  1. fastest car i have been in was an RB26DET GT3540 powered R31 coupe 325kw atrw. was on the front cover of zoom a few years back (immaculate bright red paint). my best mate saw it in the trading post and proccedeed to hand over the required 22k. only took him 9 months to write the car off into a ditch. we really should have gotten a taxi that night lol. motor is currently being jammed in an s13.... FUN!!! fastest and stupidest car i have driven would be my ca18det ke20. stock front brakes cigweld locker and still fryin them up the road in the third. speed never really to looked to scared but 200kph is not out of the question.
  2. sweet tuesday the 27th at 7pm i`ll try to make it.
  3. hey all just noticed this section just thought i`d make an introduction. i`m tristan live out in gungetto ( gunghalin lol ) i have a little ke20 coupe with a ca18det. its my project car and has consumed alot of my money. i am a 3rd year fitter and machinist i like the three b`s beer boobs and burnouts. if you feel like havin a look at the car or want to know anythin it is up in the rides and projects under ca18det ke20. anyhow thats about it if there are any meets or stuff just let me know and i`ll try to come and be part of the community.
  4. Hi all have been doing a bit of research and hunting around for brake solutions for early model rollas. there are a few options involving strut changes and lca mods. whilst these may suit some people i got in touch with a few engineering joints in regards to custom hubs. Hoppers Stoppers in melbourne were the best as they do a full bolt in kit for all the the early rollas, celicas and corona`s. this is my preffered option as the is no f@#king around with struts and lca`s. here`s the specs "We do a bolt on kit for the front of KE 20 the which adapts 290 by 28 AU3 Ford vented rotors and AU3 twin piston calipers to the std strut/stub axle. Miinimum 15 inch wheels, and 4 or 5 stud can all be catered for. 290 mm Kits are $1200 with smooth rotors $1300 slotted and $1350 drilled and slotted. This price includes ADR7 rubber hoses, add $70 a pair for ADR7 approved Braided. This gets the whole package, new DBA rotors, Twin piston PBR calipers, pads, hubs, bearings, seals, grease caps, bracket, spacers and hoses all totally bolt on with no mods, Calipers come red, black yellow or alloy all same price. You will also need to adapt a 1 inch tandem master cylinder and if not already fitteed get a booster , we can do a master for $220 and booster for $280." here are the details 9 Nevada Crt. 5. tell me about it mini spools are 100% fun. the car isnt laggy at all, hits boost about 3000rpm the inlet path is fairly direct and not very long compared to say a silvia or skyline and with the bigger cooler piping it makes up for the cooler.
  6. the r31 borgwarner lsd is very expensive. i went for an openwheeler with an spool as including the shortening and a rebuilt centre with spool and gettin the stud pattern changed i paid $1050 installed and engineered. paid 150 for the diff from the wreckers.
  7. because the ke20 is so small it is neccesary to shorten both sides. some other cars you don't have to due to the uneven axle arraingment of that particular borgwarner. the advantage of the 180 intruments is all the wiring is still there from the halfcut so you don't have to stuff around with anythin just put them in and as far as the computer knows its still in an 180sx. i`m gettin the diff done at M&A engineering in canberra who specilize in diff conversions and any sort of automotive fabrication/engineering. i havent heard about the ford lsd but i was led to believe that the lsd centre was a relative of the borgwarner vl, i may be wrong lol. for the extra money i didnt see the piont of gettin an lsd because in an 820kg car a mini spool will last longer and due to the extra power and low weight and it wont twist the axles as it wont recieve much load before it breaks traction; yay ;). the paint is just a backyard job we did for the time being looks good in the sunlight as its got a bit of mettalic flake through it but when i have the cash and get the front brakes sorted i would like to strip the car back to metal and give it a good quality paint job.
  8. Hey all this is my puple baby. ca18 det powered ke20 coupe. the car is running at the moment was driving but is just about to go off the road for a r31 skyline brogwarner diff conversion, going to run 3.9 gears and a mini spool. the car has race seats, 15inch simmons usues the 180sx dash with lots of autometer gauges. big pwr cooler still uses the ke20 radiator with the 180 thermo fan, going to uprgrade but works well at the moment. saving money and looking into brake upgrades. will keep you posted on further devolpoments.
  9. Hey just noticed the subject of diffs. i have a ke20 coupe withh a ca18det and at first i was just running the standard diff. in 3 and a half months i destroyed 2 axles and one centre welded it up and trashed it again. this was with a bit of aggressive driving but who wouldnt drive a ca18 ke20 hard lol. i`m currently in the proccess of getting an r31 skyline borgwarner shortened and installed. these are a great choice because apart from the shilouette lsd`s they all have a 3.9 ratio factory (3.5 for the lsd). this means u just get a mini spool and don't have to pay for new gears. also they are a disc rear 230mm i think.
  10. very valid point it would be cheaper and easier to use r31 struts. i am running a set of 15 inch simmons on the car atm so i guess they will have to go as the pcd will change and propbably need 16`s to fit the brakes, bit of a shame there nice wheels. i would most likely use 280mm disc and gtst 4 spots with s12 hubs and the datsport 280mm discs. thanks for that i will get in touch in the next few days and get u some pics of the engine, engine bay ,mounts for motor gearbox, and anything else.
  11. this S13 coil over conversion sounds like the goods. i havent spared 2 much expense yet and don't really want 2 on perhaps the most important aspect of the car. bananaman have you got 2 thinking about brake boosters or anything like that? also what cost have u incurred for parts allready. price isnt that much of an issue i just would like 2 know before i start. i would be happy to trade any pics or info you need for any info on your conversion. i just have to get a digi camera and i will be in buisness. :)
  12. Hi all. Been looking all over the internet for any concrete information about brake upgrades for early model corolla`s. i am the proud owner of a purple KE20 coupe with a ca18det. at the moment the car goes great but the braking capacity leaves more 2 be desired. i am looking for a serious braking solution as i am a member of the act hill climb club and intend 2 take her out and give it a rap. anyway any information would be greatly appreciated. Ps will post pics in the rides section just need 2 borrow a digital camera.
