  1. how did he squeze 17s on the front? my 15 inch simmons are close to hitting the struts.
  2. the ra23 t series diffs are drum arent they? i was after a disc rear end. i don't want to run flares so i would have to shorten the diff which would blow the cost out a bit. it would be a fairly cheap option if you were happy with having flares.
  3. it depends what your after really. do you want a nice clean paint job for your streeter / thrasher? or are you leaning towards having a car that will hold its own at car shows. if you just plan to have a streeter then i would go the white with black bonnet easy to look after and looks mean. the camro paint colour is my personall choice but i like my cars with amazing paint and plenty of power. its personal preferance really.
  4. thats pimp as. i can envisage it getting a nice respray in the standard colur with some whitewalls and a venetian. nice purchase.
  5. heres the money bucket mx6. we had a love hate relationship. i once got 7 months out of it with out something breaking or shitting its self.
  6. it would apear that its a good value package. i just wanted to make sure somebody wasnt running a better value package before i hand over my hard earnt dough. i've been burnt before ( read EMS computer on mx6. big waste of money. a shit to tune didnt hold tune and fried two circut boards randomly).
  7. tell me about it. i got my first taste of turbo power in a spastik 89 mx6 turbo. 178kw at the front wheels. had custom manifold, cooler EMS computer and an hi flowed IHI off a rexy. was good fun but couldnt get the power to the ground and who wants power on understeer. plus i went through 1 motor 2 gearboxes 1 pair of driveshafts and a very expensive daikin clutch.
  8. mate i'll probably be getting it done by southern diffs in the act as my mate has had work done thre and said good things. 900 - 1000 for the cut down, install, respline, (needs resplinig as the axles will be getting shortened. also becuase of the light weight of the 20 he has no qaulms about reusing the stocko akle's and not using custom billets) and the stud pattern change. its around 500 for the lsd centre and i'm looking at 220 to 250 for the diff with everything from the wreckers. seems to be failry good value. i also got a similar qoute from m&a engineering in the act.
  9. have done a bit of searching and can't find anything on a live axle r180/200 which is a shame caus there tuff as nails. spoke to the diff bloke and he says that because the 20 is so light that the cone type lsd will be fine. he's done a couple of big power fj20 datsun 1200 utes that i have seen around canberra and only used the cone type and they havent come back yet. there is a kaaz mechanical lsd available for the borgwarner 78. for a 1 way its $1500. i gues i'll try the cone type and if i smash it too easily i can fork out the dough for the kaaz.
  10. I had pretty much figured that whatever diff i used it was going to need shortening. my gut feeling was i would end up going with the borgwarner. i'll look into the kaaz lsd a i would prefer a mechanical lsd but worsecase scenario i'lle use the cone type and see how it holds out. the borgwarner out of the r31 is the cheapest disc rear i have access to. my local wreckers qouted me 250. this included dics calipers and the handbrake cable. i was wondering what offerings nissan had. do they have any live axle diffs that take the r180 or r200 centres?
  11. Hey everybody just had a few questions to ask about what diffs / setups people were running in there rolla's as i'm about to fork out and get something for shortened for the rear of my ke20 1) what diff were people running? 2) is anyone running a diff with a true mechanical LSD? if so what housing are you using? 3) what reliability have you had from your setup? 4) what was your overall cost? 5) does anyone have anti tramp bars? or any information on their use? i've been looking into using a shortened r31 skyline borgwarner with an LSD centre. the car has a ca18det in it atm. i've got a microtech and was planning on upgrading the t25 to something like a gt28rs towards the end of the year so i want my rear to handle close to 180kw at the wheels and some hard launches. i've been qouted 800 - 900 for the shortening and installation (includes stud pattern change to 4x 110 and mini spooling of the centre). what are the lsd centres for this diff like? will it cope? i would like an lsd as the car is going to be engineered and registered. i don't particullarly want spend more than $1600. all your information and feedback would be appreciated as i want to make sure i get a diff setup that will suit my application and budget.
  12. i agree. i'd trade the majority of my organs to own it.
  13. fully agree with ca18rolla. i've blown 10k and am only half way there lol.
  14. well done. the carburettor gods were smiling last night lol
  15. or when you start pulling something apart only to realise that the dipshit before you stripped the thread on half the bolts and that you now have to spend half a day installing helicoil wire inserts. makes for an un pleasant monday.
  16. fortunate there weren't any passengers.
  17. yeah theres something about the wedge that just turn me on lol. an 86 with a formula atlantic 4age would be bulk fun. i reckon the 1960's toyota 2000gt would be cool. i'd have to stick a 1jz in it though lol.
  18. An immaculate candy apple red HR31 GTS-R powered by an OS Giken 3 litre with something considerable like a Garret GT42R strapped to the side. i could enjoy driving that. Or alternatively an Aston Martin DB9 i'm not fussed either way.
  19. it might be worth going out to a track day at your nearest venue and speaking to someone thats running a similar model in improved production or saloon cars and find what set up they are running. obviously their set up is for the track and yours wouldn't be as radical but theres no reason why you couldn't use this setup as base and that way when your setting your own car up with spring rates and damper combination you will know your taking steps in the right direction. i know theres a few corollas being run in the various classes in the CAMS NSW state championship.
  20. i've only been involved in one incedent. my freind was driving his gemini around a sharp 90 degree turn. he thought he that 85kmph would be a good speed. 45 or 50 would have been appropriate. anyway we cleaned up a storm drain then a telephone pole. we walked away uncathed but the car was awrite off. the crazyiest crash i have seen would be when my freind did an end to end job on his VN wagon. he had just bought the berlina wagon and was in the proccess of trasnferring the rego and getting it roadworthy. it had been knocked back because of a few small things and the fact that the rear panhard bushes were completely non existent. anyway 2 days later he's burning down this straight stretch of road that runs along the back of the suburbs and and at 190kmph the whole diff (slightly vague on the rear suspension setup of this car but somethin let go) just shifts and throws the car into the death wobbles then it goes end to end down the road for about a hundred and fifty metres. the diff got ripped out all the front suspension torn off and the only part off the car not sqaushed flat was a metre by metre cube around the driver. all themergency services couldnt believe that he only recieved minor cuts and bruises and a fractured right arm. i've got phots at home soomewhere i'll see if i can dig them out. the car looks like a pancake.
  21. thats a very nice setup. its making good power for its capacity.
  22. lol it has been said that i have no taste.
