but I havent been able to find anyone that will sell short stroke shocks for the front. That was my original idea, I had Allsprings lined up for their JUMBOZ springs reset to my height, and the leaves reset to my height. But then I found that noone sold short stroke shocks for the front of my car. To me these would be necessary for the front. Also I am not one of those people that want to get coilovers just so I have bragging rights with them. I want to use the technology to its full advantage. :jamie:
  24. Ok. Well then where do I start. I have a 4age, a pintara diff, halfway to getting a gearbox and am ready to begin the conversion. I want to do as much as I can with the car still drivable and roadworthy. I figured that the first thing that I can do would be the suspension and brake upgrade. This stuff can all be in the car, yet still with the standard 4k. I have been shopping around and looking at a few different ways in which to upgrade the front suspension. I hear that corona struts are common, or old celica struts. Now the decision that I have come to is this, which you may not all agree with. I want to keep my standard strut assembly exactly as is. I have got a few quotes from hoppers stoppers for a BIG brake upgrade. It is a straight bolt on procedure with absolutely no modifications to hub, strut etc. That is one plan that I am 100% sticking to. I don't need help with that, it is the suspension I need help with. Now for the suspension. As I said I want to keep everything standard. My idea was this. Buy any coilover suspension from any car and cut and shut a few components. I was going to cut basically the whole of my strut off, except the bottom area with all necessary bolt areas for LCA's, tie rod ends etc. Then effectively I would want to find some coilovers that have a smaller diameter than my original shock housings so that they fit snug inside when I cut it off. This will also make for a stronger build. Then I came to the idea that AE86 sprinter struts would possibly fit in, which means the coilovers for that car will also. :jamie: So who has experimented with such things as AE86 struts into a KE55 Corolla? Who knows of a good place to purchase second hand coilovers? Now my next problem is the rear suspension. I need new shocks. To my understanding short stroke shocks are good because when cornering hard, efectively you would get a bit of body roll, it stops the lowered springs from falling out of their position. So if I was to purchase short stroke shocks for the rear it would not really be worth it because the leaves can't really fall out, yet I still do want a set. So does anyone know of a company that makes super stiff short stroke shocks for the rear of a KE55? The leaves themselves I will be getting reset and possibly an extra one put in. Everyday that I drive my car I bounce around like I am on the wildest rapids. Even a rollercoaster feels more comfortable. My area is really dodgy for potholes and bumps. :y: Just this arvo I did a fairly intersting upgrade to the rear suspension of my KE55. I discovered the bouncing was due to sitting on the bumpstops. At Pick 'n' Payless I found some bump stops from a datto wagon, I drilled some holes in the plates that hold the standard bump stop in and put them in. It gave an extra 7mm clearance from the diff approx. It has made a huge difference. I guess that is a reason as to why I want short stroke shocks, because now the suspension can travel an extra 7mm. Where can I buy a high performance swaybar for the front and rear? I know that Whiteline do a front swaybar for the KE55 but I don't know about the rear swaybar. I know that this a lot of stuff but I have been stuck on these few topics for quite a while now. Any help with any of these topics would be much appreciated. Thanks heaps guys. :lolcry:
  25. Well again thankyou for everything guys but cause I was told it was bad I got rid of it so now I gotta find a t50 to suit the 4age so if anyone has one let me know pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease.
