hey guys does anyone know what width the original ke20 diff is? also what is the widest rubber anyone has managed to fit on then rear? i'm thinking of going to about 7 to 7.5 inches as i allready have 6 inch wide simmons and they seem to fit easily. what experiences do people have? also anyone that has shortened a diff from another veichle, what width did you get it shortened to? just gathering as much info as possible before i throw my $$$ around. PS my ke20 didnt come with a standard diff it came with an rx4 item that had been installed. this was ok with 12 and 13inch stockies but with the simmons the wheels hang out by about 1.5 - 2 inches looks fat but slightly impractical lol. have removed said diff and sat simmons in gaurds seem to chave good clearance width wise.

All right had to dig this post up has been a while since I've achieved anything in regards to the car. I blame my ex for that lol. basically I've bought some goodies for it compromising: Hoppers Stoppers 285mm twin piston brake kit. All new suspension bushes, ball joints tie rods, springs shocks and K Mac adjustable strut tops. I pretty much replaced every moving part and bush in the front end, then did the brake kit. been working on it gradually, has taken about 3 months but it was back together and rolling this morning. Quite proud of my handy work lol.

do it! it would be spastically fast not to mention the exhaust note (14,000rpm + boost = glorious noises)!! even if you never got registered and only used it on the track it would be sooo cool!!!

i think i will be in the same boat JC807. fortunately i was planning to remake my engine mounts anyway. and for a 150 I'm not to worried if i have to crack out the tig and do a bit of modifying.

lol this actually works well. my freind had a corona wagon with a dodgy starter. he always carried a hammer.

seems like your throwing a bit of money at it so you may as well get coilovers made for the front.
-
get one of the custom ones that JAR do. good price and made in OZ.
-
you should have grabbed it and zip tied it to your christmas tree. the ultimate decoration lol.

i'll accept that answer lol.

i totally agree. my best friend has owned two Silvia's s12 s13, an r31 coupe and a r32gtst. i've helped him do all sorts of stuff to them. And then you go on the Silvia forum and other such sites and you get these fools trying to tell you or the poor bloke asking the question the completely wrong or opposite answer. I've concluded that they are probably desk jockeys that don't actually do there own mechanical work. anyway upon closing my rant rollaclub is pretty damn good for a forum. by the way good luck with the 5k conversion.

i've heard the corona 4spds were a pretty tough box. why bother mucking around or are you fully intent on 5 gears

not sure if its just me but i swear i heard that engine bay screaming out ca18det ca18det. or it could have just been the ice lol

Sundays would be good as its the one day i tell my boss to F*#k off when he calls me up to work. Tuesday is ok but the whole after work thing is a bit of a pain, plus if theres a breakdown i have to attend (last Tuesday being a prime example).
-
you might also want to befriend a mechanic who is handy with a welder ie: make your own engine mounts, do all the fitting yourself. the more work you don't have to palm off the more you will save for other goodies.
-
fair enough. I think i'll just wait and see how it goes on the track and hill climb. i'm sure there are heaps of other things i can tweak before getting a swaybar.

your best bet is to strap the item on a pallet give them a rough weight and then get qoutes because the shipping companys always prefer stuff on pallets as its easy to load and transport. my friend got a celica 5sp shipped from qld to act for 175 dollars. i think it was through toll.
