  1. The D/Row refers to a double row chain. I don't think I ever seen a single row chain, on any of the numerous K series engines I've had over the years. I'm not even sure if the crankshaft is a little shorter, for early K series engines, that only had a single row chain; & therefore; presumably a narrower crank sprocket. No use asking A.I. to find out; as He/She was not around in those early days ! According to Google AI, who I just asked to verify, it was the other way around. K series engines started off with double row timing chains. Toyota, then decided to use a single row chain; but as there was no difference to the length of the crankshaft; most of us, have upgraded to double row, since. Please correct me, if I've assumed something here incorrectly. Cheers Banjo
  2. Hi Everyone ! Just interested to hear if anyone has purchased & fitted one of these timing chain kits, that are available here in Australia. K Series Timing Chain Refurb Kit Complete Seems very cheap, for a kit that has so many bits included ? Cheers Banjo
  3. Hi Daniel ! Nice to see You back; & that your "Go Anywhere" Toyota, is still going strong. Would be interested; in what the deepest water level crossing, You have accomplished successfully ? It's come a long way, since 2023. Cheers Banjo.
  4. Well that was short lived ! I don't know how A.I. works, but it was if it read my post, & then found a video to dispel my comment, about Toyota engines not making the 13 worst engines listing; then sent me the link. Now this is a long video. It is however, well made; & very informative; & I suggest seeing it, right through to the end. I came away, after watching it totally; glad that K Series engines are so simple; & do not involve the massive over complication of modern engine design. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QKr9qIgIEM So just enjoy; without the rejoice. Cheers Banjo
  5. I came across this video this morning. A similar video, is made for other locations in the world, like the UK. However, this one is specifically aimed at audiences, here in Australia, & uses Australian towns & cities names throughout. It is pretty damning, of the way the motor industry these days is run, where; design, is basically; to get the vehicle through the "warranty period". However; that is not really the reason I'm posting the link here. It is the joy, that the Toyota brand name gets; not a single mention at all. Not one of the engines mentioned; be they, of European; Asian; or AUS origin; wears a Toyota badge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqU2I2wy2KI Enjoy & rejoice. Cheers Banjo
  6. Have a look at this post by Altezzaclub, way back, which has a couple of pics of the type of diffs. The diffs with a removable rear cover were Borg Warner models, from my memory, & were fitted to Australian assembled model Corollas. The diff, with no access cover at the rear were on fully imported models, from Japan, I believe. Whether the tail shaft has to be longer or shorter, depends on which gearbox You are swapping into your Rolla. Somewhere I did a post years ago, where I lined up several different gearboxes on the garage floor, indication what their overall lengths were. I'll go take a look. Cheers Banjo
  7. If You go into Activity on the main menue, & search "tailshaft", you will be offered numerous threads on this subject. Here is a link, to one of my own replies, to someone; with the same query; back in 2018. https://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/74224-box-shaft-diff-compatibility/#comment-715920 Hope that assists. Cheers Banjo
  8. Look what else I was offered on ebay ! Cheers Banjo
  9. Came across this today, on ebay. Yannal O.E.M (?) product. Ha Ha Ha. The front crankshaft oil seal costs Aussie $ 169.00, with free delivery. Oh thank you Yannalparts. However, directly below this ad on ebay, is the "complete gasket set" for a 5K engine; at around $7-$8 cheaper . . . . . . . . . . . . . . & it includes a front crankshaft oil seal ! Hope no one on here has ever used these parts. What a rip-off ! Beware ! Cheers Banjo
  10. With the motor media almost completely overwhelmed, by talk & discussion about EVs; it is always a treat to read the news;; & read a story today, about an "olde skool" Corolla. Olde Corolla, Does the Gibb River Road in Style Full Marks Jonny Charles ! On top of that, He serves coffee to other travellers & calls his on wheels coffee outlet; "Cafe Corolla" https://www.facebook.com/10newsplus/videos/meet-the-man-driving-a-café-in-a-corolla-around-australia-10-news/1047960244629879/ Cafe Corolla gets to Mt Hart 💪🇦🇺 | Jonny Charles | Facebook https://www.facebook.com/josh.ball.56679/videos/jonny-flying-through-the-gibb-river-road-in-a-toyota-carolla-so-stoked-to-have-r/1424096706406376/ We salute You, Jonny Charles ! 13. Yeah ! Very much for "show only", & quite a few things needed before it heads off to it's destination, as Taz mentioned. Hmmm ! Interesting mounting of the four (4) C.O.P.s. They look like Denso style COPs.. I can assure you they do not sit that low in the spark plug tubes; unless they have been cut down in length. If they are, Denso COPs, then it is for show, as the primary & secondary coils are wound on top of each other, down the long tubular section of the COP, which pokes down the spark plug well in the head. The only COP type that you could use is a type that has the coils in the head of the dumb COP; & nothing but a long spring in the tubular section. I've just recently given away the "intelligent" COPs, as they combine the chassis ground connection for both the +V trigger signal return; & the coil charging +12V chassis ground return. I've just done some tests on a Ford Falcon BA series "dumb" COP, which has no ignition or smarts in it at all. It has just a primary & secondary coils in the "head section", which is taller than your average COP; as depicted in the photo below. The stork on the BA series Ford COPs, contains just a long spring to transfer the HT voltage to the spark plug. Actually, the Ford BA series COP could be shortened so it just stuck out of the spark plug well, like those in the "engine bay" photo above. Might have to give that a try. The mounting rod looks really simple, with four "pads" welded on to secure the COP hold down bolt. P.S. These BA Series Ford dumb COPs, really pack a punch. I've recently done some tests on one, & is packs a real punch, & charges up to 12 amperes, in just 4-5 m/sec. Cheers Banjo

  15. I do it for the same reason. Quite often, when I ask Google A.I. to research something, about olde Corollas; it will find the answer I need, & list on the RHS; all the websites it has visited & searched, to obtain the answer. www.rollaclub.com, is often amongst the listed sites. In fact, I just asked Google A.I. which are the best websites, & rollaclub.com, was listed first, & right at the top. Cheers Banjo
