  1. to be honest i would prefer to drive my corolla than an xy gt. at least it turns and brakes. whilst i acknowledge their part in the history of motor sport in Australia they just don't do it for me. also I'm sick of seeing thousands of originals and replicas at every car show bar auto salon. my favorite car from summernats wasn't any of the 100 falcons on display but an immaculate silver mistubishi sigma with a stupidly large garret turbo and fr17s. the xy has been over done as far as i'm concerned but thats just my opinion on the subject and seeing as we live in a democracy every one else is entitled to one as well.
  2. getting retested really is a good idea. i think I'd have to brush up on my reverse parallel parking though lo.
  3. I agree totally. i don't know what the people in charge of Toyota are thinking. they could chew a massive hole out of holden and fords sales. i suspect that all the directors are Camry driving pensioners. you know the type with tissues in floral boxes on there back parcel shelf.
  4. that makes me laugh. i hate xy gt's. i'm sick off going to car shows and seeing thousands of them.
  5. my driving style is fairly aggressive lol. i snapped 3 axles and munched a centre when the car was on the road last so i'm looking to upgrade to something a bit stronger so i don't have fix the rear end every 4 or 5 months.
  6. its powered by a ca18det so traction can be a problem. i'm putting either a r31 skyline borgwarner or hilux diff in in the next two months so it should hold up.
  7. 4th year fitter machinist, manual and CNC. do a bit of pump and hydraulics aswell. good trade to be in if you love your cars theres always scrap you can use to make goodies for your car ie crome gear knob abd hanbrake lever. and on the weekends i'm your freindly and somewhat sleazy bartender lol.
  8. this thing is mental. i think the guy has his own buisness as i think i remember seeing it on his website along with some other crazy cars. what a beast!!
  9. now that i have my licence back YAY!! any time apart from saturday works.
  10. i've actually got a set of 15 inch simmons so i should should be able to get tyres. a couple of wheels have gutter rash so i might get a new pair a bit wider. i was going to pump the gaurds a fair bit when it gets stripped back and sprayed this year so i should be able to squeze 235s on the back.
  11. pretty crazy stuff. machine shops wont be getting any buisness of these weapons lol
  12. suspected as much. my freind had a rip off gt3540 on his rb20 and it lasted 18months. unsure of the brand though. might have a scroll on the silvia forum and try to take advantafe of the epenis comp.
  13. i thought that they may have used a different crank for the gtr giving it its bigger displacement but used the same blocks to keep costs down. i may well be wrong through.
  14. hi boys and girls. just wondering if any one had any experience with those rip off turbos that are getting flogged on ebay. i know they can't be as good as a genuine garret but they are damn cheap. does anyone run or know of someone running one of these turbos? what is there life expectancy? not about to purchase anything at the moment but was curious as to what peoples experiences were.
  15. can't help with the conversion but i do know that you wont get it engineered if its turbo. a ca18det is on the limit and the calculation for rotaries is more than the 4cly. maybe if its only carbie you would get in passed.
  16. it was a bit exorbitant like 60 for the pair but it came with front bump stops as well.
  17. the shock absorber dust covers you can get from pedders as i just purchased a pair for my 20. can't help with the rest.
  18. i think they went to the v because they had all ready developed the vq35de for the 350z and infinity's so it was probably a cost thing. just use whats all ready there and add boost!
  19. havent got to the booster yet.(probably in the next 2 weeks.) they recommended a 1inch bore master and i purchased a universal one from hoppers that will fit. apparently this gives a good pedal feel. it looks might it just fit next to the ca18. with a 4age it should clear easily as the motor is a bit smaller if i'm not satisfied with the struts i can always convert them to coilovers. a bit of stuffing around i'm not interested in atm. but i'll see how it goes.
  20. i love the flying wedge!! so sharp so 80's so coool!!
  21. they are have to going to be carefull they don't let the show get to booner but neither do you want to watch crap like that car point sponsored thing.
  22. what sweet job it would be. i'd send a video away if it wasnt for my unconcious habit of swearing profusely. don't think they appreciate me droppings f's and c's all over the place lol.
  23. thanks for the info dude. i measured up the distance between the wheel faces when i had the car on the wheels minus diff and came up with 1300 so i was close. i mainly want to stick wider rubber for the drag strip as i'll be running the 205 simmons on the street. i reckon with the right offset wheel i'll be able to squeze some 235s in for the drags.
  24. hey dude i just finished installing the hoppers kit on my ke20 theres some photos up in the rides section under ca18det ke20 if ur interested.
  25. that would be awesome thanks for that. and coln72 my simmons have 205 and they look to leave plenty of room. thats what makes me suspect that it might be possible to squeze 225's or 235's in.
